Pandora's Box Easier-Installer - Image 1Homebrew developer XsavioR, known for his memory and backup app MS Master for your trusty PlayStation Portable, has released an easy installer for Noobz' and C+D's Pandora's Battery. This nifty little applet that runs on Windows should have enough information for folks preparing to unbrick their PSPs, plus it offers a one-button solution to execute Pandora's Box.

It's pretty straightforward, as XsavioR admits, so there's no FAQ to go with the easy installer. The developer does offer a step-by-step procedure, dotted with critical essentials, to using Pandora's Box Easier-Installer.

But requirements inherent to the Pandora's Battery procedures must be strictly adhered: an extra battery to act as the "jigkick" is mandatory. The process is as follows:
  • Download the .rar
  • Unzip with winrar
  • Run the setup (this part must be unzipped to c:)
  • Double click the Shortcut to Pandora's Box
  • Click the second button to launch the installer
And XsavioR wishes that all those who find this application - and the underlying Pandora's Box - useful to send in their donation to the team that realized the project: Create and Destroy (C+D).

Thanks to cj for the tip!

» Converter

Does this also include the converter to make it a normal battery again?

by NobleArc - 2007-08-29 18:51
» Yes.

If it has the original software, it has to, doesn't it?

Though you have to run it from your PSP, I think. You run the installer again, and press.. square? .. maybe?

» reversing the battery

Look inside Pandoras Battery creator, load it up with The eeprom.bin file on the root of your memory stick. Then Press L+R bumper . You will see the option . If you deleted it... A copy of eeprom.bin can be found at c:\pandorasbox\ batbin (assuming you used this to install)

» @DJ

yeah it does

go into the start bar and hit the run button, then in the text box type cmd and hit enter

you should see C:\documents and settings\yourna me>_

i still think microsoft should include a proper DOS command prompt with windows installations. i miss the old days i guess when i first got doom and wolfenstien.

on topic.

i dont see whats so hard about the original installation pandora

i made a magicstick and jigkicker quite easily.

the part to look out for is when you install the msipl.bin to the memstick using msinst.

because after the firmware installer gets the ipl from update.pbp and you run this command

(my PSP comes up F)

MSINST F MSIPL.BIN

you get a file not found because the msipl is still on the memstick

you can either move the file or run

MSINST F F:\MSIPL.BIN

It's the "Pandora's Box" installer. The name of his Pandora's Battery installer is "Pandora's Box."

People these days just don't read...

» @ME...

Thank you for not flaming. Anyway, I know that already. I do it all the time. It is just that my WXP (Home edition) doesn't run a lot of DOS-based apps. I even thought of running it when the pc restarts but you won't atually have access to the usb...

by easy - 2007-08-30 07:11
» just

just go in your command prompt and type in cd c: \ before you do that make sure mspformat.exe is in I have an hp so you put it in my computer hp_pavillion c now go in to tools on top of my computer click folder options then view unchek hide extentions for known files then go into command prompt type mspformat x

by DJ - 2007-08-30 07:12
» that...

is exactly what I am talking about!!! It doesn't run it at all. It shows it in a split-second then automatically closes. That is why I am hoping if the Noobz Team will ever improve the compatability, that is if they choose to. (I know they are going through a tough time.)

Your first to get on the yellow bus, Thanks Jack I am glad I didnt have to type it.

For you few people that cant get it to work there is an all inclusive Thread on Pandoras By Jas0nuk at Maxconsole, In the "PSP downgrading exploit and launchers" Forum Titled "Pandora's Battery - List of Guides, Downloads and Information" Please do check it out , a ton of work went into it i believe it will answer whats wrong.

Also It is mentioned elsewhere But the Memory stick MUST be PRO duo, 32MB - 2 gig Sorry for the typo.

» Bricked

You know not all bricks are related to being a noob. Even the most experienced coder can brick his PSP. And to give you a example Dark_Alex bricked his PSP before aswell. But just think back to the early downgraders. They were new and to a certain extent unstable. Or the m33-3 where if you happened to not know where to go for your PSP needs you get tricked into installing the bricking version. Just putting it out there that it's not all bacause of a lack of intelegence. Sometimes it's just downright bad luck.

by Devil - 2007-08-30 15:33
» Die Solidus...

Solidus, DA had a failure due to the UP he didn't brick ffs you piece of ***** die in hell! loser

That was supposed to be an equal sign after the exclamation, but QJ's "great" forum software changes many characters and deletes paragraph breaks if you post from Firefox on Linux. Feh.

» shows your age

command prompt is not equal to DOS

DOS is an operating system as windows is

DOS was alot more usable than today's command prompt

todays command prompt is a stripped down version of DOS

i was using DOS 6.0 and windows 3.11 in 1991-2

i can tell you DOS is better than command prompt

» Thank Team C+D

I really am happy so many people have found this useful (almost 600+ dls in 24 hrs) But the true thanks goto Team C+D, it was their hard work, dedication, and hours apon hours of time away from friends and family that made a program worth the time to make an installer for. The installer was my way of saying thanks to them, If you find it useful and want to express your gratitude, There is a link in the bottom button of the installer where you can make a donation to Team C+D.

» do it in command prompt then not windows

the reason it shows for a split second is because your running the program by clicking on it

or running the command in the explorer bar or run bar

open command prompt

connect PSP enable USB and note the drive letter

open run bar and type cmd in the text

when you see

c:/Documents and Settings/YourName>_

type

C:/pandora/mspformat.exe X

where X is your PSP drive letter
