IJakel released on our forums his new homebrew application for the PSP, DimTheLights v.55. It's basically a plugin that attempts to remove your PSP as a light source.  New in this release is the Hotkey, so you can use it as iR Remote in iRShell without screen.

You can also use it as a mouse with no screen in PSPVNC and PSPDISP, or you can just shut off the screen. It's battery-saving too. Other features are as follows:

  • Hot key L+R+O Will shut the screen off and will not come back on until hotkey is pressed allowing u to use as mouse and remote as mentioned.
  • If launched game from UMD; Plugin will not disable the umd drive thus not crashing.
  • Sets PSP Volume to 0 on startup.
  • Turns off LEDs
  • Stops UMD Drive on startup
  • Dims the backlight as far as it will go. [Phat and Slim differentiate]
  • When coming back from standby, the LEDs will remain off.
  • If you would like to play a game. You may hold L Trigger on startup of psp and it will not disable umd, but you can re-enable it with the hotkey. Just an added feature
  • Hot key Left Trigger and Note will enable the leds and put the brightness to normal visa versa.
  • Hot key Left Trigger and Volume Down will disable the UMD drive while in any mode (XMB, Game, Pops)
  • Hot key Left Trigger and Volume Up will re-enable the UMD driver, allowing the use of your UMD games/videos.

You know if you hold the brightness key, the screen will magically shut off.

Check off another homebrew attempt that is useless to me.

Come out with a plugin that makes the UD chip work side by side with the NAND as a sort of RAID to make it so you have 64 Mb of flash space, FAKE SLIM :D

How bout a plugin that boosts audio past its original threshold on all things. It can do this with UMD Video but nothing else...

A plugin to support more audio/video formats?

A plugin to shut the wifi off even when the switch is on, helpful for those that had to solder it.

A way to fix bad blocks in the NAND, ***** pisses me off that I have a few.

These are merely suggestions...

Thanks, this does a lot of things I want in a plugin, but it does make PSPComic crash on both my slim and phat... looking forward to updates, keep up the good work!

Hey "Serosis"

Yes, I would love to have some plugins that you suggested!

"How bout a plugin that boosts audio past its original threshold on all things. It can do this with UMD Video but nothing else..." Yes some of my games are too quite even with the volume turned all the way up!

A plugin to support more audio/video formats?" I want to play VIDEO_TS Folders!!!

Who and How can we get too make these plugins? Is there a developer site we can post them too?

"Come out with a plugin that makes the UD chip work side by side with the NAND as a sort of RAID to make it so you have 64 Mb of flash space, FAKE SLIM" This could work for the slim models and boost it to 128 MB then we could probably play CPS3 and Sega Saturn or any of the other emulators that need a lot of memory!

Thanks all!
