Want the functionality of an iPhone or iPod but don't want to pony up the cash? Well, your PSP can do whatever these other gadgets can do with ChrisTek and Epixx's iPSP v1.10. ChrisTek called our attention (thanks for the email!) to this program and we're glad that he did, because it is one of the most robust portals we've seen to date.The iPSP is a portal designed to look and run like an Apple iPhone, and it contains several applications and games for your use. They've fixed some of the previous problems such as the out-of-memory issue that plagued the earlier release. Here's a short list of what you can expect from this program.
- Digg: The Digg application is an easy-route to get to the social-news website, Digg. It's a great site, and I recommend going to it on your PC as well, by going to http://digg.com.
- Photos: The Photos application displays up to ten photos that you choose, at 5-second intervals.
- Calculator: The Calculator application is just that. A calculator.
- Lock: The Lock application is more for eye candy. It's basically a manually-activated screensaver, and is great if you want to show off your sexy PSP's screen. Just try it. You'll think it looks cool too.
- Weather: The Weather application provides easy access to your local weather. It requires a wireless internet connection. Simply input your zip code and, thanks to Weather Underground, your local weather is displayed.
- iPod: The iPod application allows you to listen to music via PSPTunes. iPSP includes PSPTunes installation files if you donÂ’t already have it installed.
- Browser: The EXPEDITION browser is your link to the web, while using iPSP. It has multiple tabs, and all the things you would expect a browser to have. The icon that looks like a book is for your own links, which are read from the PSPÂ’s favorites menu.
- Games: The Games application is very simple, and is your access-way to the Flash games that come with iPSP. Simply choose a game to play it.
- About: The About application gives you legal and creation info about iPSP, as well as your current iPSP version.
- Messengers: The Messengers application is your gateway to the mobile messengers provided by eBuddy. They are: AIM, MSN, and Yahoo!
- Mail: The Mail application is your gateway to the most popular mobile mail providers. The providers are:Yahoo Mail, GMAIL, AOL Mail, and Windows Live mail.
- Vipr: The Vipr application is your gateway to the Vipr Online Media Service. At the time of iPSP's release, Vipr is still in production, so check back frequently for more updates on it's status.

im getting this for sure...hope they keep it updated
I tried it. It looks really good but it is created with Flash and the PSP can't handle it. The psp is constantly out of memory so much that it is painful to use this thing. I am a Flash web designer and it is sad that the PSP can't handle 500kb Flash files.
so which part of this is the phone part?
Not to rain on this guy's parade, but there's already a mac app out there called iPSP.

It's a beautiful app, but totally useless, you get an "out of memory" error in every minute..
By looking at it it looks like you made gui for other peoples work then couldn't even be original with a name :(

These little trinkets are nice and all, but the whole point of the iPhone is the PHONE capabilities.

someone already mentioned, you can't even use it as a phone... and the WHOLE appeal to the iPhone isn't just the phone+apps... it's the TOUCH screen... which by the way, you ALSO CAN'T do on the PSP...
i like the PSP... i play games on it... sometimes i listen to music and watch a video on it... and when i'm really bored... i'll surf the -intarweb- with it (just for kicks, since my fully hooked up computer is just a few feet away)... i wouldn't mind using it as a PDA with the right apps... but i have no inclination to pretend it's something else (like touch-screen-phone).
as for it being a portal... i have no inclination to using those either... not my thing.
if there's ever a 3rd party device that allows it to connect into a telecommunicati ons network (most likely via usb like the GPS devices)... then, we'll talk some.
No, iPhone is rubbish as a phone, but great as an ipod/multimedia player.

It looks nice, but very slow, and useless like most portals. Just get an iphone if you can afford it.

all pda style phones are rubbish as phones... i have had many generations of them and they have been and always will be crap as a phone. who wants to carry around a huge sensitive touch screen device in their pocket everywhere they go? i learned my lesson from the audiovox thera
It looks cool but it is useless. All of the games will not run. So I guess if you want an IPhone screen this would be the app for you.

Um, you cant downgrade a 3.51 psp, at least not yet. no offense but anybody who upgrades to 3.51 is a fool, it provides no improvements over 3.50, the only change is that the Lumines exploit has been patched making a downgrade immpossible.

We actually made all the graphics from scratch (with the exception of about half the icons), with the iPhone as an inspiration. Of course, you wouldn't know that, because you didn't read the readme. You responded with your head up your ass without ever trying it.
