PSP XMB - Image 1

Yeap, it's been a while indeed, but Red_Squirrel is back (he apologizes for the delay - studies and the holidays kept him busy, he says). Today we've got Alternative VSHMenu v6.1, an application that acts as an alternative to the M33 VSHMenu - which means, you can use this to tweak a bunch of stuff on your XMB and gives you other functionalities.

Since we haven't gotten around to reporting v6.0 on the frontpage yet, we'll be including that in the changelog below:

v6.1:
  • this is a little bugfix for v6.0!
  • Infact v6.0 had a bug that disabled the plugin in first position in VSH.txt when you exit from it. Now fixed. If you have flashed v.6.0, don't use the flasher (homebrew or Windows program) again, but manually replace vshmenu.prx in flash0:/kd/ with the new one.
v6.0:
  • Added FIVE new background colours
  • Now Alternative VSHMenù can not be started before of 3 seconds: in this way you can avoid console crashes when you accidentally start it during coldboot or returning from games.
  • Now there will be a pause of about one second when you exit from A. VSHMenù: in this way your key pressing will not have any effect on XMB (like happened in past).
  • Changed HIDE MAC ADDRESS function in AUTO USB CONNECTION: if you enable it, USB connection will be enable always in XMB! In this way when you connect a USB cable your PSP will be connected to your PC/PS3 without you have to press on special icon! (like in PSP-3000).
  • Changed CXMB PLUGIN function in LANGUAGE: now you can select your language from the menu of A. VSHMenù! In this first version, there will be only two language: Italian and English.
  • Changed M33 VSHMENU in SELECT KEY: now you can choose what to associate to SELECT key in XMB (M33 VSHMenù, a Homebrew, Nothing).
  • Erased all difference of code between CF 3.90/3.95GEN/4.01M33: now plugin will be the same in all CFs.
  • Added a homebrew-flasher for the plugin: it will flash the Alternative VSHMenù in your Flash0 directly from PSP without other steps!
  • Cleaned the code to try to compensate the increase of the PRX size caused by language translations.
Please check out the readme file included in the download archive for further instructions on installation and usage. Also, you may opt to drop in on the forums and give a shout out to Red_Squirell for further questions.

» major bug!

ok, so i download this and put it on my mem card. booted up my psp and i pressed "home" i really like the extra options and things, im thinking great but i like useing "select" to open the VSHmenu. i changed it so its select to open it, press exit, then press select to make sure it saved my settings. then boom, psp shuts down and wont boot for about 10 seconds. when it does boot i press select again and it happens again, so i disable the plugin and exit to the XMB. hold select to bring up the old VSHmenu and it doesnt work.

so now i cant use the VSH menu, not this 1 or the normal 1. can someone please help me and give me a fix. and yes i did try takeing off the plugin and putting it back on and it still set to "select" to open the menu.

please help me!!

» I had the same issue, here's the solution

same thing happened to me... it saves the configuration file in Flash1... so now that you have that bug, it stays no matter what you do... the solution is to go into Flash1 and delete the file red.squirrel Then just bring up alternative VSH Menu again by pressing HOME. If you want select to bring it up... change it beside VSH button... beside "Select button" change the value to "nothing"
