PSP Anti-Theft System (PATS) 3 released! |

GMDude66 from our forums has released the third version of his PSP Anti-Theft System (PATS) for the PSP. This nifty little application helps to safeguard your PSP in the event of it being stolen. I'm sure most of you know how this works, but just in case you don't I'll go over it one more time.
When you double click the "install.reg" file, information will be added to the registry stating that your particular computer is the TRUE owner of the PSP. When you plug the PSP into a computer "autorun.inf" will run the new and improved program for PATS3, "PATS3.exe" and if it doesn't read the registry of the owner data, a browser window opens up and sends the users IP address to the TRUE owner's email, which has to be set in the "index.htm" file.
Although PATS is not a bulletproof way of securing your PSP, it sure helps. If your PSP is stolen and they don't plug it in to an internet-connected PC, then it won't work, and currently it only works on Windows. But for a 9kb download, you won't even notice it's there! You never know, it may come in handy one day.
Enough of the ranting, here's whats been changed for PATS3:
- PATS now uses a different exe file coded in C++ that should resolve errors with autoplay not opening the file
- Removed password because people didn't like it
- Added Icon of a black PSP

wouldnt it be better if the register key used a unique owner name ? cause the other person could have a pc too lol
Linux version plz.
I think this would be great if somehow it would disable the PSP and flash a reward message. Like 'This PSP has been lost and is now non functional please return to owner_info_goes_here for a $50 reward.

what root folder? all i hav is mp_root

You'll get an email with their IP address, no big deal. @#7 PSP root folder is not MP_ROOT, but the drive your PSP memory sitck is assigned when you plug it into your computer. E.g. My PSP Root folder is drive G:/, and most people's hard drive's are C:/.

You can trace it you self and kick some ass or release it to the proper authorties.
sounds good, but i have no idea how to find someone through their ip address. any help please?
it's more likely to fail then not. Firstly, if you don't have autorun enabled or use a different operating system, then the application won't run. Secondly, there is a number of things that can stop it from sending an email, namely antivirus apps and firewalls, not to mention the user may not have an internet connection in the first place. As Breakdown mentioned, you have to find then through their ISP, which isn't likely going to happen. If you do, (and it was stolen) you probably won't get your psp back without legal actions that will more than cover the psp's cost.
after u change the autorun file to say shellexecute instead of run, it still doesnt work.
it would be the sweetest thing in the world if u could make this same program but for IPOD...im pretty sure ipods are connected to computers a little more often than psp's so it would be alot more useful
