Heads up to the PSP homebrew community! Homebrew developer Yoshihiro is back to release a new update for his homebrew saving utility, Games Decrypter. The latest update fixes the Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 bug brought about by the previous release and now, almost all games that requires the OFW 5.55 can be patched using custom firmware 5.50GEN-B2.
Developer's note:
How i can use this tool ?
- Install the GameZDecryptZ folder in your X:PSP/GAME folder
- Open you iso with UMDGEN 4
- Go to File>File List>Export
- Save it as Filelist.txt
- Extract the EBOOT.BIN with UMDGEN4 in PSP_GAME/SYSDIR
- Put your EBOOT.BIN extracted from UMDGEN PSP_GAME/SYSDIR and put it on root of your memory stick
- Now you can boot game decrypter now you can press X 5 seconds later it's done :)
- Connect your usb cable check on root of your memory stick you have a new folder called decryptor
- Copy the eboot.bin from the decryptor folder inside umdgen
- Go to File>File List>Import
- Choose Filelist.txt
- Select YES to forcing LBAs, then Save
- REbuild your ISO.

Yoshihiro is awesome.
FWIW, most of your favorite places should be swimming with "fixed" versions of the games requiring 5.55+. I know a lot of people have been having trouble patching these games, so I'd recommend just DLing a pre-patched version to avoid confusion.
And to answer the question that I know is coming, this is only partially compatible with M33 CFW. Some games, such as MotorStorm, can be patched and run on 5.00 M33-6. Others, such as Gran Turismo, will only work on GEN CFW.
Doesn't only work on Gen fw.. i got it running no problem on 4.01M33 and others run it on 5.00M33 i got more games to test but hope V2 has good compatability.
Does it make Disgaea 2 work on m33? Or is it time for me to upgrade to GEN? ;)
I tried patching GT + Soul Caliber. I receive an error when loading the decryptor right off the bat. It cannot patch either game.
That's news to me, symbal. I've heard people here and there saying that they can't get it to run on M33-6. So either you're lucky or other people are morons and can't follow directions.
There's been a patched version of Soul Calibur floating around for a few weeks now. You should be able to find it relatively easily.
It doesnt appear to be a problem with the game. When I start the decryptor program I receive an error 2nd line... "This program requires 2.71 or higher If you are in a cfw, please reexecute psardumper on the higher kernel.
Error 0x8002013A loading/starting pspdecrypt.prx"
Then if I press "X" to decrypt it gives error unable to patch Found encrypted Eboot.bin.....
I'll try to find an already patched game to see if it runs.
I found what the problem was. I was starting my psp with 1.5 kernel. I'll check again and post my results for everyone.
I have a quick question before upgrading to GEN...
Is it based off of the M33 CFW or was it coded from scratch? I mostly just want to know if it has the same system menus with the same options (ie, UMD driver selection, etc) and such. Cause if it's a direct continuation of DAX's work I don't see why we should hesitate to use it.
Just a few NEW features. Menus are all the same except there is a pandora battery option in recovery and VSH.
I'm not entirely sure if the code was ripped straight from the M33 FWs, but it sure as hell looks like it. All the VSH menu and recovery menu options are almost exactly the same.
can you only do this on ISO or is it possible to also make the file a CSO?..
You can just patch the iso, and then convert it to cso urself +P
does this fix the issues with running the patched games on 5.03 on a 3000?

why dont you work on DSonPSP instead of helping piracy and making games compatibile for GEN instead of m33.

it replaced it when you ca now play 5.55+ games on psp, and when most of ALL homebrew/plugins will work on gen when you hex edit or it will just work automatically, and btw i really dont see how m33 is faster than gen, all you do is just switch the xmb/game speed in vsh, lol do you even have cfw? or do you just read and say you did that

Gran Turismo goes to black screen
Soul Caliber runs great in the menus but when u start a fight it hangs at the Vs. screen and shows 4 bouncing numbers at the lower right corner of the screen. I also noticed as soon as it hangs the mem card stops reading

It's absolutely a direct continuation of DAX's work. They even use the same internal module names that M33 used.

There's a patch to make SC work, but it's separate from this Games Decrypter patching mechanism.

tried gen but it was too glitchy for me...had a lot of problems with connecting to my internet...and kept corrupting my saveddata...but with this i STILL dont have to upgrade back to *****ty GEN fw

ill report back when i get a patched/not patched copy of gran turismo. i have to test it myself due to conflicting reports.
and there is still hope for m33 users like me, im too lazy to update to Gen or whatever and relearn ways that are changed from m33. gen is still an option i might try later when all hope for m33 are gone, so far its not.

I am trying to get GIJoe running - I extracted the eboot and ran it through BOTH VERSIONS of Yoshihiro's decrypter and both say "Cannot decrypt games eboot" I am running 5.00M33-6 any ideas?
hi, i have 5.00m33-6 i really wanna play naruto on this firmware instead of going to GEN as i heard sometimes bugs will occur and save games will mess up.

The EU version of Gran Turismo gives me a black screen after the polyphony logo etc, but US version works fine.
...I'm using GEN. Also, Yoshihiro is awesome for what he's done with this game decrypter. I cannot thank him enough.

Motorstorm Works great...Awesome game too, the physics of it are alot more realistic than most other driving games, and it can be very challenging too (a nice change from the other boring racing games like NFS Shift). And even though i had to DL this as an ISO, i plan to buy this game once its released here in the US so that the company can continue to create great games like this :)

Everyone has their favorites....I had 5.00 M33 for the longest, but I missed the PSN store. So I sucked it up and upgraded(or downgraded...who cares) to 5.50 GEN-B2. I haven't really missed much since I hardly use the VSH menu. I do miss the Speedy access of the memstick, but it is barely noticeable. Now with the new firmware decrypter, I can now play my oh so favorite Disgaea 2 on CFW!
Also, given the fact that ALL of my homebrew that worked on 5.00 M33-6 still works on 5.50 GEN, I really have no complaints.

Gen is faaaaar better than M33 my boy, who cares if the memory stick might be 0.000000000000000 00000000001% slower? Gen allows us to play all our 5.55+ games to run on 5.50 Gen-B, while M33 only freezes.....

You dont need to hex edit anything except game isos/ version text, to allow it to run. Now a days, B2 update allows more homebrew to be run, and the last time i checked, all the major homebre works fine for gen, or made a new update to allow gen support, like irshell

You have to edit version text in either notepad or a hex editor to play the demos, oh yeh some demos dont work on m33......
If i was a noob, i wouldnt know how to make cwcheats, i woulnt know how to make psp cgi models,and i wouldnt know how to convert psx to eboot, or iso to cso
and anyway - GEN cant even run 1.5 homebrew and m33 has two numbers :)
