PiMPStreamerTired of demuxing/muxing videos to play with PMP Mod ? Or can't figure the head and tail of video transcoding ? Well, PiMPStreamer is here to help you overcome all your woes.
In DickyDick1969's own words, "I was tired of creating and demuxing my movies for the PSP. So, I pimped up PMP Mod and made a realtime streaming/scaling/demuxing Windows server."

Although configuring it requires a little bit (really tiny bit) of technical knowledge, once you're done, you won't have to mess around with video transcoding. Ever.

Here's the instructions :
  • Download PiMPStreamer from our download site below.
  • After downloading PiMPStreamer, extract the archive anywhere you want.
  • There will be 2 folders inside, Windows and PSP.
  • Go to PiMPSTREAM folder inside the PSP folder.
  • Edit the pmp.ini file using notepad. Change the URI in both sections to reflect your PC's IP address.
  • You can find out your PC's IP address by going to Command Prompt and typing "ipconfig"
  • After modifying and saving pmp.ini file, move the PiMPSTREAM and PiMPSTREAM% to your PSP. Your PSP is now ready to connect to your PC.
  • But wait, you still need your PC to respond to those requests. Inside the Windows folder, you will see a bunch of files.
  • Double-click on PimpStreamer.exe to start the server on your PC.
  • The program is pretty self-explanatory. In the movie path, enter the path to your movies' folder.
  • Change the bitrates according to the video you're watching.
There, now you can sit back and watch all your favorite movies anytime-anywhere without messing around with video transcoding, and without wasting precious space on your Memory Stick. If you have a little know-how of port-forwarding, you can actually stream your movies anywhere in the world ! To know more about port-forwarding, Click Here

Thats a pretty handy thing but i doubt it will work for 2.60 users like me, as the eloader doesnt have wifi support.

Nice tool though. keep up the good work!

ive mentioned in the article...

goto start -> run -> type cmd -> in command prompt, type ipconfig...

your ipaddress will be shown along with subnet mask and default gateway..all you need is the ip address. ignore subnet mask and default gateway

feck , that's a negative on it working for 2.00 wifi-loader. Downgrading might be the only option for my kind.

to solve the video not found error, just put a .pmp file (create a text file and change the extension to .pmp) inside /psp/video folder... but it won't connect to my wireless... the wlan light doesn't even turn on :| . (1.5 psp)

Anyway when ths bugs are gone this will definitively be one o the best media players for the psp. good work.

# What does port forwarding do?Guest 2006-03-31 01:35
I know how to do it and have done it for torrents but why can't i use this all over the world without doing so? If i can stream from the internet, then doesn't that mean i can already use it from anywhere in the world?

Also, which ports should be forwarded?

# nice1Guest 2006-03-31 01:35
hey, people having trouble with "slowness" do not run any unneeded programs when your streaming, also it could just be your computer is too slow, just a note, if you have a slow wifi router that cud be part of the problem

*****y*****1969, u have done something i was in the middle of trying to do (sort of in visual basic) props to you for succeding :)

Everyone! if your psp says no video folder "ms0:psp/video" error, simply make that directory (if it isnt already made) and create a text document in it. Name it whatever u want. Change the extension(.txt), to .Divx.pmp. so it should look like this: "test.Divx.pmp"

If after that u still cant even see the list of files from ur pc, try changing the "con" and "debug" values in the .ini file in the pimpstream directory on ur mem stick. Make sure that the top set of values in the .ini file (e.g. the first con, enabled, uri, debug) matches exactly the second set of values. (e.g. the one under "[STREAM]".

at first mine didn't show my videos, but when i replaced my video with a different one it showed up, but it didn't load when i tried to play it. This would've been awsome if it worked. hope someone finds a way to make this work.

once it starts to work smoothly, someone should have set up a computer where everyone could stream off of (probably wont work though)

It works, we already tested streaming with PMPMod over the internet. It doesn't work well unless someone implements a buffer for PMPMod.
