Joysens 1.42: UMD driver compatibility fix - Image 1A couple of days ago, we reported that developer Raphael released an update for the JoySens plugin for the PSP. While the update carried a ton of improvements, it also unintentionally introduced some new issues.

Because of this, Raphael has released the homebrew's version 1.42. Here are the fixes that this new build will implement:
  • fixed compatibility issues with Sony UMD driver (and possibly some other applications that require more kernel memory)
  • The config file system now uses a mere 1Kb of RAM where it used 24+Kb in 1.4/1.41
  • Reduced module size a bit (to further help memory problems)
  • added a workaround info output for POPS (flickers a lot, but at least you see something)
  • fixed the adjust calculation to avoid crashes for high values (shouldnÂ’t happen anymore even with adjust 32.0)
  • fixed a little Button remapping bug
For those asking, JoySens is a plugin that enables you to tweak the sensitivity of the PSP's analog stick according to your personal taste. The author has tested this app on custom firmwares 3.10-OE-A, 3.40-OE-A, 3.51 M33-7, 3.71 M33, and 4.01 M33.

Full details on installing and running JoySens are available in the readme and FAQ documents included with the file bundle. Enjoy the download, and be sure to visit Raphael's release thread at the QJ.NET PSP Development Forum should you run into any problems.

*Update*
Raphael has just released JoySens version 1.42b, which addresses a bug that was affecting the plugin's file settings every time users attempted to save their configuration settings in-game or on the VSH menu. Those who picked up version 1.42 earlier are advised to download this update asap.

But I must go back to Joysens 1.3 for my psp classic 4.01m33.

Joysens 1.4 added the ability to map the analog to the X O ^ [] buttons, while playing games this isn't useful because I prefer the ability to easily and quickly switch the d-pad back and forth between analog and directional control. The remap to the face buttons just gets in the way, I have to press the remap button an extra 4 times to get past it.

This new update, 1.42b, I tried out, and doesn't work... everything I try to do doesn't work at all.

1.42 works however it doesn't seem to see the joysens.ini, I have the remap button set to RTRIGGER so to swap the d-pad with analog I hold note and press RTRIGGER and the sensitivity goes up 10%. I'm glad to see this was fixed in 1.42b but as I said that version seems to be broken in my psp.

So I'm just glad that psp v4.01 can still run joysens 1.3, which works perfectly in all modes ;)

I finally got it to work, ( sober today ;p )

Now if only there was a way to disable remapping to the face buttons and it would be perfect. But I'm still using it anyway.

Thanks again for the awesome plugin, Raphael!
