IR Shell Special edition coming soon |
Ó
Parts of the homebrew scene went in mourning after the world-famous iR Shell developer Ahman released the final version of his multi-tasking Infrared capable shell which combined well...just about everything you can do on a PSP into one package. Now you guys can come out of your 'shell' as Ahman says that a new release is coming soon! The dev has continued to release beta versions of iR Shell exclusively to beta testers, and over time, these beta releases have built up a tally of decent features that the homebrew public would love to see, and it is for this reason that Ahman has decided to release another version of iR Shell.
Here's a few of the features you can expect in the next version of iR Shell courtesy of Sinx from xmb-psp:
- Allows the use of the 4th brightness setting (maximum) on the LCD. Normally, you can only set the 4th brightness when connected to a power adapter. This new version allows you to activate the 4th brightness anytime by pressing "Left Trigger + Brightness". The setting will also carry over to DevHook firmware emulation when iR Shell is active. To return to normal brightness, press the "Brightness" button.
- The iR Shell Restart key (L+R) under devhook will reset your PSP back to iR Shell under fw 1.5, provided you've installed the iR Shell custom firmware mod.
- Allow redirection of PSP keypad to PC Keyboard or PC Joystick via USB. Devhook 2.71 fw emulation is also supported which means you can use a PC Joystick for SOCOM or Syphon Filter.
- Updated the launch XMB function, so you can leave the game disc in the UMD drive when launching XMB. It will now detect your disc type. If you've a UMD Video disc, it will launch the movie automatically. If it's a UMD Game disc, it will skip the auto-launch and just goes to XMB.
- This version allows you to choose a bitmap image or pmf movie as splash screen. The included sample is Xbox 360. You can try to make your own splash movie. However, it seems pretty complicated.
- Use iR Configurator to choose startup splash type.

Wow IRShell is already a top-notch application, how do you get even more ideas to add to it o.o
I can't wait to get this. Ahman is the man. People should donate money to him for this app.
Wow this keeps on getting better and better.
It's possible for 2.71SE to execute eboots upon startup, isn't? Alternative XMB on startup, here I come!
that brightness thing gives me an idea. wonder if you can edit stuff in devhook to allow the 4th brightness w/o the power adapter
will this version be compatible with 2.71 ta-082 psps. desperately need to try this on my psp. please say it wll. anyway excellent news on irshell.
I think you can use ir shell by emulating 1.5 with hen c and devhook although cant be sure as I'v never been on vanilla 2.71
So, mabey I've been under a rock, but this is like another firmware? Isn't that what XMB is, the firmware menu???
a cooler gui.
This app get more and more amazing!! Can't wait to play psp games using my keyboard!!! Thats insane! Better yet imagine playing with a joystick (like a steering wheel) for games like Ridge Racers 2. This is definitely the best app made so far. By the way, this will run on the latest DA 2.71 SE_B'', just so you know.
does that mean we can type documents in to the psp ...or does the keyboard have to be connected to the pc ?? probably the latter .. Ryan , ishell is a shell program that sits ontop of the firmware allowing you easy access to everything on one screen. plus u can do stuff like read bookr/ view images/play games while listenign to music...... toggle usb on n off with just a nudge of the anologue stick .. and all that stuff.
also u can send a file to another psp
i'll try this... but yeah....
Visit iRShell.com today. We would be happy to answer any question you have. I am a beta tester for iR Shell, and I can tell you, the conrtoll redirection will be a little tricky so if you are having problems, join our community. The article forgot to mention that there is macro support for controll remaping. I'm so glad you guys will get to use all of these features!
USB peripherals? On the PSP? AWESOME.
long live Ahman, I've been waiting for the 4th level brightness hack for some time now, as the PSP is too dark for bright environments
Keep in mind you have to have a computer running usbhost or nethost for this to work. A usb controller canot plug directly into the psp. Note that if you have a wireless controller (like an xbox 360 controller) and a wifi router, you could make a pretty sweet setup allowing you to use your xbox 360 controller to controll your psp from anywhere in your house (or where ever you set up your net)
ohh yeah.. one more to the list...great apps
Yes, this version will have limited support for 2.71 ta-082 users. Not everything will work. But a lot will !
you can also use your pc's harddrive as a giant memroy stick, run homebrew on your pc via usb cabe or wifi, run wifi homebrew through adhoc gaining internet access through your pc with only a wirless card and no router, stream music and movies. this the asome all in one.
Back again... guess who's back... Tell a firend... Ahman's BACK Ahman's BACK Ahman's BACK Ahman's BACK Ahman's BACK
I'm a beta tester and have been using this for nearly a month. It's true, it works, and it won't be long. Don't forget IRShell. Ever.
Amen to that brother!
I was really worried that the whole SE-B" thing would leave iRShell crippled forever.. I'm glad Ahman decided not to leave quite yet
Wow.. This app looks awesome! Keep it up guys! btw, is it possible to run Apps off the computer hard drive instead of the memory stick via usb?
how do you load this on your psp?
and via wifi too!
With magic!
uh oh it's magic. its magic. AHMAN is Teh wicked! He and Dark_Alex are teh hardcore!
So what about watching the psp on the pc using the usb cable? is it possible?
with magic anything is possible!
this is a SHELL... hope that helps
you got no star cuz everyone think y our stupid? lol
why?
" this the asome all in one" limited time offer , buy now , we give u big discount .
lol
Mehh, not THAT big of a whoop. I'm fine with just my harleyq's custom, DH 0.46, SNES Tyl, PSP game torrents, and my beautiful girlfriend Alyssa. One of the only appealing features, to me at least, of iR Shell is it's ability to play your own music during a game. Imagine blasting Iron Maiden to Killzone: Liberation, or some nice Edith Piaf or Luciano Pavarotti while playing Medal of Honor: Heroes. I'm just wondering if this feature will be implemented: playing music via USB or WiFi on your PSP during a game (not limited to.) Having the ISOs on the memory stick ends up taking all the music space. =( Playing ISOs via WiFi on PSP is pretty choppy, so playing music via WiFi sounds just friggin' cool. Maybe that's been done already, I don't know. Just make sure you implement the freedom to play audio files via USB or WiFi on the PSP.
LOL TO UR POST
ISNT IT THE OTHER WAY AROUND
why the f*** does everybody want this app. ok it got the playing music while gaming feature. But does it have any other useful feature. Doesn't think so. To me it just takes space that could be used otherwise. THIS SUXX!!!!
This is exactly what I am now doing on my PSP. It actually works very well.

