You guys remember Project4, Auraomega's homebrew replacement for the PlayStation Portable's XMB? Well, there's no new version yet, but Auraomega has informed us that DrBaronVonEvilSatan has come up with a way to launch the PlayStation Portable's own XMB from within Project4.

For this to work, you'll need to have iRshell and a full dump of firmware 1.50 including flash1 in ms0:/dh/150/flash0 and ms0:/dh/150/flash1. The version of iRshell doesn't matter according to DrBaronVonEvilSatan, but just for reference, this was apparently done using version 3.7. Here are DrBaronVonEvilSatan's instructions:

Launch iRshell in either kernel version and look for the "Launch XMB icon (next to bottom row, third from left) and press x. You can now switch between XMB and iRshell by holding L and pressing select. Exiting to XMB from iRshell returns you to Project4. Now stop uninstalling it and you won't have any more problems. ^,^

DO NOT run the pspbtncnf patcher that comes with iRshell. If you have you'll need to reinstall your firmware and the iRshell folder to get this to work. Not running the patch will cost you the use of a (very) few psx games but it's worth it.

Auraomega is also looking into ways to allow Project4 to work on flash. If you have any questions about this or about Project4 in general, click on the source link below.
