LightMP3 v1.4.0 - Image 1

Tipster popsky alerted us on PSP homebrew developer sakya's newest release, a new version of LightMP3. Those who like this media application will be glad to know that the app is now on version 1.4.0.

In the unfortunate case that you've been living under a rock, here's a bit of a primer. LightMP3 is a media player that can stretch your battery to up to nine hours with the display on. With the display off, your battery can last up to eleven hours. Pretty nifty if you're running out of juice and there's not a power outlet in sight.

There were a number of changes made for this release:
  • Added: Audioscrobbler log (disabled by default look a the settings file).
    • The app writes a .scrobbler.log file you can upload to your last.fm account through this page: http://paulstead.com/scrob/
  • Added: Settings (CPU/BUS clock, EQ) are saved in the file settings
  • Added: you can switch from old or new volume boost method.
    • Default is new method.
    • Check the settings file(it"s commented).
  • Added: display of instant bitrate
  • Added: Playing a single file will actually play the directory (starting from the selected file)
  • Added: the app is a little lighter, you can lower cpu 2/3 mhz more (if not using EQ or volume boost).
    • Many mp3 of mine are now playing good with the cpu at 65/67mhz (with 1.3.0 was 70mhz)
  • Fixed: File without ID3 now display filename in playlist
  • Fixed: Trying to open a file too big will show an error (and not make the app crash)
  • Fixed: The app now correctly exits pressing HOME.
  • Fixed: some bugs in the playlist editor (removing the last song, clearing the playlist)
Also, sakya added that the "display" problem has been fixed. The display and the light can now be turned off by pressing the Start button. Before you go on and try it out, remember to check out the readme file for the installation instructions and other stuff.

Thanks popsky for the tip!

Does this allow files in subdirectories to be added to the playlist yet?

Great little app for those of us who play a lot of music, Thanks to sakya for some good work.

@ Snarg, Yes it does. Select the directory and hit start to add it to playlist.

Nice! But do you have to add the entire directory?

I love this app! The only thing that this really needs now is to support .wma files. I have all of CDs ripped to my computer in .wma format instead of .mp3 format, and there is no way that I am going to convert over 500 cds of music :P Please, if there is anyway possible to add wma support, thats all I'd need to make this app perfect for me ;)

# aac supportGuest 2007-08-06 07:01
I think it needs to support aac files!

This way you can get much more music on your memory card, with the same quality as mp3 files.

The original music player on the psp supports them...
