Pixer Fixer: save yourself from pixel death

Fixing pixels. The problem with calling crait without using the capital "C" is that we can't start any sentences with his name. It's a small price, however, for the nifty app he's told us about, which is now available to PSP users everywhere.

The app we're talking about is called the Pixer Fixer. Instead of downloading large videos to help dislodge those stuck pixels on your display, you can use the 150kb app to do it for you. It does its job by randomly printing thick lines on your Sony handheld to keep pixels from getting caught. For people with small memory cards, an app like this is going to be a very welcome addition to their utilities.

According to crait, it will work on 1.0 and 2.00+ PSPs, and will also work on 1.5 with custom firmware installed. It's an eboot, so you shouldn't have any problems with installing it. In any case, here are his instructions for using the app:
  • Go to the Game icon on your PSP's XMB.
  • Click X then find the icon that has the title "PixerFixer By crait." And once again, press X.
  • Run this program for about 1 minute, changing the brightness setting of your PSP system every 2-4 seconds.
Simple, right? Enjoy!

by - 2006-12-21 00:22:03
desc

Stuck = white Dead = black its possible for subpixels to become stuck also (red green blue) If it's a black pixel on a white screen its dead. also wasnt there an app exactly(functionality wise) like this about a year ago? owell who cares.
by - 2006-12-21 00:24:05
a

program needs to pay more attention to the top and bottom of the screen, it mainly targets the middle section

by - 2006-12-21 02:17:00
What he mean by changing the brightness setting of your PSP system every 2-4 seconds?

isit pressing the button beside the psp logo on the bottom right by ourselves or isit in the system settings?
by - 2006-12-21 02:33:34
brightness?

Why would you want to cycle the brightness? That only dims and brightens the backlight and has nothing to do with the actual LCD screen at all right?
by - 2006-12-21 04:22:40
SE-C

I got it working on SE-C only by putting the folder inside GAME150. Didn't work from GAME. Oh well. Great program, crait!
by - 2006-12-21 04:28:34
Stuck pixels at the top

Hey crait. This program works great for me and has fixed at least 3 stuck pixels! At last I got rid of them, I've had them since the start. The only problem is that I have 3 more stuck pixels at the way top of the screen and that area doesn't seems to be "colourized" as much as the rest, therefore not fixing them. Is this a problem for anyone else? I'm gonna run it for a while more, and if it's not fixed, I'll have to try another method. Again, thanks for your great work, crait.
by - 2006-12-21 06:07:17
this really fix ?

i have 2 stuck pixels .. im testing it but no result :(
by - 2006-12-21 06:40:22
Have a launch day psp...

I was lucky to only have 1 stuck pixel on launch day - one thing that I was very worried about. I tried numerous videos and such to try and get rid of that one pixel issue but it never worked - i'm going to give this proggy a try and then if it doesn't fix it - I won't try anymore. It's not that big of a deal - but everytime the screen goes black - loading screens etc, I just stare at that one pixel and it pisses me off... lol
by - 2006-12-21 06:53:47
no...

i have 2 stuck pixels on bottom right, and it doesn´t work =///
by - 2006-12-21 06:59:21
sp

"I just stare at that one pixel and it pisses me off... lol" thats so true, lol! (same here)
by - 2006-12-21 07:26:10
fghf

let it run for over 1 hour
by - 2006-12-21 07:56:38
I agree 2

one dead pixel runs a perfect lcd
by - 2006-12-21 08:00:22
HAHAHA

The homebrew app I have blows this one away. Video downloads and this are a joke compared to being able to select each and every pixel like the app I use. You simply run it and select a pixel then start flashing the pixel every color and walla no more stuck pixels. I wonder why nobody ever mentions the app I use? Owell more fun for me if I have an easier way then everybody else. :D Good luck with this. LOL
by crait - 2006-12-21 09:27:22
uh

you get it to work on 1.5 you need custom firmware installed that allows you to run 1.0 eboots for 3.0+... sry... your out of luck for 2.8, use the eloader for 2.71, use the eloader and i mgith go and fix the top part of the screen later. and the reason you cycle the brightness settings is because the lcd gets a different charge when you do, the color variation works with the changing charge to cycle through your brightness settings you have to press the brghtness button i will probably make a different version of this that automatically changes the brightness settings. and blitz's images to the top of the screen too
by crait - 2006-12-21 09:36:14
guh...

This does not run on 1.5. you need to either use the kxploit or install custom firmware then run it for 2.81 and up, you are boned... for 2.8, use the eloader for 2.71 use the eloader if you have custom firmware for 2.71, use it! go to the xmb and select the icon for the game and run it
by - 2006-12-21 10:08:38
pixel app

Could you send me a link to your app? I have a pixel in the left hand corner and every other app doesnt fix it.
by - 2006-12-21 10:51:21
...

Try opening it up, and letting it run for awhile. Plug your psp in to a charger and just let it keep giong for a long time. eventually it will be fixed.
by mitch111 - 2006-12-21 11:35:18
Wtf

This didnt do anything for me but i am gonna run it for about an hour to see if anything changes!

Doesn't work

by - 2006-12-21 16:36:33
Damn :(

Yeah, I've had 3 dead pixels from the start. A red, a blue and a green. I ran this program 5 times, for a few minutes each, cycling the brightness, but didn't fix them so I guess they're ....... stuck :(
by Marq - 2006-12-21 17:51:36

How to work it?

okay, I have a TA-082 whatever PSP at firmware 2.71. What can I do to run this program? I currently have a bright red pixel at the middle top of the screen and one that works fine until bright blue colors show up. Then it turns green and other bright colors.

omg! read comments before asking questions

This does not run on 1.5. you need to either use the kxploit or install custom firmware then run it for 2.81 and up, you are boned... it does not work on 2.81 or 2.82 or 3.0 or 3.01 or 3.02 or 3.03 it only works on fw below that for 2.8, use the eloader for 2.71 use the eloader if you have custom firmware for 2.71, use it! go to the xmb and select the icon for the game and run it
by - 2006-12-22 11:28:43
AmaZZZINGGG!!!!! IT ACTUALLY WORKS!!!!

Really Good App and a "Must Have for Any PSP Owner with Stuck Pixels", not sure how good it is with Dead Pixels but for Stuck Pixels it works a treat.
