JBG Flash Pack released for PSP v2.70 only |
Ó
Lupin in our forums, of group JBG, has released a pack for playing Flash files on PSPs with v2.70 firmware, called the JBG Flash Pack.Basically, most Flash sites viewable on the PSP are too resource heavy, and therefore the browser renders the site inaccessible. With this pack you can view any Flash file you save onto the PSP's memory stick and then launch it anytime you choose. All files are referenced using an easy text index.html file. Simply drag and drop the folder included in the download to the root of your memory stick and open up the web browser, enter file:/hs/index.html in the address bar (then bookmark it!).
Install notes:
Drag and drop included folder to the root of your memory stick.
Open up your PSPs 2.7 Web Browser and type:
file:/hs/index.html (Bookmark it for quick access later on)
And choose what you wish to view.
Once the Flash is over or you wish to watch something else simply press L to go back to the main page
Included are 14 Flash files, mostly animations, and it is planned for the next release to include more Flash games and animations along with enhanced HTML, instead of plain text.

I hope that sony will take adventage of this enovation toward the PSP to add vector drawings and movement in video games. Grafficaly better and also cheaper on size. Sony is on a good path believe me.
I'm still running on 1.50 for LUA developpement and homebrew full accessibility :-p but flash might be the only reason why I would upgrade. Anyways peace out.
ps: comments 4 and 8 are a proof of lack of intelligence in most youth these days. Improving Flash is positive. Dissing dosn't help. If you don't like it play with yourself.

Turn off the cache and enable Flash in the system settings

i'm sure anyone (including me) who updated to 2.7 don't give a rats ass about homebrew (NDS homebrew owns PSP homebrew) ... otherwise they would left it on old firmware
i personally like the new firmware and it's made me anxious for the upcoming releases .. hopefully the Downloadable demos flood is soon to start!

But I do have a problem. I know I installed the files correctly, as I am able to view the included flash files... no problem at all.
My problem is this, I saved the flash Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny to my memory stick, altered the .html file and all... but when I click on the flash to start it... as it begins to load... "There is not enough memory."
I did change the settings on the cache, and cookies... but this one file will still not open... WTF!!! This was the one flash I was interested in porting around...

You place the hs folder next to the psp and MP ROOT folder, not in mp root.

Drop it on the root of the memory stick (not under the PSP folder), browse to it as instructed (disable cache) and everything works perfect. Sound and everything. If you say otherwise, you are doing something wrong. Don't blast the guy that dropped this stuff, blame yourself for being unable to follow directions.

I tried out some games, and honestly, Sony hasnt perfected it yet. Basic games like Curveball run at about 5 fps, whereas more complex games like Madness Interactive and Thing-Thing Area dont load because of a memory error. Hopefully Sony will fix this by the time firmware 3.0 comes out.

I've tried with the cache on at full 2048, and off completely, but it doesn't make a difference. Has anyone else experienced this?

First of all this only works on 2.7!!!! only!!!!!!!!!! so YOU MUST UPGRADE!!!!!!!! !!!!! to 2.70
and to get it to work... i have a better way
put it in common folder and type this EXACTLY in internet browser!!!!!!!
file:/psp/common/hs/index.html
if typed exactly, it should work... thats as easy as its gonna get...
oh yeah... ONLY ON 2.70!!!!!! ( i yelled so i made my point clear and so people who cant figure what only 2.70 means, they will know

DONT TYPE HS INTO YOUR BROWSER URL
Just type file://index.html
Or if you threw it into any other folder like the PSP or the PSP Common folder type:
file://psp/index.html or file://psp/common/index.html
Im amazed that they keep saying HS. Does anyone think this just might be related to certain mem sticks or firmwares released throughout the world?

To install:
1) Use WinRar or something similar to open -- it's a compression like Zipping but different.
2) Take the hs folder and place it directly into your PSP drive, which we will call "x". It should look like this:
x:/hs/
3) Open the PSP browser, and type in:
file://hs/index.html
then open the page.
4) Bookmark the page for future use.
5) Enjoy!
Troubleshooting :
1) Why can't I hear anything?
You must enable Key Tone in your Sound Settings in the PSP's main settings menu.
2) It won't load!
Set your cache to the largest size, and try again. Also check to ensure you have the path name correct.
3) How do I add my own Flash?
You must place it in the folder on your memory stick you want, then edit the index.html file to point a link to the file.
4) My Flash file keeps getting an error like "There is not enough memory." or "Content cannot be displayed." What's wrong?
The Flash file is too large to load into the PSP's cache memory. Either use a program to compress it, or go without for now. A good compression program is Flash Optimizer.
