Prometeus v0.9.6B - now with compression! |
Ó
Mac OS X users need not fret about missing all the syrupy PSP homebrew goodness (not to mention Popstation) with Dago^WATT and Prometeus on the case. The previous two versions we've featured here opened Mac users to a whole world of classic PSOne games - their classic PSOne games - on their PSPs, so here comes v0.9.6B to brighten up that world even more, as the homebrew program now features ISO compression!
Which brings us to the next question: does this mean that the files generated are meant for use with 3.03 OE-A (which supports file compression)? Dago^WATT didn't mention anything in his website whether this means that his users may now have to upgrade to the latest in custom firmware, or if the generated files could still be used in 3.02 OE-B (which doesn't support compressed ISOs). Nothing is mentioned in the Readme either. Uh-oh... we hope the guy releases a clarificatory statement later on.
In any case, here's the file for you to play around with, and if you happen to understand Hungarian, then feel free to swing by Dago^WATT's page for more information.
Thanks for the tip, Kichigai Mentat!

woot number one if i had a mac id use this
Am I the only one on here that uses macs? :) Thanks for the great app. I love to see more PSP apps coming out for the mac.
is there a windows version?
WELL actully i use a mac!!!! (so ur not the only 1) thank Dago^WATT for another great release!!!
Im on a Mac too.
Sweeeeeeet...!!! This is like the alternative to PopStation Gui for Mac. Thanks Dago!!!
Works very well (just be sure to use the Hot Shots key and no other game's). Gonna give this guy a buck...
Woah! I just donated $1.34 to this guy and he emailed me the Pro version. It is amazing! It has a built in PSX CD Ripper, live updates of what your eBoot will look like in the GAME menu in the PSP XMB and it is really fast. Best dollar I've spent in a long time!
is this MacIntel only like the other port of Popstation or is this PPC compatible as well?
It's a Universal Binary (at least that's what Get Info ?+i says)
No, it's mac only. You should switch... then you can run both OS X AND Vista/XP! On the app - congrats + thanks to DagoWATT for a fantastic release. It packs so many PC applications into one, and he updates constantly! +) I can pack/unpack eboots, create ISO's, convert ISO's/DAX/CISO's and create PSX eboots (now compressed!) - all in ONE app. PAL>NTSC conversion is coming too. It's well worth donating $1!!
Popstation is Universal Binary too, though I did read that it didn't function totally on a PPC mac. Something about the Eboots created from PSX disks not coming out right. I guess I'll have to wait till I get home to try it out.
macs are sooooo gay. I can't stress how gay you are if you own one.
What the hell are you talking about? Of course there is a windows version, it's called PSX2PSP.
macs are gay? and this comming from some loser trying to start a arguement about computers? hahaha you obviously cant score any pu$$y since you come online to start arguements about computers..lol
I second that opinion. I'm waiting until WATTS builds us a tool for creating instruction manuals, PMFs and Atrac3's.
You know, I have a lot of respect for the Linux community. I had a combination router and server running Debian Sarge until I went to college and routers were banned, I also run a Debian-based MythTV box. Until I bought my iBook, I almost exclusively used Linux on a desktop. I've even run Ubuntu PPC on my iBook and been satisfied with it (except for the bloody ATI drivers, but even the x86 versions of those drivers are horrible). Now, we have a Linux user parading about QJ spouting the same uninformed drivel I hear out of the mouths of Win32 Script Kiddies who are convinced that if it isn't Windows, it isn't worth touching. The same script kiddies who've never seen a command prompt in their lives (UNIX, DOS, BasicV2, you name it). And I thought all of the Linux community was enlightened. You, sir, are a blight on the community, and stay out of my LUG.
Universal Binary. I can't imagine what moron would decide to drop PPC support. I mean Apple plans to support PPC for at least another year or two.
Prometeus 0.9.6b's compressed PSOne eBoots are meant for use with 3.03 OE-A, just like every other compressed PSOne eBoot. Just remember to get LibUSB. For size comparisons, consider that an uncompressed Final Fantasy Tactics ISO is 516.2 MB. The compressed eBoot is 252.4 MB, a considerable improvement. As far as something with a lot more pre-comressed data (read: videos), Final Fantasy IX weighs in at 706.4 MB uncompressed, and 485.7 MB compressed. Not as dramatic as Tactics, but well worth it.
great news for the mac psp community!! i myself dont use a mac but this is great for helping the lack of homebrew utilities for the mac. as for the losers who say windows or mac or w/e is better... its personal prefence so shut the hell up.
Even with the LibUSB installed, the program still won't work.. it jumps up for one second and then just quits..
App works great. ArtiK you seem to be the only one that it doesn't work. Which Mac OS X version are you using? I myself am on 10.3.9. Though I have to say, that the app crashed after conversion. Didn't try the Eboot yet, because I'm still on 3.0.2 OE-B. Please more mac apps!!!! We're starving! For example: a Mac version of Personal Media Manager? Greetz to everyone. Big respect to Dark_Alex. Used for a long time the ELoader, but it was a little bit crap (crashed often). 2.71 SE was like my PSP waking up from a long sleep (used it till then more as an MP3 player). And something else: Keep buying the good games, else the developers will leave... I've seen it on the Atari ST and it went quite fast!
Im on a mac. Have been for some time. I'm also loving all these apps coming to OSX.
Worth it. Only 1 euro for pro version. Support it
clarificatory?
now all I have 2 do is downgrade then upgrade. Still scared of the 2.8 downgrader though
oh the downgrade works like a charm... tho i have problem with this release. I know i need to install the libusb thing but could some one make a compiled version so you dont have to install the hole xcode pack?
Get it here mate... http://www.ellert.se/twain-sane/
oh great! thanks alot dude! :)
What other files do i need to run this? Do i still need a keys.bin or something like that? I tried running the file alone and it gave me some error. Can someone please help me!! Tnx in advance!
Thats not really the answer to my question, though I did manage to find it out the other night. I have FW 3.03 OE-A, and I have both PPC and intel macintosh computers in my house. I tried the PSX->PSP function on both computers, both of them were able to rip the disc, however the PPC computer was not able to produce the .PBP file. Looks like its an Intel only Universal Binary app. I'm guessing that the app's code is probably ported from what is publicly available right now and all of that code seems to be x86-based.
Mac users, transform and rollllll out.
how do you rip the cd on the pro version?
