Danzel has released a new version of him messaging service application known as AFKIM. AFKIM v3 comes in two forms and has a lot of new features and fixes that we're sure you'll all like.
Here are the list of changes and fixes since AFKIM v2:
Version 3:
- Much better, more usable program.
- Works in OE kernel, DHCP ONLY CURRENTLY, not sure why static IP address doesn't work.
- Faster display rendering (Keyboard lags less)
- Better wifi handling - User can rechoose which to connect to if connecting fails.
- Better menu system, lots more menu items.
- Away / Back
- Remove Account
- Reconnect to Wifi (No more quitting AFKIM to reconnect! yay)
- Get Buddy Details
- Rename Buddy
- Block/Unblock Buddy
- Delete Buddy
- Fixes related to pressing buttons, menus now continue scrolling if you hold up or down.
- Better connection handling.
- Many many code cleanups
- Fix memory leaks (introduce a new known one)
- Quit option.
- Ability to use start as well as X to go buddy select -> chat.
- FIX: Editing text box with space messes up display.
- FIX: Account details don't save sometimes.
- An Experimental OE version, tested in game310 folder with OE 3.10', seems to not work in 3.03.
- The OE Version works with WPA connections, you must use automatic network configuration however (DHCP)
- A 1.5 Version, tested in game150 folder on OE 3.10'.

What version do you use if your on 3.03 oe-c, i've tried the 1.5 version and put it in game and game150 but it doesnt load past the splash screen
Is it now possiblie to view also all the offline contacts on my server-side Contact List (on icq)? That'ld be neat-o...
i test the 1,5 on my 3,03 oe -c but the wifi connection failed why ?
on GAME OR GAME303. works fine. How do you send a message to a person.
why not use the recent pda keyboard code and add it in. It's in quake, text messenger, atari, why not in the instant messenger.

Now all we need is support for mobile phone buddies and it'll do it all (essentially) I dunno if bitlbee can handle that though, thats the only problem... Oh well, thanks for updating your app, its awesome !

FINALY ITS HERE!!!!! lol nice work i was tired of being kicked off all the time my only complaint is that you relly dident improve much this program could be so much better by making the gui much easier to use adding pda keyboard addind SOUND option to change fonts and color actualy showing name changes showing display pics and file transfers include those and there is no way u can u can loose danzel afkim ftw!!!!
@ich - if you use WPA then use the OE version, you will also need to use automatic IP assignment. Otherwise if you are using WEP/Open/Static IP then the 1.5 version should work fine. @me - say "blist off" in the server window and it will tell you, but other than that no.
Because I don't have an IR keyboard to test it with yet. Check the readme, its in the FAQ :P Otherwise, I'm keen.

i'm norwegian, and we have funny letters, when people write to me using those letters, half their sentences disappear.. unicode would be nice :)
I would of got em in but I hurt my wrist a week ago, so I haven't been doing much coding the last week. PDA Keyboard will come once I get one myself, the other bits are already on the todo list ;) You can already change the font if you replace the included font.ttf file, I haven't tryed it myself but it should just work. Try it and tell me how it goes, my email address is in the readme ;)
I used AFKIM v2 alot... like seriously... a ton, and now that v3 is out, the improvements are just great, I especially like the more responsive danzeff keyboard input, and all the new away and buddy options. But since I use it alot, I'm still waiting on the PDA keyboard support XD, that would make everything a whole lot easier. Keep up the good work with this awesome program!
How would i add a contact?...the add feature dont work. btw i use the OE version
There is theoretical unicode support. Replace the font.ttf with a font with full unicode characters then in the server window say: set charset utf-8 That might do it... I haven't tested this much so possibly not. You could also try "set charset unicode" maybe.
The add feature is to add your messaging accounts. Once you have added your messaging account (say your msn account) your online contacts from that messaging account will be shown in the right hand side list. To add buddies just add them on your desktop client, this will come to AFKIM in a future version.

i get to the screen says no bitbee name lets make 1 so i do then it just sits at the blank screen an says resolving wuts up with this garbidge.

A bitlbee account is different to your msn account. Create a bitlbee account by entering some new details (like: vinny/somepassword) then you will get connected and be able to add your msn account. Check out the getting started guide linked to in the readme, it explains all this and will get you going :)

Well now with the latest ability to use a keyboard with the psp headset jack as a serial port, we won't all need to go out and buy a ir keyboard. The serial keyboard will be great just for around the house and stuff, but for mobile a ir keyboard is the way to go. I plan to use the Ir keyboard and setup a notes program for college so I don't have to take my laptop in, just a psp and a little pda keyboard. Also save my books on the psp :)

How do I send a FRIGGEN message it dosen't describe how to in the README!
umm when i try to make my bitlbee account it just says resolving, but it dosnt do anything :(... or does it take a really really long time ??
How do u send the message on MSN? i can see them type to be, but i can't msg back