LOL :) This app has the largest feature set of any homebrew app out there. Maybe you just haven't ever used it yet. Or you simply don't have a need for any of these: * custom in-game music * file browser with copy/paste/rename etc * Universal Infrared Remote control with support for thousands of devices * Screenshot function that works anywhere, anytime * adhoc wifi file transfer between two PSPs (for any file, not just savegames like the Sony XMB) * Full USBhostFS and NetHostFS support (access MP3s, homebrew, PMP, AVC and MP4 movies and other files on your PC via USB or WiFi) * Plugins (TXT/PDF/PMP/AVC ...) * Image viewer with scaling * ... There's so much more stuff I can't think of right now :)
i wonder if sony will ever release an update that can take screenshots and multi-tasking like custom in game audio. if they did this it wud be great.
nice ideas. HAVE U EVER HEARD OF SKIN SUPPORT KIEL??
right on bro i would love to jam out while playing some medal of honor
*****ing ***** take your crying else where must be a lil kid or something lol
has there been official word of it to work on 2.71 SE?? im missing irShell so much...

thank you very much Ahman, releasing this new update is every psp user's wet dream ^_^ cheers!!
you should start donating to him AJ
can 2.71 SE-B" run irshell if not y?
how do u put it on your psp please help!
I consistently have found that the only lacking area of iRShell in the last release has been the image viewer. Curiously (at least to me), it seemed to lack the professional sheen that the rest of iRShell had in spades. I couldn't seem to find any way to scroll large images (leaving comic readers out in the cold), and it lacks any sort of filtering to smooth out scaled pictures (pixelation ahoy at anything less than 100%). A good, solid image viewer to pattern iRShell's after would be the Japanese-dev'd JView. I've tried many image viewers, and at least for Jpegs, that one's performed the best. A plugin would work as well, though obviously a better image viewer within iRShell itself would be most efficient. I'm not complaining; don't get me wrong--iRShell is an excellent piece of work, and I don't have any problem with manually loading up JView to read comics. Just giving suggestions, should you ever want them.
