PiMPStreamer v0.65 Now With Subtitle Support (*UPDATED*) |
Ó
The recent release of jockyw2001's PMP VLC Player may have been one of DickyDick1969's inspirations in improving his homebrew app, the PiMPStreamer. This time, he has updated the latest PiMPStreamer v0.65. What is new? Now, the app sports subtitles! Again, this update is for firmware 1.5 only, but he is really working hard to bring out the goodness of PiMPStreamer to other firmwares, so watch out for updates.
Although the team he is rooting for to win the World Cup (The Netherlands) loss in part because of some questionable calls by the officials, he was able to shrug it off to bring to life this update. According to the good developer, "I merged the code from Raphael so there is now a SUB supported PiMPStreamer. At special request from a great donater. To use SUB files, place the sub file in the PSP/VIDEO and play the movie. If your movie to be streamed is called sometitle.avi the subtitle file has to be named sometitle.avi.SUB. It only works with full fps streaming and without time skip." Nice!
Here is a screenshot of the updated PiMPStreamer in action (Guess what he's streaming...). Don't you worry if the subtitle is blurry in this pic for according to DickyDick, "the blurriness is because I canÂ’t take pictures." As always, your constructive criticisms, observations, and suggestions about this app will be well appreciated by DickyDick1969. So feel free to tell us what you think through your comments, for they will surely not fall on deaf ears.

Update: Some of you may have noticed that the important .ini file was missing from the download. Well, thank goodness that DickyDick1969 reads your comments! According to the good developer, "IÂ’ve placed the pmp.ini file back in.. Due to the merge I misplaced the location (it looks into /pmp.ini instead :~), so i recompiled." So now, you can download the complete homebrew app without the hassles! Enjoy and don't forget to tell us what you think about it.

Ta very much for this, will try it out right now...
best homebrew ever...
errr is it me or doesnt this version have the .ini file in the pimp folder?
Thanks *****y***** for all your hard work. I LOVE PMPStreamer.
Any1 know how I can make this work with a router that uses WPA-TKIP? Caus my FW1.5 Does not support WPA.... Thx
"I don't kill women. You can go." Then he shoots her in the back. Ouch.
Guys i dont think this is 2.6 support but there already is a 2.6 running pimp streamer. I love it! MY FAV APP RIGHT NOW!!! Also in the description it says look out for updates this is only for 1.5. You are making it sound like there is no 2.xx support but there is guys! check it out look it up! AND HAVE FUN!
I love that movie! Hahah... One of the few movies I like better WITHOUT the subtitles and dubbed in english (ironically enough). The english voices are more comical :D. "What're you looking at, never seen an ice cream theif before?" LOL, the part where he says that and runs away laughing his head off is PRICELESS in english!
yeah, the ini is missing, tried 2 use an old one, wouldnt work, so d!ckyd!ck, please hook us up...?
yeah baby. d!ckyd!ck has posted the inifix pimpstreamer on his site, download it from there. And qj, u 2 can get it from there anr repost it....
I'm not sure, but i think the subtitles say,"I don't kill women. You can go!"
why have i never heard of this app before?! its soooo!!! good... is it because something better exists? or just not enough coverege?... i'll be using this all the time now. saves so much time!
cant believe how little attention this release is getting, subs on the pimp is amazing if u ask me. It just got drowned in the 2.5 kernel access discovery, and the downgrader thingy. But D!ckyd!ck, jour app is PHAT. TU TU TU TU
Why haven't I heard of this player? A port of VideoLan? How the ***** can you beat that?
man, this rocks....i love it anyone got a suggsestions for best settings, still trying a few diff ones. but i love this app
GUY CANT THERE BE MORE BUFFER MORE BUFFER THEN IT WOULD BE PERFECT
how do you use the pimp thing
My router isn´t working yet so I can´t test it. Some things I would like to point: - can´t subtitles be with the same name as video? "mymovie.avi" & "mymovie.srt" or "mymovie.sub"? If I read well with 0.65 it has to be "mymovie.avi.sub" and most movies on PC have them like the way I said and I would have to rename all subtitles... - does it work with automatic IP address? Thanks for all the good work!
