PSP - Image 1

The Sony PlayStation Portable homebrew scene is definitely a sight to behold, as its dedicated and gifted members work tirelessly to unlock the fullest potential of Sony's handheld. This time, it's about the legendary Pandora Battery, and how Roomain, a member of the development forum GX-MOD, has rolled out his own piece of homebrew that lets us create a Pandora Battery with the 3.72 HX-1 firmware. Such an act was deemed impossible, until now.

Let's take a look at the readme file included in the archive, before anything else. This is translated via an online translation doodad, as the original readme is entirely in French:

This program allows you to create a battery Pandora on the firmware 3.72 HX-1 light It was impossible with the method sceKernelLoadModule (), I used a different method. You can find the source.

Based on Pandora Creator for 3.xx by HellCat; I did not remakes PRX;)

So the Pandora Creator for 3.72 HX-1 is actually based on the Pandora Downgrader for 3.xx by HellCat - which pretty much gives it a solid foundation as far as being stable is concerned. Do note that besides being able to use this homebrew to create a Pandora Battery, it can also downgrade PSPs with 3.72 HX-1 firmware back down to 1.50. Neat.

A word of warning: using this bit of homebrew can damage your battery. The guys over at GX-Mod stress that even if this new Pandora Battery Creator was indeed tested by a lot of individuals, there still is the chance that something might go wrong - so take all the necessary precautions. After all, who wants a bricked PSP?

Thanks to SeanPaul223 for the tip!

Kudos to your work. Everything helps but....

how hard is it really to port fro 371 to 3.72 since the kernel and syscall funcions are the same

for some reason homebrew does not work for me any more, on this cfw, is there some "kernel" or some magical file I need to install to get my psp back to working order?

I think it's great that pandora has helped so many trapped on certain firmwares downgrade. But my question is what about the people who don't have an extra battery and memory stick do? Won't someone PLEASE come out with a downgrader for 3.51 or above for those of us who don't or can't use Pandora?

Thanks

search the benheck.com forums for the pandoras with a homebrew PSP guide or go to psp-hacks.com/2007/10/22/one-wire-pandora-battery-no-software-required/

then search for Pandora's GUI on google(you will need the full version so a torrent may be needed)

use the two in conjunction to make a batter

well for cfw 3.72 hx-1 it clearly said in the description that there is NO 1.5 KERNEL SUPPORT. So you either have to a.)wait for it b.)downgrade to 1.5 or c.)go back to 3.71m33 with 1.5 kernel

If you go [url+http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t+78814]here and do that, you'll be able to run homebrew on this firmware.

Buy a 3rd party psp battery and a memstick pro duo. Total cost under 50 dollars. I'd say it's a good investment.

Just a word of caution. Don't be an idiot and try to downgrade your psp slim to 1.5 firmware with this or you'll end up with a nice little $170 paperweight.

can you not use original Pandora Battery with the 3.72 HX-1 firmware to downgrade it? What would happen if you did.? I thought original pandora could downgrade all psp's! Or is this just for people with 3.72hx-1 to be able to make pandora battery. But most of all my fist questions again. can you not use original Pandora Battery with the 3.72 HX-1 firmware to downgrade it?

What would happen if you did.? I thought original pandora could downgrade all psp's!

You can already recover to 1.50 from custom firmware with the recovery files, why is this nessacary?

That`s what I thought. If you can recover to 1.50 what is the point. Dose this mean 3.72 hx-1 screws something up and stops origional pandora working? Can`t you recover to 1.50 from custom firmware with the recovery files from within this custom firmware?

Don`t think I will try 3.72 hx-1 until I know the facts. I don't want to be having to make another magic stick just for this. I can`t spare another memory card for every custom firmware if this is the way cf is going.

# 1.5 Kernel.Esaar 2007-11-13 09:46
The point is the ability to make a Pandora battery without employing the 1.5 Kernel. All this does is enable you to create a Pandora battery on a PSP Slim without using the 1.5 kernel. Previously it was only possible to make it on the phat psp by using the 1.5 kernel.

Kinda superfluous since you'd need a Pandora battery to begin with in order to upgrade your slim to 3.71 HX, but still, that is what the main point is.

# So this means 3.71 hx on fat psp can bearnookie 2007-11-13 11:54
So this means 3.71 hx on fat psp can be recovered to 1.50 with regular pandora, or for that matter with the recovery console? Is this correct. Just wanting to check.

I'm pretty sure it was already possible to create a pandora battery with the slim, using the original C+D battery maker and Despertar del Cementerio v3 to make the magic ms.
