PiMPStreamer v0.72 Announced

DickyDick1969 has just made an update to his swell homebrew app, PiMPStreamer. This program enables you to stream most of your movie files to your PSP. The dev makes use of the normal ffmpeg libraries so files such as AVI, MPG, MP3 would work fine.

How does it work? DickyDick1969 says that basically the PiMPStreamer "transcodes and scales your original movies to the PMP format REALTIME". Moreover, he assures you that you won't be needing a supercomputer to stream your movies.

So what's new with v0.72? Check out the list below:

added m3u support
added auto aspect ratio
added add whole dir/m3u to playlist
display movie title while showing interface
when time skip subtitle is corrected (almost)
test connection mode
added <- -> in playlist playmode to skip to songs
changed aspect control back to triggers.
minor issues

for some reason pimpstreamer only worked only up to .65 for me... after the subtitles update the program stopped responding to my router because it won't even show the connection status "connecting 1 ot of 4..." (somthn like dat) itll go directly to the main window and itll say "error creating socket" so.. im kinda stuck at version .65.. other than that problem this program is one of my favorite homebrew on my psp.

realy realy nice app but i think u realy need a super computer to run this program cuz it realy pauses alot like i mean A LOT and id rather buy a $300 machine wich is the location free player cuz i got a crapy computer and the program just pasuses like every sec, im not saying i got a realy old computer, i got a normal computer that can handle online gaming like CS or CS:CZ, so i hope they'll fix this prob.

I've a 1700 amd and it streams just fine. However when switching wifi accesspoints I can notice speed differences.

The testing connection feature shows me 585000 bytes/second on the best and 252000 bytes/second on the worst accesspoint. (which still is fine for movies)

I figure stream quality depends on the network and NOT on your computer.

I get a 564925 bytes/sec and I receive lag throughout the video. Also have a decent computer (opteron 146/7800gt/2gigs ram).

I just follow the usage txt with step by step! I was confused at first and I got stuck at the Connection Test (30 sec.) on my psp then later I went back to .ini to check what's missing that I forgot to add the values on the ip address. So now I got the Connection Test passed and got this video & music streaming on REAL TIME!!! Whoo-hoo!!! Thanks *****y! I'm Officially Pimped!!!

#7: Because with this you wont need that "big" MS. and 4gb isnt enough if you want have movies on your stick, maybe if you have a 40gb MS this app maybe have been "pointless".

Btw, its cooler to stream stuff.

And stick your complete video collection on it? And manually transcode all your movies to PMP format?

Try before you whine.. Pimpstreamer is pure genious for us who want to have ALL our video collection available to us whereever there is a wireless connection.

Uhh, excuse my sarcasm.. And you would plug that Lan cable on your PSP where?

You need wireless to communicate with your PSP. You could use USB, but whats the point?

The general idea with the Pimpstreamer is to stream video wireless to your PSP.

I know it works over WIFI, I'm asking if it can transcode and stream at an acceptable framerate over internet.

Also, is there any option in the future to select which access point you want to use?

Sadly, running this in 1.5 elminates the possibility of connecting to WPA encrypted networks and it wont run under devhook.

@13 Yes, you can. you only have to know your public IP as long as Dyndns isn't supported.

@15 Never been to a friend or in a public hotspot area? You can stream your videos and music to _anywhere_ you have WiFi access, not just to your Bedroom to watch Pr0n...

the program seems to crash everytime I touch one of the digital buttons. Also, Pimpstreamer doesnt seem to allow files which are deep inside a directory tree, an example: C:\videofiles\p impstreamer\coo lvideos\cartoon s\Tom&Jerry.avi

When I try to browse to the avi file from root directory C: it stops and hangs by the pimpstreamer directory
