Links2 Standalone Web Browser r1090 |
Ó

Links2 has now been released as a stand-alone application. Yep, you don't need to turn on PSPRadio and use Links2 as a plugin. The advantages of using this approach are big. You get more memory for Links2 since PSPRadio isn't running in the background. And Raf has tweaked it a bit. Here's a changelog:
- SMB support is completely removed to free more memory.
- Removed support for all languages except english to free more memory.
- Removed japanese font to free more memory.
- Use lite danzeff OSK now (no transparencies) to free memory.
- Version reported includes the subversion revision now.
It hasn't yet been tested under eLoader. If you'd like to have a go, please do. It might just be your lucky day. And thanks for the heads-up fool! Yeah, we actually have a member called fool in our forums!

Congrats Raf. This is one amazing browser!
Thanks Raf!!!
This is what i've been waiting for all week!!
doest it have ssl ?
This is absolutely brilliant. A proper browser on firmware 1.5, I can't believe it. Many thans to Raf. :)
Damn, great work! A+ Job
Great work. I can only see this getting better, and it is already so good now! Awesome speed. (y) Great also that you managed to get so much memory available, that leaves room for more good stuff. Eventually it would be great if you could configure stuff so that you can for instance use a unicode font if you want to, and if you don't you switch that option off and it won't take up the memory.
Really great! Hope it works on 2.6...
All it needs now is to add the japanese fonts back in...
MUCH better!!!!!! lovin it!!!!
wheres the file to edit to put in the i.p?? the only c.fg say its generated etc??
RAF, you have done one "in your face" to sony's browser... LOL Is so fast and stable, also webs with lots of pictures (mwahahaha) are fully working.
GREAT!
Good Job!
Is there someway to support chinese font?
THX~~
This Browser needs a Lo-Fi Version of the PSP Updates Forums *hint* *hint* :)
this is awesome i am so happy you are special
i almost cried for joy when i loaded up some porn
seriously tho , woo hoo
this is brilliant, im loving it. can anyone sign into hotmail with this.
this browser is the best and here is y
Fastest PSP browser out right now (included firmware broswer)
Don't need as strong as a signal than other browser do
Good controls
Runs on 1.5 (other browsers do but this is the best one and the one that doesnt invovle any loading of prx's from other games)
One downside (i never tried the new version)
the memory problem when you dont have enough memory
if they can maybe they should have an option to use PSP's memory of your memory stick's memory
il have to try it on my 2.0 before i downgrade and see if it works with eloader
Great browser, now all we need is flash support...
b.t.w. is javascript supported??
seems to work faster, aload images faster...
but i seemto get a lot more "junk" on the screen that covers up other stuf (it goes away when i run the mouse voer it lke and eraser)...
and, no, not flash, what we need is music suport and animated gif(dunno, htose might work already) for ytmnd support!
Very nice, great job!
just typin this on my PSP the broser seems to work perfect with pics scaled to 60 but I miss the arrows on the right side it scrolls too fast withovt them
22 go port your own browser
i'm not a good programmer at all...i couldn't do it. i was just saying, animated gifs and music would probably be alot easier than integrating flash (something that Sony themselves apprently can't do that well either).
Very nice work! But I cant get it to work, cause I dont know where I can choose which connection to use. Strange enough.
Does it work on 1.5...... JK
great browser...
didn't crash even though i turn on load images..
but i didn't dare to surf pspupdates though.. scared it'll crash like the previous one.. haha
this is awsome kuz now i can actually view images on it b4 it use to lock up with not enough memory
tried on pspupdates..
no problem loading all the images.. yeah..
but it's weird..
i can't post anything here from my psp..
i can login.. and it goes back to the main page.. then i click on the comments link to post stuff.. it will just direct me back to the main page,.. and says that i'm not logged in.
I tested it out on my 2.6 and it began to load. Then it said "Found suspicious hard path at 08A74E48
ms0:/PSP/GAME/__SCE__PSPRadio /
Press a button to continue"
So I press X, and then the screen says
"Link2 for PSP
-Loading networking module..."
It sits there for a minute, forzen, then shuts off. I'm guessing it's calling to kernel for the networking modules, since it was designed for a 1.5 PSP. Which sucks because the XMB browser blows.
Very good,
m.gmail.com not run, in future version it run?
Thanks Raf this is one cool browser fyi this comment was made with it
Thanks!!!!! :)
Finally a web browser for psp. Keep it updated:) That is what I was missing in my psp. The only problem is that some companies force users to login (proxy) and I cannot get it to work that way.. What I do is spoof my PC mac and then turn on PSP and it works like a charm:)
Excellent work Raf!
Finally a good standalone browser for 1.50 users :)
Without a doubt one of the finest pieces of homebrew... along with PSPRadio ofcourse ;)
Keep up the good work, we all appreciate it!
p.s. Short question... implementing SSL support, is it possible?
finally managed to send msg from my psp
just wanted to know how ppl got this program to work?
coz it keeps giving me an error when it gets into the program>> running 1.5>>>
P.S. Thanx for the browser raf>> been waiting for a good browser for the 1.5 system>>
but only prob is its not working on mine>>>
someone plz gimmie instructions on how to get it working.....
thanks in advnace
How much memory is avaliable now? The PSPRadio plugin had 8meg right?
where do u save it on ur psp
This is absolutely great!! But i would like it more if it can handel CSS better, i know this will kill the memory, but what is with swaping on the the memory stick?
greetz!
how hard would it be to have this browser(or any for that instance) use the memory stick to fix the memory problem?
I'm running FW1.5 with 4gb HDD and I get an error messege every time I try to load. Has anyone successfully launched this from the Datel HDD? If so what did you need to do?
I have a 54mbps router and still getting choppy video. To those with full speed video: do you have a 108mbps connection?
I have a question though. How do you choose you connection? Does it just always use connection 1?
this browser can play videos?
hey i coneect 1of 4 2of4 3of 4 but the 4th connect in link2 and its write cancel and after i cant do anything what is worng thx u
i've got the same error than above :
get message "Error loading http//:pspradio.berlios.de/link2/app_link2.html" from the browser overlaid with a two line white on black message "connection state 4 of 4 : Connected!".
but even if y put an url it does not work, "looking for host endlessly, is there a way ?
Can someone help us plz :)
^^^ For example, save a movie to the the specific movie folder
i can also not get it to work, can someone read this and tell us what they did lol
i konw why it does not work, the soft connects only on the first configuration network you put in your psp, try erasing the first one or exchange it with the good one ;)
Also here at 1.5 problems to connect..
whenever i try to load any page it says that the "connection was refused"
help please and thankyou
whenever i try to load any page it says that the "connection was refused"
plus i only have 1 connection and it works it tryed static ip and dynamic (auto manual)
help please and thankyou
Hi, I haw the same problem ("error") as many of you, and I couldn't connect to the net, so I tried by deleting all my network configs and making another one. One it works great.
It look like for some kind of strange reason it sometimes doesn't recognice the existent network configurations.
I hope it this can help some of you guys.
PD: GREAT PROGRAN, KEEP IT UP.
Thanks man. This is a really great new addition to both of my 1.5 FW P$P's. And yes, I'm typing this on a P$P.
WOW!!!! im hoping for this to support tsl/ssl soon!! haha
links2 is super fast but when i try to go to certain websites like facebook it wont load. it will just stay on ok
51,
No you can't save to a specific folder, but you can just open up file assistant and move it to the folder you want it in.
Such a great browser and it just got better with the memory greatly increased!!

