Hold+ v2.2 - battery saver plug-in for the PSP |
Ó
Running out of juice on your Sony PlayStation Portable? Well, you should probably take a look at Homebrew Developer Torch's Hold+ v2.2. For those who missed the previous release, it is a plug-in which should help conserve the battery life of the handheld. According to the change log of the plug-in, users should now be able to run the PSP while the display is turned off. Quite useful for those who use their PSPs to listen to MP3s while on the go. Here's the complete change log and usage instructions as taken from the plug-in's release thread:
Changelog v2.2
----------------------------------
Added feature to allow operation of the PSP with display turned off.
Usage:
Turn on the Hold switch to automatically disable the display and underclock the CPU. Turn off the Hold switch to return the CPU to normal speed and enable the display.
If you hold the UP d-pad button when turning off the hold switch, the display will remain switched off and the CPU will remain underclocked, but you can operate the PSP. This is useful if you just need to adjust the volume, fast forward/rewind, or to skip to the next song, without unnecessarily turning on the display. To return to normal, just press the Screen button.
Like all plug-ins, remember to go over the documentation (readme.txt file) included with the program to avoid any problems with the installation and use of the program.

cant you just hold the brightness button for a minute to turn the screen off? what a piece of programming genius
EPIC FAIL
--repost becasue I read more about it on the forums-
QJ did not post the full specs of what this do.
This can lower your CPU like 61mhz and other stuff, not just a screen thing
For people they wont want to lost minimal power of your batery this is usefull
The plugin always allowed you to play music with the screen and backlight off at a reduced clock speed.
The following is what changed since the last release according to Torch:
"If you hold the UP d-pad button when turning off the hold switch, the display will remain switched off and the CPU will remain underclocked, but you can operate the PSP. This is useful if you just need to adjust the volume, fast forward/rewind, or to skip to the next song, without unnecessarily turning on the display. To return to normal, just press the Screen button. "
this plugin is very useful..for 1, the whole underclock idea is great for mp3's..the unhold anti-suspend thing is great cuz im tired of careeeffulllyyy coming out of hold to avoid triggering suspend mode..and the latest edit is awesome too..since normally pressing ANY key would enable the screen under normal circumstances. I highly recommend this plugin for the battery concious mp3 listener..u can almost tripple ur battery pwr with this..its well maintained..simple and does its job beyond wat i cud've thought of..(i wanted sumthing like this for a while now..but my coding skills are lame..lol..i've been using this since 1.0..and it already surpassed my needs..) Thanks to the creator. Propz!

Are you talking about when still in hold mode?
I'm using version 2.1 and all the keys are properly locked when in hold.
Also, I agree with you; I highly recommend this useful simple plugin.
Thanks to whoever modified the article.. much better
i mean when u hold up and exit hold mode in 2.2..the screen remains off, but the buttons are all usable..so u can skip track/edit volume etc, without the screen powering on and using battery for such simple functions..great addition to an already excellent app. U should upgrade to this now..lol
wow dont bash it unless you actually understand it...
"Switches off the actual LCD screen. (This is important because the backlight and actual screen are two different things. You can have an image being displayed on the screen while the backlight is switched off, such that you can see the image if you use a flashlight. You can also have the screen switched off while the backlight still illuminates the powered off screen.)" Qoute from Version 1.0
if only they made similar plug ins for phones
how the heck do you install this?? i dont even have an seplugins folder! and it says its for 4.01. think they could agree on plugin locations or something. . .
The location of that folder hasn't changed for as long as DAX has made custom firmwares. You simply have to create the folder in the root of your stick.
Or better yet install it in flash0. Thats what I've done. Just be careful you don't brick.
