PiMPStreamer 0.55-2.01

DickyDick1969 has once again updated his PiMPStreamer homebrew application. PiMPstreamer is a mod of the popular PMP Mod and features wireless streaming of video to your PSP. This is only a small update says Dickydick, which involves an upgraded PSP source to the new 2.01 PMP Mod. He also wanted to extend his thanks to the "great PSP master", Jonny.

According to Dickydick, thanks to this guy, you can now enjoy movies in various aspect ratios. No more hamburger faces for your fave hits. Streaming is still at all full speed. Also, Dickydick1969 and Jonny are currently talking about taking the stream source into the PMP Mod Distribution.

And another change in this version is that the aspect ratio control was moved to the left and right trigger because according to him, he could not get the analog stick to work.

The one released earlier with the analog control didn't work for me either and I thought it was a fake feature.

Glad to see I was proven wrong :)

Among a few other important things, the .ini file on the PSP needs to be changed. The IP for your local network (and the port as well) is one thing but I noticed that even though my "home" wireless profile is second in the Sony network infrastructure list (my "work" is first"), in the .ini file: connection = 0 fails (of course) but what WORKS for me is -- connection = 3.

I know 3 doesn't mean 2 - but for this program, it just works that way...

experience talking, nothing else...

# Having the same problem as #2Guest 2006-05-29 23:08
Nope. Same thing's happening to me.

PiMPstreamer 0.55 used to work for me fine. Downloaded this new version, set the connection to 1 on the PSP .ini file, customised the windows server. Forwarded the ports thru my router-etc.

Every time i load PiMPstreamer, it connects to the wifi network but freezes on the "current directory "" " screen. I've done everything that i did before to get 0.55 to work but 0.55-2.01 refuses to download a list of directories on my PSP. WTF?

# Cool, this is one hell of excellent app!Guest 2006-05-29 23:23
And I love it!

About the problem to connect; Have never had any problem, it has always works perfectly (with my WiFi Max), but I will try this one and post how it worked. Shouldnt be any problem though, but if people has experience problem with this version, it could be useful to post the result.

Pimpstreamer 2.01 does not work with version 2.01 firmware. My apology in advance but are you just trying to screw with us at this point?

Regardless I hope that pspupdates and every other site hosting this file are prepared to offer up plenty of unnecessary bandwidth to all the firmware 2.01 users who will no doubt try this file due to it "title glitch". I know I did

# it works at con 1mjsee 2006-05-30 04:54
I know watched a full video stream of a tv series i downloaded on the net. I tried to stream a anime series but the server keeps on crashing, i'm not sure maybe because its encoded on different codec? but it played for 1-2 sec then the server crashed.

0.55-2.01 works fine in connection 1, other than that i think its not working, i'm using con 1 on my home then con 2 at the office, same computer, same psp, at the office no luck but here at home it works like a charm!

to #3, yes same with here on the previous version 0.55-2.00, when i'm using connection 2, i need to input 3, i dont know why.

the server still crashes at some point

i didn't do any port forwarding on my router.

I'm using a dell inspiron 1300 laptop, dlink wifi router

i change the port from 3333 to 143 (stands for i love PMP hehehe) of the psp and windows config, before i used the deafult 3333, it didnt work for me, so i change it to other port number

then input the ip of my laptop on the psp config

then start streaming!

# if you have a problem connectingGuest 2006-05-30 05:05
and it had worked with previous versions, just try changing the connection in the .ini to 0, 1, or 2. Could be a higher number if you have many connections

i dunno my psp is weird so whenever i turn on wifi the light turns back to green if its on the ac adapter and wont turn back until i turn wifi off and i think its because it cant charge while wifi is on but im not very sure why it doesnt charge while wifi is on

now im gonna go back to waiting for pimpstreamer to go above 1.5

# Linksys?Guest 2006-05-30 18:40
I think this application is working for people without Linksys routers. For everyone with a linksys router, it freezes when it tries to build the list. I may be wrong, can someone confirm?

# Linksys problems, will test with other router to confirmGuest 2006-05-30 20:38
I had the some problems mention in 19. I am using a Linksys WAP54G, my guess is that the application crashes, thus not releasing the ip adress, then when I try to connect again I have to reset the router and restart the PSP. Funny thing is that under network settings in the PSP menu, it is able to connect just fine !

@ home I have a cheap Sweex Wifi router, wich works like a charm, but I havent tested it with the new Pimpstreamer

# wifi ac adapter trickGuest 2006-05-31 03:42
It is possible to run wifi apps using the ac adapter. Plug in adapter then remove the battery. Start up Pimpstreamer (or PSPRadio or any wifi app) and when Pimpstreamer is up and running put the battery back in. Your PSP will not see the battery and run off of the ac apapter. It will stay this way until you unplug the adapter, even if you restart your PSP.

ps. you don't NEED to put the battery back in, I just do that so I don't lose it. Tested on 1.5 and 2.0 firmware.

# empty stream dir....Guest 2006-05-31 06:53
had the same prob as the others, hang up at stream dir...... solved it by using the pmp.cfg from the last release. they were written differently.......

pimpstreamer says its connecting to con 0, but i only have con 1, but it works so it doesnt matter.

Great app though dikkydikk, thanks for your great work.

This is by far the best software, game or application, that has ever graced my PSP. (And yes, it absolutely supports sound.)

I can jack up the quality to a bitrate of 600 with very little lag. Some sync issues after about 10 minutes of continuous play, but other than that, this is a brilliant application. A must have for all PSP owners!

(Sucks to be you if you don't have 1.5!)

# help on setup pimpstreamerGuest 2006-06-05 08:49
ok i spent all afternoon getting pimpstream 2.01 working, heres a little help gained from my errors!

1. download pimpstreamer 0.55 2.01(remember it only works on 1.5 psp)

2. open the file psp then open pimpstreamerv2.01 and open pmp configuration settings it normally opens with notepad. Change the ip address to the ip address of your pc (not your router)and remember to leave the 3333 at the end (that is the port setting)

3. Very important!! make sure you have on your psp a video folder!!!!!! plug your psp to usb click on psp folder and you should have at least 2 folders "game" and "video"

if you dont make a new folder called video.

4. Install the 2 files (pimpstreamerv2 .01 and pimpstreamerv2.01%) in the game folder.

5. To stream you must start pimpstreamer on your pc that is found in the windoze folder of the download(dont change anything you can browse folders on your psp after) just open the program and leave it running.

6. And this is why i lost all afternoon hehe!

start up your psp and try pimpstreamer...if it works thats great if not heres what i did(now you know it didnt work at fist for me) link up your psp to your pc and open the pmp config settings again(this is where you changed the ip earlier) you will see there is a part that looks like this

[stream]

con = 0

try changing this number to 1 , 2 , or 3

3 worked for me (this is the setup).

there you go i hope this will help.

And to finish THANX *****y*****1969 and those you work with for some fine homebrew
