PSP homebrew - Despertar del Cementerio v8 Mod for OFW 5.55 |
Ó
The Red Bull PSP team has released a new mod for Despertar del Cementerio, the "Universal Unbricker" from Dark AleX. This time, the team has created a DC mod for the official PSP firmware 5.55 that allows you to test the firmware without the UMD.
Developer's note: (translated)
Already in the menu of the DC, do not press the first option (Install 5.00 M33) and to actually install the firmware 5.55 with the modules M33 and ipl, it would have a brick. However, if you want to test the firmware 5.55 official press in the second option (Install 5.55 OFW) and this will install correctly. With this DC OFW 5.55 can be installed in flash, and emulate 5.00 M33-4 from the memory stick. If you want to have installed the 5.00 M33-4 in the flash, take the resurrection.prx of update folder and copy to TM-> DC8-> kd replacing by the existing one. Then in the menu, select the option "Install 5.00 M33".
To install the app:
- Copy the update folder in PSP-> GAME
- Creates the eboot to 5.55 yourself with PBP unpacked by example and put it in the root of the memory renamed to 555.PBP.
- Put the eboot of 5.00 and put it in the root renamed to 500.PBP.
- Run the software.

Can't wait to try this :)
The only thing that's different from the original DC8 is it installs Official Firmware 5.55 instead of Official Firmware 5.00. There's no reason to install 5.55 unless you OWN a 5.55 game (like GI Joe) but you can install 5.55 with that UMD. Pretty silly to make this if you ask me. I'll stick with the original DC8.
yeah but i believe it emulates 5.00 M33-4 from the memstick so its like having OFW but with some CFW files, so people will be able to be on 5.55 OFW and i'm guessing be able to play ISOs/brew/apps on their some-what OFW PSPs!
i have tested this on 5.00 m33-6 and it doesn't work , when i click on install 5.55 ofw it keeps saying 500.PBP not found at root but i have 500.PBP on the root of my memory stick ,,, thanks for wasting my time !!
leo9791, this doesnt emulate 5.00m33-4 or install custom files to 5.55, what it DOES do is this... Installs 5.55 into the MS which you can dual boot with your cfw, like having 2 firmwares at once, only one boots off the MS and isnt cfw. U boot off it so u can play 5.55 required games, then you reboot the psp and it boots back into cfw.
it says "do not press the first option (Install 5.00 M33) and to actually install the firmware 5.55 with the modules M33 and ipl, it would have a brick" so what you just said ("so its like having OFW but with some CFW files") is opposite of what the readme says it does...
Does anyone know what files are required on the memory stick? If not, then I can just copy the entire DC8 over to another memory stick, and it'll run temp-5.00 M33 from those, too? Also, thank you so much, The Red Bull PSP Team. Dark AleX saved us again, this time from the 50/50 working ChickHEN. :)
CrunchyYoshi don't use this on a psp 3000 or a slim TA88v3 this wont work it wont even boot
this does not work!!!!! i have tested it, dont waste your time on it!!!!
i guess i got way in over my head :( lol had my hopes up...
yeah i didn't download it so i didn't see the readme, i just went by what the article said. "With this DC OFW 5.55 can be installed in flash, and emulate 5.00 M33-4 from the memory stick." so that made me think it can run 5.55 OFW and emulate 5.00 M33-4, sorta like DevHook in the old days.
This DOES work. I installed it and it works fine. It does install 5.55 OFW. About time someone got use of my eboot.pbp file that I made a few weeks back. This is a step towards 5.55CFW
What are the goals of this software? Is it a developers tool? Does it emulate OFW5.55 so CFW can play the newest games? Or does it enable CFW on OFW5.55? I just don't understand what the point of this is.
