PhyAlGeom Aid v1.0 - Image 1

Hey, some of us are geeks too. And I think geometry is like the coolest thing ever invented since the toothpick. That's why, when Mr305 dropped by our forums earlier to announce his entry into the NeoFlash Summer Coding Competition, some of us here *ahem ahem* were fit to burst in glee.

Phyalgeom Aid v1.0 is, as the developer claims, "the complete academic suite." It can help you find answers to the most common problems that students might come across in physics, algebra, and geometry. Equations to formulas are given, and all you have to do is input the numbers into their own variables. Here's a couple of functions included in the homebrew application that you can get solutions for:
  • quadratic equations
  • arithmetic/geometric sequences
  • Newton's law of gravity between two objects
  • average acceleration, final distance and velocity
  • surface areas and volumes of cylinders, pyramids, etc
Right now, the application is in its v1.0 phase - what the developer refers to as "The Caveman" stage - and as it is, it's pretty well done already. Mr305 is requesting for some suggestions though. If there are any other formulas that you think he could incorporate into future versions, then post them in the forum release thread (linked below). Hey, Mr305, what about projectile trajectories, probability equations, and... oh oh oh!, derivatives!

add calculus

you should have sequences set up for finding limit or derivative maybe teach people programing calculus created programing we know today its almost identical to c, c+, c++ thats something to think about in the next version still a very cool homebrew

add calculus

calculus is for *****s and dykes.

as much as i don't want to admit it, this actually looks pretty cool, def a dl for me tomarrow

Impressive

How strange. The first piece of homebrew that's actually gotten my attention in a few months. I'll bet I'll be using it quite often in college, actually.

sick

im actually gonna dl this piece of homebrew... this will rly come in handy if i got math first semester... if second even better cuz it'll give time for mr305 to upgrade :D

Wow

This actually helps me out too, too bad i didnt have this for calc class, because some of the equations would have still been used, but i am going into physics this year , so it will still come in handy.

sweet

add limits and derivites and id actually pay for it! those things suck to figure out at times

Cool

This seems like a pretty cool program. If you release a follow up, it should include trig and calc functions

This is one of the best homebrew ideas I've seen in quite some time.

Mabie it will help me do my Algebra 2 homework. BTW does this thing solve proofs? We did alot of that last year in Geometry and our teacher said we would use proofs in all higher math classes.

Elaborate...

Honestly... I've no idea what you said. Could you elaborate it? Thanks for the +ve feedback

Nice!

gotta check this one out. Definitely would be so helpful.

Not really too sure if this is a good idea

It's great that people are trying to make useful stuff, but I'm not too sure whether this is going to be too helpful. It saves time but it stops people trying to do them. They get out of practice at doing them, and they become dependant on it, which can really mess them up when it gets to exams and stuff where they cant have it with them. I know this from experience. I made a kind of similar thing just to use myself on the computer. It was so easy to use, and I could add new things we learnt so quickly, that I rarely actually did the problems myself, and later on when I needed them, I found it kind of hard to remember everything. I still did fine with it, because I've always been really good at maths, but I knew, the reason I had trouble remembering the stuff, was because I'd been really reliant on that program I made, with it being so easy to use. So use this thing if you want to, but if it's something new you're starting to learn, and the function is built into this thing. Try not to use it until you've had a lot of practice and are sure you can remember how to do it.

LOL

LOL, Im pretty sure you wont find a program to do proofs, there are too too many possibilities, and if someone did make one, they would def. be a millionaire by now.
