First, the good news. Dago^WATT has just released the demo version of PrometeusPro 0.10.1, his latest installment for the PrometeusPro series of homebrew apps for the Mac. For first-time visitors asking what it does, the Prometeus app allows Mac owners the capability to play PSOne games on their PSP, as well as Compress ISOs.

As for the bad news: Dago^WATT has also has announced that he will be cancelling the development of Prometeus, as the homebrew had no CD-rip function. If anything, version 0.10.1 now has CDDA support, which should alleviate the former's absence. See the changelog:
  • CDDA support (0.10.1)
  • .PBP can be opened from Finder (0.10.0)
  • .PMF and .AT3 support (PSX ->PSP / PBP 0.10.0)
As always, we advise the guys to view the bundle's README, and make sure to donate 1 Euro/USD if you want to get the full version of this app. Given what this has done for the Mac users among us, we figured that's a small price to pay for its features. Enjoy the demo, and make sure to check out some of the video-related brews that are making their way to Mac users.

» Finally

It's interesting that it takes a major revision before Prometeus gets a news post, but if a new POPStation clone crops up (no extra functions, though) BAM, front page.

Anyway, I'm waiting until some FOSS project is created that lets me make PMFs and AT3s.

» Not really cancelled

The project hasn't been cancelled altogether, he's just stopped the basic version that has no CD-Rip and other features for this demo version instead (released once before for 0.9.7), which rather than limit functionality, gives a nag screen and enables pro features for only 6 uses every launch.

» Awesome program

A great app and easily worth the price of a donation ($1???). Keep up the good work Dago^WATT! He gives frequent updates and is very responsive to feedback.

» Pay for play

"Demo", forced donations, hhhm nice ...

I guess MAC users don't have a problem with that, however.
