Operation Sanctuary

ONScripter is a free software implementation of the visual novel creation utility NScipter, under the GPL license. If you're not familiar with NScripter, it's an engine created by Naoki Takahashi that is used to create visual novels or interactive fiction. Usually anime-style art is used to depict the characters and to tell the story.

The game doesn't require you to do much, but push a button to keep the text, graphics and sound moving. The style of gameplay has been compared to the popular Choose Your Own Adventure novels. Popular visual novels include Narcissu, Operation Sanctuary and Tsukihime.

Ogapee has just release it's latest built for ONScripter. The site is written in Japanese and we just used an online page translator to get as much as we can. Here it is:

Changelog:

1. In regard to the cursor operation mode of the analog key.

To the memory stick correcting the bug which usual it is access.
Adding the setting which adjusts the drift speed of cursor the setting file.

2. Modifying the description method with the setting file of the analog key.
3. Adding the setting which makes the analog key itself invalid.

This release is not a game. It is actually a free software. It will allow you to make and edit video novels much like the NScripter, as I mentioned in the post.

Hentai games... hmm... There are a lot of genres under visual novels, that have explicit content, BUT, I wouldn't classify them as hentai, although they have been criticized, especially in the US for "pornographic content." Most of the games' sites would ask you if your are 18 or above.

Could'nt I make a little rpg game with this? All this has to do is have a least 2 different commands. Of couse no free roam. but command buttons are all i need. does this have command buttons?

What, exactly, is this? The download contains a bunch of batch files and some jar files, and the readme and the how-to linked in the article are evidently in Japanese.

I've tried running some of the batch files, but whatever they're doing doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

I got a game on the older version to work on a comment one of the admins must have deleted. I didn't work too great though. I will take another go at the newer version and see what I can do.

Those of you looking for hentai shouldn't be looking for visual novels, as their storylines are wasted on you. If you're just looking for something to fap to then find an actual hentai. However some of those visual novels are very good. Narssisu for one is very powerful and probably make anyone cry.

Spaces are completely ignored in the multibyte text (as they should be)... but they are also ignored in the 1-byte text... This doesn't make english text difficult to read, but it does give one a headache after a while. Is this just a 'bug' in the PSP version (NScripter handles this just fine), or has someone seen something from Ogapee regarding this?

it suck ass because it doesn't even implement a simple rescaling algorithm so you can't even get a full resolution. Why don't you actually finish your homebrew before releasing it?

You can't get full PSP-resolution images because the original images were almost never widescreen resolution. In addition, rescaling the images and recreating the NSA greatly decreases the size, which is a good thing. Since you DO have to rescale the images, feel free to completely ruin them by making them full-screen. Nothing like having a :) turn into a = }

Also, I suddenly notice that it isn't ignoring spaces, it just completely ignores the 1-byte flag entirely.

Problem half-solved. IANAC, so is there anyone out there who would like to release a binary with 1-byte character support enabled? The official ONScripter source now has it optional at compile-time.
