Not everyone pirates. Sorry but its easier for me to carry around my PSP in the Silver Hardshell case with a Mem Stick that has 2-5 games on it, than carry around 2 different packets. I am a guy, I don't lug around a purse so this makes life MUCH SIMPLER for me when I get breaks at work, or when I'm on the can.

Would it just be easier to use a one step tool on the PC that lets you select your input image and output directory? I don't get why the decryption needs to happen on the PSP, when the extraction and repacking of the image is done on the computer.

I see no reason to beat around the bush. I pirate PSP games. I have no qualms about admitting it. Not saying it's right or anything, but whatever.

Sony gets enough of my cash from the PS3 cash cow.

Because Sony totally develops all the games for PSP right... I never got that memo. Oh wait, they don't. And there is nothing wrong with supporting the developers who MAKE the games you enjoy. Bottom line... Sony doesn't make your games and they're not getting all the money for your purchases, most of it goes to the developers. Grow up if you're going to game. Nothing wrong with backups to me though if you actually buy the games, I personally find CFW and these decrypters a plus for this purpose. Thanks for all your hard work Yoshihiro. +)

These people do get paid for writing the articles, and they get paid PER ARTICLE. So really it only makes sense that they would try to write as many articles as they possibly can. No excuses for late news!

You do know that developers only get $1 per game sold until the game sells 1 million copies or more. Epic released a statement saying that the way developement cost are, developers get $1 for each game sold, the rest goes to the Big Three, retail stores, publishers etc etc.

Yes, I know that, I was just speaking in generalities. And I am grown up, I just don't really feel any guilt or remorse for pirating PSP games. I've been buying systems and software legitimately since I bought myself an NES...the PSP is my one pirating vice.

@mikal

Uh, that's a patcher, not a decrypter. You still need to decrypt the EBOOT first before patching it.

@NA1NSXR

That's because the PSP's Crypto Engine is required to decrypt the file. Essentially, the decryption process is unknown (as with most decryption routines in any encryption system), but the decryption keys can be found. So, as long as the decryption key is known, you can simply feed that into the Crypto Engine and it will decrypt the EBOOT.
