HideMov BETA II

Ó

Oh, the stuff we love to hide from you with HideMov BETA II. - Image 1pj1115 recently dropped the latest HideMov build on our laps. HideMov BETA II improves on the first one by adding even more file stealth options for other kinds of files, wider firmware support (hopefully), and an easy install option. Changelog comes before the Download link.

The program is STILL a BETA (hence, the name), there may be some bugs to run into. Oh, and as always, Read the Readme for the instructions, warnings, etc. As to why one would like to stealth some of their files from the XMB... but hey, everyone has their reasons, and not all of them have to do with Memory Sticks and "off-game recreation." Privacy is, after all, a treasured right.

But then, why are you suddenly sweating buckets?
  • Enhanced video hiding (adds VIDEO folder support)
  • Hides Games (GAME, GAME150, GAME303, GAME310)
  • Hides Music
  • Hides Photo
  • Hides Savedata
  • Hides Browser stuff (ie, bookmarks)
  • SHOULD be more compatible with older firmwares (I increased the time that the PRX allowed for other threads to work)
  • Added auto-installer for Windows
Download: [HideMov BETA II]

# Feature req: "User Profile" SelectionGuest 2007-02-26 15:22
I like the idea of this plugin, but what I would really like to see is some kind of "User Profile", so I could have 2 or 3 users and have shared folders/files and private folders/files (defined in a config file or with a GUI).... the ideal for me would be select this from recovery menu.

The benefit would be that you can share the PSP and each user would have their own set of private files.

It still doesn't seem to work for me, I'm on 3.03 OE-C because you can't change the XMB icons in 3.10 OE-A'.

If you could get it to work with 3.03 OE-C, that'd be great.

# use psp filerGuest 2007-02-26 16:02
use a psp file management tool and simply rename the directory, that'll prevent videos/pictures/music, etc... from appearing in the menu. that's all this prx does.

This works alright... You hafta disable it to watch the files. But let say if you were trying to open a movie file when its locked it will say no file/video. When you disable the protection, you will have to click on another thing i.e. Music. then go back and click video and it will show it...like the readme says it caches it onto the psp memory.

If someone is having a problem getting pass the black screen... try disabling all the plugins. A few pluygins i tried wont work with this. for example the quick power, it uses the Home + L/Home+R to change the britness settings. and it just wont boot togeher

# ...Guest 2007-02-26 18:47
create a seplugins folder in the root of the memory stick (where the folder PSP is.)

then inside that create a .txt called vsh in the seplugin folder. And in that vsh.txt type in

ms0:/seplugins/module.prx

and save it, then put in that module.prx program in that seplugins folder and hold R when booting up and enable that plugin.

it didnt hide pictures here. just savegames and /games folder.

and it dont work when i boot all my plugins too.

and also i have 2 rename one folder myself lol

i can hide savegames OR games not booth together and one is leaved with the bad name so it didnt load after deleting the .prx

good idea but didnt work proper here :/

Did you had

ms0:/seplugins/module.prx

in the vsh.txt and did u enable the plugin, by holding R while turning it on to go to recovery mode. then click plugins then click on the button(capture.prx [VSH]) there to enable it?

Reply

# qweqGuest 2007-02-26 20:55
yea...it was a good idea...only real problem was psp remembers that there is no files in video and when u enable it it will still remember so u will have to click on a different icon first which makes it really innoying. and also since this is still beta its really really buggy.

# Hm...Guest 2007-02-26 23:11
Oh well I still hope it will be improved but keep up the good work!... I hope it's compatible with 3.03 OE-C soon... A really good piece of plug-in to hide my stuff if I send my PSP in for servicing again and when the fellows check out my PSP before saying the price of repair... Aside from that hiding my videos would be great...

Wait does it work on 3.03 OE-C yet? And doe the MP3 Plug-in work on 3.10 OE if it does I'll just update...

If you can do better, come up with the plugin yourself asswipe.

As George said, it's a BETA. And yes, it does rename the folders, that's what makes the PSP NOT BE ABLE TO FIND THEM. Are you stupid?

Second of all, I never said it would work with older firmwares, I only stated that I had made efforts to increase compatibility with older firmwares. This is buggy, yes.

And I'm getting help from another Dev about writing to the memory.

No working for you? Try a different way.

Don't appreciate my work? F*ck off.

# Forgot a few folders to hideGuest 2007-02-27 07:57
The folders that ARE hidden are the:

ms0:/PSP/PHOTO

ms0:/PSP/MUSIC

ms0:/PSP/GAME (and the 150, 303, 310 whatever)

ms0:/PSP/SYSTEM/BROWSER

ms0:/MP_ROOT

But there are also others that arent renamed:

ms0:/VIDEO

ms0:/PICTURE

ms0:/MUSIC

The SAVEDATA is switched the wrong way around. When hiding, the module renames it the correct way. And when unlocking, it gets renames the wrong way.

# keep up the work...Guest 2007-02-27 09:15
yeah like i said earlier its a good idea expect the massive bugs. like not booting anymore, leaving the the changed + a couple left folders 2 hide.

u can also use pspfiler and rename rfolders urself.

works same as the plugin. not so fast with a button combo but its done in 15 seconds so no deal i think.

and u need no plugin.prx just rename ur pictures to Xpictures as example.

and i like that it dont write 2 flash anyway.

im on 3.03 btw!

keep up the work its a nice feature when it works proper!

Your savedata is not deleted, as previously mentioned by ybakker:

" The folders that ARE hidden are the:

ms0:/PSP/PHOTO

ms0:/PSP/MUSIC

ms0:/PSP/GAME (and the 150, 303, 310 whatever)

ms0:/PSP/SYSTEM/BROWSER

But there are also others that arent renamed:

ms0:/VIDEO

ms0:/PICTURE

ms0:/MUSIC

The SAVEDATA is switched the wrong way around. When hiding, the module renames it the correct way. And when unlocking, it gets renames the wrong way."

It's still in your Memory Stick. Just rename it correctly to see it again.

Noticed alot of you are having problems with the savedata folder renaming the wrong way round.

I just fixed the module to change the name correctly just copy it to PSP\SYSTEM

Ok, so I'm running 3.03 OE-C and I'm not sure if it's because of that or what, but when you use Home + R Trigger to hide everything, it hides it all except the Saved Data. Then when you do Home + L Trigger to show everything, it does the opposite. It shows everything and hides Saved Data.

# I come with a solution!Guest 2007-03-25 12:34
Ok, so I noticed along with a bunch of people that Saved Data is screwed up, so I looked into fixing it. I found that if you just open the module.prx with a text editor, you'll find a chunk of code involving the Saved Data that you can edit.

Check out the pic for further info:

I still don't know why this PRX Mod is making my PSP lock up when I try to run any homebrew... I'm on 3.03 OE-C if it matters.

# Fixed my other problem...Guest 2007-03-25 13:02
Not sure why, but when I had all my homebrew in the GAME folder, non of it would run while this was running so I moved it all to the GAME150 folder and it works just peachy now! :) This officially kicks ass now because I fixed the Saved Data bug and that wierd homebrew bug. Congrats to pj1115 for coding such an awesome mod! Can't wait for v3.
