PiMPStreamer

YEAH! DickyDick1969 has just confirmed that a little bit of magic by Raphael has just made it possible to run PiMPStreamer on your 2.0 and above PSPs!

If you want to start thanking people, my advice would be to first start with Jonny. He started the process by taking out the ME (Media Engine) code out of PMP Mod. Thus, all that was left to do was to add the replacement code which would substitute the ME. And that's what Raphael did.

And finally, the PiMPMaster, DickyDick1969 made a few changes to his app to make it run on 2.0 and above PSPs. And yes, it has been tested by him. Here's what he said on his blog- "Yes!! It runs now on 2.x PSPÂ’s !! Enjoy!! Just put the 2.x files in the PSP/GAMES dir and edit the pmp.ini for server settings and eLoader will pick them up. (tested on a 2.6 white psp)"

In case you're thinking, the 2.6 white PSP is his own. And guess what? It's bought using the donations which he got for PiMPStreamer! So all the guys who donated, a big thanks from us here, seeing how it helped everyone.

Anyways, the process doesn't sound difficult. Download the file, unpack it, and move it to the PSP/GAME Folder and edit the pmp.ini file with your IP addresses. For the 1.5 PSP owners, fret not! There's an updated version for us too! And it solves a few minor issues.

Great news huh? Now get downloading!

Well good job but I never seem to get this app to work on mine. The last time it worked was like 0.3 or something. I edit the ini and it connects but never shows me the folders just has those two "" where the files should be.

Great news that it runs on 2.0+ PSP's, but I could really care a less, its a wonderful program, but I'd really love to see ogm and (possibly) matroska file support added in.. as ffmpeg readilly supports both. Other then that, keep up the good work, and make sure you drop a note in releases that people should create a PSP/VIDEO dir on their psp, or it will screw up.

***I just posted this same msg on the version .6 site .. then found the .62 site ... sorry for the 'double post" ***

Ok I have firmware 1.5 ... newest pimpstreamer .62

I have made a folder on my mem card at F:\PSP\VIDEO

I have added directories to the Windoz app

I have update the ini file to look for my ip address (and not the 192.168.1.1 one but the actual PC's one)

I keep getting the following error on PSP...

Current stream directory: " "Error connection to host 68.xxx.xxx.89:3333 "ms0:/PSP/VIDEO/" not found or empty, or host not connected

Any help??

Also would it work to put in a name instead of the IP address ... like me.no-ip.com (using the no-ip.com ip redirect) ??

Thanks

Oh BTW - PC is XP machine

Ok I got the stream to play .. dam router!

Is there a way if you have more than one dir listed to go back to the main listing ... or once you choose one you have to restart it to choose another DIR?

Any ideas on the noip thing? .... I'll try it out tomorrow and see if it works...

Does anyone have a link to a guide for this? I know I have the right IP and everything, because I can browse all of my files, but they're all listed as 00:00:00 for time and every time I select any of them I see "Loading..." and then the PSP crashes.

Oh, and I'm using 2.0 and eLoader 0.97.

# DartanIllegal Machine 2006-06-14 19:52
You only put your Public IP in there if you're trying to access it from a starbucks.

Use 192.168.1.100, or 101 or something like that. should work for you...

BUT... and this is important ( I think... maybe or was it for portable VNC? I can't remember).... when you make your internet connection in the PSP menu, and it asks about address settings, hit CUSTOM, and fill in ALLL those lines with the Primary DNS, and what have you.

get that info from your comp. go to Start: Run. Type in CMD. when the black box xomes up, type in ipconfig/all and it'll give you ALL the info you 'll want to plug into the PSP when you're making your internet connection...

Like I said, I can't remember if this is for this or Portable VNC, but this is how mine is set up, so maybe it'll help you

i did create a 'video' dir on my psp

x:/psp/video/

and configured the ip address to the ip of my computer run>cmd > ipconfig and placed that ip address in the ini file in the PMPSTREAMER dir in the game folder...

# stream starts then failsGuest 2006-06-15 10:53
I have gotten pretty much everything to work. I can connect to the server and open a stream. Then as soon as the stream starts it freezes. It streams the first 2 seconds of the video then stops streaming. The server does not crash and the psp does not crash. The stream simply stops. Some help would be appreciated. Running version 2.01 firmware, attempting to stream avi file. Streaming over local network. That same connection works just fine for VNC.

# PIMP StreamerGuest 2006-06-15 20:30
I am about the cry in happiness. Pimp Streamer now works on my psp, perfect streaming high quality video. I have dreamed of this day for so long. This was not working on my 2.5 firmware, but i read other peoples posts and i noticed that nobody with firmwares other that 1.5 and 2.6 were able to play video. So i upgraded to 2.6 and voila, PIMP Streamer works. To get it to work i opened the ports 3333 tcp in windows and port forwarded that port on my router and switched my router from mixed mode to only b mode to speed back playback. I also added two files X:/psp/video and X:/psp/video/dummy.pmp cause i heard that it helped browsing the menu. You must also edit the ini file to your computers ip address acorrding to the readme in the setup. Hat's off to *****y*****1969 and everyone that helped develop PIMP Streamer, Your the best!

# issue resolvedGuest 2006-06-15 20:55
some user report that the pimp streamer dont work

they got only streaming directory " "

the problem is easy to resolve:

create a VIDEO folder in psp (near game and savedata)

copy output.avi and put it in the video folder

DONT edit pimp ini with NOTEPAD or you ll broke it!!!!

its a character codage problem!

Edit pimp ini WITH MFC WORDPAD or OFFICE WORD or any program who understand multi character codage.

And it will work. (this problem is from the 55 version)

# huh??eggwonder 2006-06-16 19:13
you can edit the pimp ini in notepad. i did it myself because my laptop doesnt have microsoft word or office on it. and only thing i had to do is put a space between the ip and connection with the port number like this....

XXX.XXX.X.X 1:3333 notice the space between the last 'X' and the 1.

also is there any way that i can make it play wmv videos?

Can't beleive I got it to work first try, but it did :D !!! Sound seems a lil choppy and video is slowed up, but all this is to be expected I imagine. Definately works on 2.6 !! It's apps like this that make me glad I upgraded...lol. And of course MP3's work great. Was wondering though, maybe a way can be implemented so that you can create a background during MP3 playback? Just a thought, keep up the good work guys :D !!!