Who are the retards who are saying "let's use the mem. stick memory insted of the psp memory"
They are not the same kind of memory
the memory that links 2 refers to is like ram
the memory stick is like a hard gre(although it is flash)
OMG! Thank you very much for this homebrew! I personally use Links2 almost everyday on my linux box! I'm very excited to see this one on my psp!
gj raf no ssl though
where should i save this file to ? my memory stick ? which folder ? how to use this application ? sorry i am a newbie that just buy psp today ... mine is version 1.5
This is the BOMB!!! I heard if you back uo your 2.00 BROWSER files; before you downgrade to 1.5 than you could simply reinstall them after. BUT...I heard this AFTER i downgraded and the PSP seems to be rendered incapable of being upgraded again. This is an answer to my prayers ! THANK YOU wonderful hackers for all your hard work. You ppl are hero's to many across the world!!!! ***if you can't seem to connect then go to the PSP's main menu screen; go to NETWORK CONFIGURATION and scan to pick up your wireless signal ; then SAVE. Relaunch the browser and bada-bing!!! This is so f***ing great YESSSS!!!!!!!
tthis is some really nice homebrew, keep the updates coming!!!
WELL you could use the MS for temporary storage, like a CACHE or page file windows uses. That would probably help go around some of the limitations, but PSP ram is still a complete peice of *****.
Would have been PRETTY damn slick if MSN messenger would work through wifi on a 1.5
To all of you out there getting the error message...
The problem is that this program as PSPradio does... have trouble with some connections list created by the firmware.
So the easiest thing to do is to restart your PSP configs before using the browser.
To do this go to System Settings>Restore Default Settings
Then after you introduced all your configs again. Set up a new infrastructure connection and try the prog again.
Yes this restarts all your personal configs... but hey! after this the program works like a charm!
AVMexican from Mexico to the world!
Forgot to thank for this amazing port!!!!
Its and awesome release!!!!
And waaaaaayyyy faster than the 2.0 browser... dont know about the 2.7...tooooo coward to update
If there was something tempting about upgrading it was the browser... but with this one!!! Theres nothing a 1.5 user can ask from any other firmware!!!!
Sorry SONY... better luck next firmware!
AVMexican...
Thank you for this great work :)
Seems much more stable than the old version inside pspradio
when i start it its write 1of4 2of 3of4 load file 0 1 ...... and the 4 of 4 conected is in links2 and i got a window its write cant conect to homepage cancel i can go on net by file go to URL but why icant get the homepage its same for u all ??? thx u

Could anyone describe how to do when you get this 'Connection Refused' message? I've tried to make a new connection and reseting system settings, none of it is working... Help, thanks!
Hey, i connect fine when i do it through test connection in the set up bit
Then i go to this program, but the blue light doesnt turn on so it doesnt connect.
