Gambiting has come up with a Mandelbrot fractal generator for the Sony PlayStation Portable as an entry to this year's NeoFlash Summer Coding Competition. Aside from making cool Mandelbrot fractals, this app also comes with a zoom function.

According to Gambiting, this app currently has the fastest rendering possible for for the PSP "unless someone use assembler programming or Xaos algorithm". It currently has three fractal sizes: full screen (480x272), medium (250x200) and small (120x100). The bigger fractal sizes require more rendering time.

Users can also set the number of object checks per loop, with more checks resulting in more detail and longer rendering time. The default has been set to 100. At this setting, users can get 60x to 70x zoom with a rendering time of around 30 seconds. Gambiting has also set the maximum number of checks to 300 to keep the rendering times from getting too long. At this setting, users can reach as far as 500x zoom, but the rendering of a single zoom can take up to 5 minutes.

Check out Gambiting's Mandelbrot fractal generator by clicking on the download link below. It's pretty cool, even if you have to wait awhile when you're at the higher settings. And, like Gambiting said, you can probably use it to impress your Math teacher.

these can be cool to look at, but i like the other mandelbrot generator better.

» Yeah

Yeah, you're right, nothing changed - you are as stupid as you were then. You wouldn't do a fractal even if it consisted of 2 lines.
