HomebrewStore LivePatch 6221435 released |
Listed in: Homebrew Applications Tags: afrothunder, homebrewstore
Homebrew developer afrothunder has announced that a new LivePatch for the HomebrewStore app is now available. LivePatch 6221435 "reduces the loading time for viewing category pages that contain items you have already seen listed significantly."

Here's more from the dev:
Try browsing forward a few pages in a category, and then go back to the beginning. You will notice that going back, and even forward again through all of the pages you have already seen is significantly faster than the first load.
A new HomebrewStore update, currently scheduled to be 2.60, will feature more loading time reductions like this in many more places. These loading time reductions will not impact important qualities of HomebrewStore, such as being able to see new content without restarting the store.
LivePatch 6221435 will be downloaded automatically when you use your PSP to connect to the HomebrewStore. If you still haven't downloaded this homebrew app, you can find the latest version released here.

Now, interface aside, this is only the beginning. If you can make deals with dcemu.co.uk and qj.net and other homebrew sites, you can potentially make the archives for them available through this app with some programming knowhow. If successful, you can list all apps from the websites you made deals with, and I suppose that for the next few versions you can invite people to flag which items are the ones that are up to date which then allows weeding out earlier versions of homebrew games and apps. I hope that idea works and is implemented in future releases, since it will turn this app into a centralized application for all homebrew needs.
That being said, you should also offer an option to display apps in a list without the description of the category taking up so much screen space and with as many apps listed on the screen at once as possible. This would make scrolling through all the listed apps far less time consuming.
