iR Shell v2.1 - nethostfs Mac

Dagowatt, a coder from the iR Shell forums, has released a new updated version of his nethostfs application for use with Ahman's recently released homebrew shell program for the PSP, iR Shell v2.1. nethostfs allows iR Shell to interface with your PC and load files from it. It permits you to view and execute applications using files from your PC via a WiFi connection - just like having your PC hard drive in your memory stick slot.

This latest version is a Mac OSX port for nethostfs v1.5. It is currently in a beta stage and as such may include a few bugs. The only known bug at the moment means if you listen to a .mp3, you can not open .JPG files from your PC. This has been tested with iR Shell v2.1, but any bugs should be reported to Dagowatt in order to improve this program for future releases.

Have fun browsing your PC with your PSP - no wires required! If you don't have a WiFi router, remember that you can find the Mac OSX version of usbhostfs (the same as nethostfs but using the USB cable instead of Wi-Fi) here.

» Adhoc on WiFi

Well, in case you don“t know there“s Adhoc on WiFi too if you kinda get some stuff of PSP v1.0

I think the most stupid thing made by Sony on PSP was to deny Adhoc connection to WiFi PC! That and that highly slow TFT screen... (not to mention the amount of dead pixels in so many PSPs...)

Can I make a BIG suggestion? Can“t nethostfs + pimpstream + irshell authors make a "IrShell" with all-in-one?

Irshell with:

- PC surfing

- Streaming capabilities

- Configurable conversion (eg: every AVI, ... I try to play/stream on PSP from PC with more than 480x272 is automatically converted to playable res by PC“s CPU)

- with a GUI on PC to configure/conversion settings?

- internal internet browser with flash support

- IrShell with an Icon to "flush" all the memory (it would unload every single plugin, cache, streaming, etc etc from the memory and keep only the basic shell in order to be kept in background on devhook and consume little memory) -> this way it could come a bigger "OS" and when needed it would unload everything and keep the basic shell.

- One single, updatable file with all IR Remote codes instead of single files (that take ages to copy, takes lots of space and FAT)

- PC Remote Desktop with WiFi

THAT, my friends, WOULD ROCK!!!!!

All of you are making a fantastic work, these are only suggestions of how several programs could become one major, fantastic, excelent, astronomic, etc etc program.

The skin is included with iR Shell v2.1, just go into iR Shell configurator and go to the skin browser.
