PSP Gamepad For PC v1.0

Racer_S from our forums has released a new application that works both on your PSP and PC. It allows you to use your PSP as a gamepad on your PC using your WiFi router. This is Racer_S's first PSP application, titled PSP Gamepad for PC, and judging by the comments in our forums, it works perfectly! It requires a bit of knowledge to get to work, especially if you know a bit about Lua coding or have previous experience working with Youresam's amazing Netlib. However, if you follow the instructions correctly, you should be fine.

The only slight hitch at the moment is that the Analog nub cannot be used. The video above shows Racer_S using the PSP gamepad on his PC. Here's how to install this nifty piece of homebrew:

1. Download and install Netlib 2.0.
2. Extract pspgamepad folder from this archive to PSP\GAME\luaplayer\Applications folder.
3. Edit \PSP\GAME\luaplayer\Applications\pspgamepad\index.lua with notepad or similar program and change [pc_ip = "XXX.XXX.X.X"] to your target computer ip and save the file.
4. Start LUAPlayer on your PSP Game list and then select pspgamepad from the list and press circle.
5. Run the receiver.exe on the target computer.
6. After the socket is opened, press some buttons on the psp and you should see the activity light blink on the receiver program, if not the connection is not working.
7. Start a game and configure the keys as you normally would, play and enjoy!

The avid homebrewers amongst you may know that there have been applications in the past that do this, but this small VB6 application requires no installation; however you will need the VB6 runtime files.

» PSX controller connect

I made this circuit that i found on a web for a controller, it works really well and its not hard that hard and really inexpensive. So if you dont have a wifi connection or dont want to use your psp as a controller, check this out.

"Can you use this as a gamepad foe ePSXe?"

If you can map the keys with ePSXe with keyboard keys such as A,D,C ect. then yes... It works with any game that would support keymaping "Thats all most all games =P"

Works great BTW Played my NES And SNES Emulator with no problums.

Now only if we had USB support and Analog support this program would be one of the best homebrews

This is one of the best things I have ever seen....

I was playinh wipeout and mortal kombat trilogy with this program.works good.

by V - 2006-07-27 15:18
» nice app

I know this is a first release, but I have a few suggestions:

- It would be nice if the keys were configurable in the receiver. Maybe using config files.

- Can you allow the connection through USB (my wireless router is so unreliable).

- If custom keys in the receiver could be done, how about using two PSPs at the same time?

by maverick990 - 2006-07-27 15:40
» yeah my only two problems...

would be the lack of analog and no custom receiver keys, I'm sure this will be worked out in the next release. USB connection would also be good for those whose wireless routers aren't reliable. also it says the psp's d-pad is mapped to 'cursor keys'. does this refer to the number pad arrows, or the actual arrows that do not include the numbers? i was playing goldeneye on project64 and found that when pressing left on the psp's d-pad, numpad4 would be mapped. just want to clarify that.

by 2.6 - 2006-07-27 16:21
» @ #34

No it will not brick your psp...

and no it does not work on 2.6.

with the 1.0 eboot: it just reboots back to eloader when tring to launch netlab/luaplayer16

with the 1.5/kxploit: it crashes the psp when the eloader loads.

I know that luaplayer16 never worked on my 2.6 so that makes since. does anybody know a way to get this to work on luaplayer14?

I would love to try this out

since this is a simple client/server thing... i wrote another client to connect thats written in C and is a regular EBOOT.PBP file... so you dont need lua player at all... its got a few things i need to work out with it... right now i hard card the ip in the c file so i need to make a config file for it before i release it

I'm not certain how to get the client to choose my second connection. I'm not at home so the first WiFi connection I have won't work and the client just sits there instead of trying the next one.

» combo with pictures and screengrabber

this would be great in combination with an option to upload pics back to the psp to show on screen of the psp, like automap when in games, this could be realy cool.or like the initial speed o meter in the demo vid.

if there is an option to show a default jpg that can be refreshed quite often. this could be great in combo with an image grabber. the imagegrabber could grab a screenshot of a portion of the screen (a couple of times a second) or so (like speed meter, or amount of life, or weapon info) and show the screenshot op the psp, while controling the game.

by 2.6 - 2006-07-28 16:21
» @ #69 ooohhh 69

look at it as process of elemination.

if everthing runs on the psp and pc correctly and the psp wan light blinks when you push buttons (assuming that it only transmits when a button is pushed) but the pc doesn't see it.

then there is a problem between psp-pc. since the only thing really configurable is the pc ip then thats gotta be the wrong ip.

Make sure you are using the pc ip and not the ip of your router.

good luck
