Prometeus v0.9.7B2 demo version downloadable now |
Listed in: Homebrew Applications Tags: ISO, Mac OS X, PSOne, psp homebrews
You Mac OS X aficionados really like Prometeus, didn't you? You guys were raving about it when we last brought it up. Well, there's a new version out that should be of interest to you guys.
Prometeus v0.9.7B2 is a demo version of the app that combines the PSOne game-playing capability and ISO compression function of the previous version with the ability to save ISO directly from EBOOT.PBP files. For the most part, we've placed the recent changes and features of the app below.
One thing you might like to know is that Dago^WATT and Prometeus are asking for donations from interested users. If you've noticed, we mentioned that Prometeus v0.9.7B2 is a demo. Their download page states that the Pro functions in this demo are only usable thrice, and you have to restart the app if you want to use it again. Giving them a modest donation, however, alleviates the problem.
Interested users of the app can opt to donate one dollar to them and they'll send you v0.9.8, which they call PrometeusPro. The update updates certain functions. As they mention on their blog, "GetISO function updated. You can decompress ISOs from
PBP. Additional function: You can cut zeros from end of
image file (0.9.8)." It's not exactly a very big revision, but it does help them in the long run. For now, we'll let you guys visit their site to try out the demo, and if you're liking the download, you can order it directly from them. Enjoy!

Alternatively, run popstation through start->run, or use alt-codes: Hold ALT, type three digits on your number pad, then release ALT:
101 - lower case e
069 - upper case E
113 - lower case q
081 - upper case Q
You can use this in a command prompt.

The same people that download a DEMO of a SHAREWARE mac application for which there are tons of freeware alternatives for PC users ...

DAX made the custom firmware so PSP owners wouldn't have to buy PS1 games they already own. It seems almost contradictory for people to have pay for an application like this.

Prometeus is an excellent app and Dago Watt is putting a lot of effort into it with almost daily updates.
He only asks that you donate $1. That goes a long way in Hungary.
But you wouldn't know that as you are no doubt sat in a nice comfy house in one of the Top 10 GDP countries, ripping off other peoples' hard work.
You tight bastard.
How would you feel if you didn't get paid for the job you do every day?

But even I have to lower myself occasionally and run XP/Vista on my Mac to run crap like MS Project for my clients.
At least I can emulate other machines at close to full speed. Try that on Windows (OSX+XP+Vista+S olaris+Linux) without it bluescreening.
I used Windows on a PC professionally as a developer for 15+ years, but I would never touch a non-Unix machine again.

I don't play any games on a non-console, so why should I use a PC?

As far as 'ripping off other peoples' hard work' the homebrew community is a free community and thrives on being free. Donations, while essential to the survival of the developers interest in the project, are simply optional.
BTW: I'm sorry that you're poor.

And I am not poor. I'm just an ass.
