PSP Custom Firmware 3.95 undergoing test phase, release soon |
Ó
With the release of the official 3.95 PSP firmware, it was only a matter a time before the PlayStation Portable homebrew community followed suite. It was recently announced that custom firmware 3.95 is currently undergoing its test phase, with an official release to follow soon.
For most of the part, the new custom firmware was reverse engineered from Team M33's work (or at least the 3.93 parts). The team's "fetish programmer"" then coded in the rest of the 3.95 portions into the CFW based on this. On the down side, CFW 3.95 will not support Popsloader since this is an exclusive plug-in from Dark AleX and the current developer has no plans of using it at this time.
Anyway, here are the details of what the next custom firmware will contain since our coverage of the previously released custom firmware 3.93:
- Launch ISO / homebrew 3.xx
- Adding a name to differentiate firmware for PSP to 3.95 standard ones FC (general request in the forums).
- POPS 3.95
- IRShell functional functional except ISO Launch
- PSP 5.0 Filer functional
- Plug-in Capture.prx tested ok
- Plug-in cwcheat.prx tested ok
- Plug-in Recovery LE (Ketchup) and tested ok (except for displaying the version number blocked on 3.90M33 - Update plug-in planned)
- The USB Host is always buggy but works perfectly with a small tip.
- The recovery is still accessible directly via the XMB with the L key
- CXMB does not currently works but we updating the plug-in is underway (just a problem of addresses to settle)
- Popsloader not working. Only Dark_Alex can update its plug-in. Is not planned at this time.
- Taking screenshots should be added. Still under discussion.
Thanks to MaGiXieN for the hot tip!

Note that there have been a number of "Popsloader" releases for the different firmwares. Even when Dax made the firmware, broken a "popsloader" plugin was not rare.
So YES there is a point to having a custom firmware without "popsloader" (as long as it has "pops" support).
Also for all the flamers below me. The author of this firmware is updating it because he WANTS and also to prove (most likely to himself) that he CAN and is willing to spend time to learn and improve his coding avilites.
-Peace out

And if you don't support her or him, we will loose a talented programmer for the PSP, DaX also started with little steps, think about that.

So what if people reverse engineer DaX's code so long as its not just a hex edit? If its a true reversal of his code they're good programmers and the last group that legitimately reversed his code he gave them his praise, good graces, and a copy of the source code to work from (aka Team Wildcard).
Team M33 has been complimenting and praising people like Ketchup and this guy for a job well done. Unless the code proves to be a hex edit don't be sitting there shooting it down because it's not made by DaX.

Also keep in mind that PSOne games on the PSP are considered ISO's and due to QJ's policies no one here can help you with POPS related issues. You'll just have to find another board for that.

And I'm also going through giving adding and taking stars to try and get them all as close to 2.5 stars as possible. You're going to hate that!
