The OE recovery has ability to change cpu speeds, access usb for ms0, flash0, and flash1, and autoboot... so the only thing this REALLY adds is the ability to toggle flash2 and possibly flash3? Don't get me wrong, glad to see someone trying to pick up where DAX left off, just not sure this is the right way to go about it... thinking developers with skills like becus25 should be working on 3.51 OE or IE.. If the only new CFW developments we get are for "3.40 OE expansions" we will never progress..

This isn't a custom firmware, it's just another recovery which is used as autoboot. And besides, have you noticed that becus25 has based _ALL_ his CFW's on DAX' firmwares? I'm pretty sure there won't be a 3.51IE unless someone actually makes a *real* 3.51 CFW :P

3.40 OE does pretty much everything it needs to do. What we need now is someone to keep up with the official firmwares/update DevHook so we can continue to enjoy homebrew without sacrificing compatibility with newer games.

At least this provides hope that CFW will continue. Not sure as to what exactly this would add over what i already have in 3.40 oe (maybe someone could explain clearer than the article does) but when he makes 3.50/3.51 IE i sure will be updating.

This is the end of the CFW past 3.40oe. I don't think we will be seeing a 3.50/01 oe. Everyone will just have to buy the new PSP to play the newer games.

You just wait. Devhook could be updated, becus25 and others are obviously still around + working, hell, if enough people work on GoW there could even be an iso patch to avoid firmware checks. I mean just because DAX left the scene does not mean it's the end of homebrew, but with this pessimistic attitude, it will be. All you people telling everybody it's the end are just handing the victory over to Sony. I'm sure there will be another DAX, if it's not becus, than someone else will take the lead. Try to do everything you can do to support the PSP Homebrew scene. Remember "If there's a will there is a way". Now let us tell Sony that the homebrew community is still here to piss you off.

Becus25 is not the next Dark Alex. If you read through his threads regarding the OE extensions he creates you will see him say ''if no 3.51 OE is released then there will not be a 3.51 IE''. Currently Becus25 does not seem to have the in depth knowledge to do a 3.51 Custom firmware but he might have in the future. I wish people would stop making comments about him ''filling Dark Alex's boots'' or how he is the ''Next Dark Alex'' without even knowing anything about his knowledge and limits. Lets be real.

All i am going to say is let the dude do his work and wait and see. Its plenty of developers out there and im sure somebody has the know how. Maybe we dont need another DAX even though his work was great and appreciated. We may just need another person to step in and show us a different light in the PSP homebrew world. If we keep using DAX leaving as a crutch then we will never have progress for the future.

a hack might not be possible for 3.40 to 3.51 IE because all the files are different differnet encryptions n everything... But if there is a clean install maybe...but thats also whats keeping everyone down. the encrytions.

you need to reset default settings

After installing custom firmware, you should reset default setting. It will clear up blue screen of death and other problems.

Go to 3.40 OE-A. It has the same things as 3.03 OE-C now that custom XMB's work, plus a ton of patches and other things. 3.40 OE-A is currently the best firmware for PSP available.

Forget about Custom Firmware

All we need is oldskool 1.5 firmware and an updated Devhook that can run 3.51 and our own Psx dumps. I think Booster has the knowledge to do this but whether he will is another question.

Dark_Alex's Recovery Module, loads this Recovery Mode. So even if you brick your PSP, that extra recovery mode will not load, as it needs Dark_Alex's Boot File (vshmain.prx) to automatically boot it. I hate these *****ing n00bs.

I've read all the posts here & am amazed how some of you are quick to kick DA in the nuts, Lets see you take the likes of SONY on, can't be done, they have more mony & power then every one on this site put together. I suspect DA has got out while he can & who knows some thing may get releast with no name, you can't blame DA for doing what he has done, why shouldnt he save his ass.....? One thing for sure the home brew scene is world wide & some one some where at some point will release CFW it may just take some time before it happens....... I have to agree that although I give credit for doing anything to help the scene, there is a BIG difference between making an extension for an OE DAX creation and writing a new CF (like for 3.50 or 3.51). I very much doubt anything will come from this. Reminds me of the old days when loads of hex edits of DevHook kept appearing...
