DevHook Firmware Installer - Image 1Ah, DevHook. Just the sheer mention of it sends shivers down the spine. So, you can just imagine our joy when homebrew coder Sleepy566 dropped by QJ Forums and informed us about an updated version of Tommydanger-original DevHook Firmware Installer.

In the last version, v0.6d, Sleepy566 mentioned that the application could install 3.11. However, the coder noticed that there were a couple of few missing code lines that allow full support for 3.11. Sleepy fixed that, and this program should run on all firmwares now.

Remember that you need to have the latest version DevHook installed to run this installer. Once you have that, extract everything in the ZIP file to the root of your memory stick. The changelog for Devhook Firmware Installer v0.6f is as follows:

Version 0.6f: Added full support for 3.11 (Didn't realize it was missing) and Minor bug fixes
Version 0.6e: Bug fixes, sometimes "couldn't generate OUT file"

» what?

the coder noticed that there were a couple of few missing code lines that allow full support for 3.11. Sleepy fixed that, and this program should run on all firmwares now. (what all fw?)

by Sleepy - 2007-03-03 10:06
» ...

It runs on whatever firmware you have, and it will place all firmwares in the correct Devhook folders.

It's in my readme, they just worded it a little bit... oddly.

And also, my name's Sleepy, not Sleepy566. Not that it matters too much, but whatever.

» No

No, not really.

I don't like fraud, and if it was fraud wouldn't it be typed in n00b?

Think before you type. Or talk.

» This

Allows you to emulate firmware. So for example, your PSP could still have 1.50, but you could run 3.11 in case you needed it to play a game or whatever, without having to upgrade your PSP.

And can someone please clarify? This works on any firmware. I'm currently running 3.03 OE-C. Can I still use it? I'd check myself, but I'm feeling lazy~

by Sleepy - 2007-03-03 13:10
» ...

Thank you MickMog, and to ..:

This program comes with the latest Devhook, and it does work on 3.03 OE-C. That way you can emulate 3.11 if you need to. It is of course most useful on 1.50, but it does have its uses on the other firmwares too.

by avatar76 - 2007-03-03 14:00
» I'm getting an understanding here now I think

This will only work on Sony Official Firmwares up to version 1.5??? If you've gone beyond that you're screwed unless you can downgrade your firmware back to 1.5??

I think you need to be a little bit more clear sleepy when you talk about any firmware version.

by BrendanL - 2007-03-03 14:55
» Well, you can always use Devhook for 2.71

2.71 users can emulate from 1.5-3.11. I know you might be saying that Devhook 0.51 BETA can only emulate up to 3.02 well, you're wrong. It can emulate up to 3.11. You just have to replace the 05 files and the 05BETA files from Devhook 0.52 with your files. Just the files not the folders. Then just put your 3.11 firmware dump and press Start Devhook and voila, 3.11 emulation. So only 1.5 (including custom firmware) and 2.71 firmware users can use Devhook.

» Umm...

Do i need PBP unpacker for this (it doesnt work on my pc) or can i generate the files straight from the eboot.pbp????

by Sleepy - 2007-03-04 02:33
» You're fine

You only need the Eboot.pbp in the root of your memory stick, you don't need to extract anything.

by jake - 2007-03-04 02:49
» 3.11

it just means that it can not run all firmwares possible, up to 3.11.

Sleepy noticed that there were some missing code lines in the previous version that would not allow it to run 3.11, and he fixed it in this version.

by md2 - 2007-03-04 05:53
» correction

the news item states: "Remember that you need to have the latest version DevHook installed to run this installer. Once you have that, extract everything in the ZIP file to the root of your memory stick."

this is not correct. the latest devhook is included in this zip package download; the only thing you need to download seperately is the 311 eboot.

it works great - thanks alot, sleepy.

by Sleepy - 2007-03-04 07:19
» I know

They kinda mis-described it in a few places.

I packed in the latest Devhook, and I made sure it was fully functioning.

I hope other people like it as well!

by Nakazato - 2007-03-04 08:08
» Dumb comment just kinda lazy.

Probably a stupid comment but if my friend is running 3.10 FW can he emulate 1.50?

by Sleepy - 2007-03-04 08:36
» Yeah

He sure can, but not using the version of Devhook included. He would need to use an earlier version, though I'm not sure which one supports 1.50. Take a look around in QJ's download section, you'll find it.

by lavasofa - 2007-03-04 11:43
» ummm

id rather just use my OE

by Torakaru - 2007-03-05 20:03
» Any feedback?

So, do you mean that with his homebrew, I need oonly to decompress the ZIP file, copy the FW 3.11 eboot, execute it, and the FW will be installed and ready for the included Devhook 0.52.0100?

Is it write anything in the internal flash memory?

Is it dangerous?

Has anyone with FW 1.5 test it?

Thanks!!!

» FIRMWARE 3.11

whats that mean can you play roms on it now with the highest firmware 3.11 or no?

by Sleepy - 2007-03-07 11:01
» It's fine

You are correct, and no it does not touch anything dangerous, which is why it's so popular.

I installed this one and it went fine, only I'm unable to save when coming out of sleep mode, on any game, i have to turn off the psp and and turn it on again so that the save function will work, and looks like I'm not the only one: http://forums.qj.net/f-psp-homebrew-and-hacks-help-21/t-upgraded-devhook52firmware-311-100833.html

by NEWer - 2007-03-23 14:34
» re

if you are a 1.5, and EMULATE to a 3.11, you are still a 1.5.....there's no change in the physical firmware.
