For PSP neophytes wondering what a PMP Mod AVC is, it's obviously a homebrew app. What it does is it allows firmware 1.5 users to play full resolution, high-quality AVC movie files converted using the PMP AVC Muxer. That in turn means you don't have to upgrade to higher firmwares.

Going back to our topic, moneytoo (aka Madrusco) has announced the release of PMP Mod AVC v1.02M_e on the boards. And for those wondering what he tweaked since version "c:"

Version 1.02M_e (10.01.07) tuned by madruscoe:

  • fixed deleting (not disappearing dialog window)
  • added elapsed/remaining time display (press X + start)

Version 1.02M_d (09.01.07) tuned by madruscoe:

  • added description of controls (press square in filelist)
Remember to view the README in the zip bundle for more details. Moneytoo comments that he thinks the biggest update for the pack was the addition of the time display. Given how easily most of us lose track of time, this is a welcome addition to the 'brew. Kudos to moneytoo - this is not poor programming! Keep it up.

» I wonder...

How long will progress on the PMP Mod AVC continue with the recent firmware update and ones I'm sure will follow in the future?

by indianajonesilm - 2007-01-10 20:58
» PMP

Well since the firmware update only allows for bitrates up to 768, those who want the ultimate quality comparable to UMD's and who don't care about file sizes will continue to use PMP. Those who want the good quality and smaller file sizes will use the new firmware. PMP also only allows MP3 compression for audio, so those who want smaller file sizes and good quality are better off using the new firmware with AAC compressed audio.

pmp still supports non-integrated subtitles like srt for so for now i'll stck with pmp. I just find it to be to much work to encode subtitles into video's still, maybe when a nice gui is release with that included, I'll consider using the new feature in 3.03 oe.

» are you stupid

i will keep using pmpmod, but i would love this to get AAC support...

all we need now is the mp4 compatibility, instead of this pmp format, that would be completely perfect...

or at lease decent xvid4psp support for the 480*272 mp4s for the new firmware, becouse 3gpconverter is not really good, i need a SHARPEN filter to make nice fullscreen videos !!!

Hehe, i only say that because my surname is Ruscoe.
