PSP-FTPD v0.3.2

Ó

Zx-81 has made another update to PSP-FTPD. This version comes within 24 hours of the last version and offers some very important improvements (speed). PSP-FTPD will allow you to transfer files from your PC to your PSP via a WiFi connection. Now, I said last time that if you didn't try the program out, now would be the best time. I'll stick with that, this program has improved greatly over the numerous developers that have worked on it, and this latest one offers the most important improvement of all, speed! Good work Zx-81 on these improvements, and here are the changes (and notices) that Zx-81 has made in this version:

  • Capability to specify in a configuration file (psp-ftpd.cfg), a root directory for the ftp server, to prevent ftp clients to access all the content of your memory stick.
  • See the psp-ftp.cfg file for the syntax (The file format has changed !).
  • Improve transfert rate: 500kbps from PSP->PC and 350kbps from PC->PSP using Filezilla.
  • DON'T USE Internet Explorer if you expect high transfert rates, use rather Filezilla or other suitable FTP clients.

Hmmmmm...for some reason this just crashes for me. I have my network configured fine, it works for other apps, but this just activates the green WLAN light, gets to 8 dots, the hangs my PSP. :- ( Anyone have any ideas? I'd really like to use this app. I have a linksys wrt54ag router....but once again aother apps work fine.

does the transfer rate has anything to do with your internet speed?? cuz i can only get 45kbs using filezilla...and since my max d/l on my cable is only 45 i wonder if that was the case?

this is a .rar file, every piece of homebrew I have tried to use that has the same ending does not work. But I will try anyways.

And that has no bearing on this point as the memory stick can only write at a certain speed so once the speed problems are fixed this should be just as fast as using the usb although this might have some trouble with data corruption.

I'm using the latest version which is 1.08 but it was released in '04 I don't think this is the problem though as other apps that use the connection such as psp radio work just fine.

I type my password and user name in the cfg document, say my user name is jc and the password is the same. and say my ip address is1.1.1.1 When I open my browser I can access my files by typing ftp://1.1.1.1 instead of needing to type ftp://jc:jc@1.1.1.1

I don't want that cause that means anybody with the IP address can acces my psp.

dont be stupid...yes if they know your psp ip they can access it but you have to be running the app....its not like they can go into your psp when your not using....so there is no need for passwords....

i swear people dont use common sense these days...all worried about nothing....my psp ip is 192.168.1.103 and i have no password or name on it....there lets see if you can ever get into my psp

you may not care but others do. I know others can only access it when it is being ran. But I still like to feel secure.

# How to make it work on a 1.5TheGunrun 2006-04-09 13:53
To get this working. (1.5)

Network Settings.

Infrastructure Mode..

Select Connection.

Any Connection Name.

Scan.

Press X on connection.

SSID should be your router name,

Security seetings should stay as usual.

Address Custom.

IP Automatic. (You can use custom if you wish to keep your ftp address the same.)

DNS SETTING MANUAL.

Primary DNS (set to your router's ip) [usually 192.168.1.1]{192.168.2.1 for belkin routers}

Secondary DNS just all Zeros.

Proxy Server. Do not Use.

Save Setting.

Now load it up.

Make sure your WLAN switch is on.

Select the internet connection.

In your pc brower.

Type in the ftp address shown on your psp. Might be ftp://192.168.1.5

Oh yeah when renaming your folders so the corupted data isnt show rename it first on your pc then transfer the folder. For some reason it dosent work if you rename it strait on the psp.

Manually setting the Prim DNS doesnt make it work on my 1.5 PSP. I am have the Wrt54gL (linux) router with the latest DD-WRT firmware. Every current app that uses network seems to work fine, including PimpStreamer, peldet, etc.

ok...check it...on your psp...go to select manual on ip address settings....in it...copy your default gateway and your dns from your computer and put it in (thats what i did) and for your ip...if your computer addy is 192.168.1.100...just change the 100 to whatever...i suggest 102 or something like that....and it should work....it works for me...theres not reason why it wouldn't work

Thanks it works for me now. I've added the static IP and entered the default router IP (same as DNS) and voilla. I remember having to do this 5 months ago with the earlier network homebrews.

So recap for anyone else with 1.5 and are having problems connecting.

In your network setup:

1.) Give yourself a valid static IP: (example 192.168.1.103)

2.) Prime DNS: (example 192.168.1.1)

3.) Default Router: (example 192.168.1.1)

# FTP Client > ServerGuest 2006-04-09 19:37
I think a FTP client would be of more use. Connect to media servers, xbox, ftp servers on the net, etc.

# WORKING!!!Guest 2006-04-09 19:38
Well thank you very much GUNRUN and others who also posted. It's very strange that it needs a static IP and Prime DNS as the router DHCP should take care of assigning an IP and resolving the DNS but whatever it's working now. JUSTIN B if you're out there, I think just a quick line about this in the readme.txt would solve lots of problems and aid faster adoption of this cool app. Thanks

Well I'm a jerk. It is in the readme.txt it's just way at the bottom in the usage section. I didn't read that because I hadn't been successful with the installation. I think that should be moved to the top. Thanks again for the help guys and to Justin B for this APP
