PSP-owners-slash-audiophiles, listen up! Coder Sakya visited the QJ.NET PSP Development forums earlier to announce that the LightMP3 homebrew music player has been updated to Version 1.7.0. This latest release hosts several changes and bug fixes, such as the addition of an options screen. Quoting the readme's changelog:
  • Added:
    • Options screen
    • muted volume in settings file
    • Fadeout when skipping track
    • Option to set initial brightness check (on with warning/on without warning/off)
    • Volume boost value is saved in the settings file and restored at startup
    • MP3 playback via Media Engine (plays fine with CPU @ 20Mhz) (many thanks to joek2100)
    • ATRAC3 playback (*.aa3, *.omg, *.oma) via Media Engine (plays fine with CPU @ 20Mhz) (many thanks to joek2100)
    • FLAC playback (via libFLAC). Unfortunately plays fine with CPU @ 130Mhz. (many thanks to JLF65)
    • Automatic cpu clock based on filetype.
  • Fixed:
    • Directories are now listed before files.
    • Conflict with Music prx (the module is stopped and unloaded at startup).
    • Suspend error (the app now doesen't make the psp shut down, but music doesen't restart when resuming. You can skip to next track).
  • Notes:
    • Playing MP3 via Media Engine Volume Boost and FFWD/REW doesen't work
    • Playing ATRAC3 Volume Boost doesn't work
    • Initial clock frequencies are higher than needed (to avoid problem if you have some active prx that interferes with the app), try to lower them.
    • Adjust your options
We advise the readers to view the file's readme for proper installation and usage instructions. We also invite you to visit Sakya's thread over at the Qj.NET PSP Development forums to leave your feedback, and to report any experienced bugs.

Media player

Simply put, it's an MP3 player for the PSP that supports several other audio file types. Its biggest features are its low CPU and power requirements. The file readme should have complete details on this app.
