Protect Me v0.92 - added option menu, minor bugs fixed |
Ó
Discreet PSP users who just don't want others to see what's stored inside their Memory Sticks will be glad to hear that maxthebest's homebrewed security application, Protect Me v0.92 (previous version here), is updated once again. Featuring several tweaks and bugfixes to make sure that your PSP will become unappealing to your pesky siblings, the latest update will surely turn off any one who's interested in browsing through your private content with an automatically maxed-out alarm, and other fixes.
Check out the changes in the following changelog courtesy of the homebrew developer:
-
Now when the alarm is played, the PSP volume is automatically set to Maximum volume
- An option menu has been added (working with a file which is ms0:/seplugins/config.mtb)
- In the option menu you can set to play the alarm sound after 3 wrong passwords or not.
- The Credits have been updated
- The Credit, The option, and the set password menus have been modified so you can more easily exit (exit jey used to be different in each menu, now it's the same.)
- Now, when you set the password, a confirmation message is displayed, telling you what password you are trying to set, and asking you if you still want to set it or not.
- Colors have been changed in some menus (No more red, it was too much 'aggressive' wasn't it?)
- Menus have been optimised
- Now splash screen is only displayed at first use, and then it isn't (so you can access menu faster...)
- The On Screen Keyboard has been modified, it used to be kind of complicated (when you pressed up or down, you never happened to go to the letter you wanted to go to... now you should!)
- Many minor bugs have been corrected ...

wish i had this on my psp, it jsut got stolen.
this wouldn't help your psp from getting stolen, it would have been stolen regardless. this program is a nice thought, but it still isn't practical. it may be able to stop a 5 year old little kid from getting into your psp, but for anyone with psp knowledge or even simply common sense, it's useless. until this is written to flash, its no good. even then, it wont stop someone from stealing it, cuz most-likely they wont know about it.
Pandora's Battery, anyone?
Anyone skilled can crack this. But you can't win.
You can unlock it from the recovery menu. Any homebrew user should know that.
You can flash it and risk a brick plus god help you if you forget your password.
You really can't have your cake and eat it too with this version.
...at least this program makes it unlikely for your parents or snooping guardians (if you guys have any) into breaking into your PSP files. Unless, of course, they're also competent homebrew users ;)
And yeah, it's still better to secure your PSP where others can't find it, if you're keeping sensitive data in it.
still no feature for flash version?
