Links2

Links2 has now been released as a stand-alone application. Yep, you don't need to turn on PSPRadio and use Links2 as a plugin. The advantages of using this approach are big. You get more memory for Links2 since PSPRadio isn't running in the background. And Raf has tweaked it a bit. Here's a changelog:
  • SMB support is completely removed to free more memory.
  • Removed support for all languages except english to free more memory.
  • Removed japanese font to free more memory.
  • Use lite danzeff OSK now (no transparencies) to free memory.
  • Version reported includes the subversion revision now.
Plus, Raf has tweaked it so that Links2 is allocated more memory. This will decrease the number of crashes. But if you run out of memory, and Links2 tells you to press TRIANGLE, Press HOME instead and exit. Pressing triangle will cause it to crash."

It hasn't yet been tested under eLoader. If you'd like to have a go, please do. It might just be your lucky day. And thanks for the heads-up fool! Yeah, we actually have a member called fool in our forums!

» awesome

Great work. I can only see this getting better, and it is already so good now! Awesome speed. (y) Great also that you managed to get so much memory available, that leaves room for more good stuff. Eventually it would be great if you could configure stuff so that you can for instance use a unicode font if you want to, and if you don't you switch that option off and it won't take up the memory.

» Why it's the best

this browser is the best and here is y

Fastest PSP browser out right now (included firmware broswer)

Don't need as strong as a signal than other browser do

Good controls

Runs on 1.5 (other browsers do but this is the best one and the one that doesnt invovle any loading of prx's from other games)

One downside (i never tried the new version)

the memory problem when you dont have enough memory

if they can maybe they should have an option to use PSP's memory of your memory stick's memory

by lansingone - 2006-05-04 23:10
» like nothing else

il have to try it on my 2.0 before i downgrade and see if it works with eloader

» Just flash is missing

Great browser, now all we need is flash support...

b.t.w. is javascript supported??

by XyZZy - 2006-05-04 23:49
» Sweet....

seems to work faster, aload images faster...

but i seemto get a lot more "junk" on the screen that covers up other stuf (it goes away when i run the mouse voer it lke and eraser)...

and, no, not flash, what we need is music suport and animated gif(dunno, htose might work already) for ytmnd support!

» 22

22 go port your own browser

by XyZZy - 2006-05-05 00:23
» haha

i'm not a good programmer at all...i couldn't do it. i was just saying, animated gifs and music would probably be alot easier than integrating flash (something that Sony themselves apprently can't do that well either).

by cooldocy795 - 2006-05-05 01:05
» It officially does NOT work on a 2.6

I tested it out on my 2.6 and it began to load. Then it said "Found suspicious hard path at 08A74E48

ms0:/PSP/GAME/__SCE__PSPRadio /

Press a button to continue"

So I press X, and then the screen says

"Link2 for PSP

-Loading networking module..."

It sits there for a minute, forzen, then shuts off. I'm guessing it's calling to kernel for the networking modules, since it was designed for a 1.5 PSP. Which sucks because the XMB browser blows.

No you can't save to a specific folder, but you can just open up file assistant and move it to the folder you want it in.

Such a great browser and it just got better with the memory greatly increased!!

Who are the retards who are saying "let's use the mem. stick memory insted of the psp memory"

They are not the same kind of memory

the memory that links 2 refers to is like ram

the memory stick is like a hard gre(although it is flash)

» hells yeah

This is the BOMB!!! I heard if you back uo your 2.00 BROWSER files; before you downgrade to 1.5 than you could simply reinstall them after. BUT...I heard this AFTER i downgraded and the PSP seems to be rendered incapable of being upgraded again. This is an answer to my prayers ! THANK YOU wonderful hackers for all your hard work. You ppl are hero's to many across the world!!!! ***if you can't seem to connect then go to the PSP's main menu screen; go to NETWORK CONFIGURATION and scan to pick up your wireless signal ; then SAVE. Relaunch the browser and bada-bing!!! This is so f***ing great YESSSS!!!!!!!

by xtg - 2006-05-05 19:10
» hey

WELL you could use the MS for temporary storage, like a CACHE or page file windows uses. That would probably help go around some of the limitations, but PSP ram is still a complete peice of *****.

Would have been PRETTY damn slick if MSN messenger would work through wifi on a 1.5

» Help to all those having trouble connecting

To all of you out there getting the error message...

The problem is that this program as PSPradio does... have trouble with some connections list created by the firmware.

So the easiest thing to do is to restart your PSP configs before using the browser.

To do this go to System Settings>Restore Default Settings

Then after you introduced all your configs again. Set up a new infrastructure connection and try the prog again.

Yes this restarts all your personal configs... but hey! after this the program works like a charm!

Forgot to thank for this amazing port!!!!

Its and awesome release!!!!

And waaaaaayyyy faster than the 2.0 browser... dont know about the 2.7...tooooo coward to update

If there was something tempting about upgrading it was the browser... but with this one!!! Theres nothing a 1.5 user can ask from any other firmware!!!!

Sorry SONY... better luck next firmware!
