Well, look what we have here. Slasher from Team Duck has dropped by our forums to share with us his Generic Flasher that basically flashes whatever your file you may want to... er... flash. So, here's how it works.

According to Slasher, this application is for just about any custom firmware version, including 3.03 OE-C and 3.10 OE-A. What's here in version 1 are the following:
  • Shows all files located in their corresponding folders
  • Quick installation method
  • Various error checks to ensure a safe flash
  • Displays the last installed file
He also planned to add preview support, but he says he kept messing it up. But don't worry, that doesn't mean he won't try to have it on board anymore. Instead, he'll add it later when he's got more time.

Now, as for the installation procedure, you might as well check out the Read me ('cuz it really is important like that) included in the file. Oh, and he gives out this warning: I take no responsibility if you happen to brick your PSP. Use at your own risk. Only Flash files if you know what you're doing.

So there. Hopefully, you do know what you're doing, 'cuz really, there'll be no one else to blame if you do brick your PSP. Clear? That's crystal.

I used this dam thing and it semi bricked my psp. I flashed the original303oec.rco and when i reboot it wont go any further than the xmb wave. i can easily recover but is it cause im on firmware 3.10 oe'? I used a 303 rco file.

# Nice, but...Guest 2007-02-17 16:17
It's sort of useless. We have flash access through the USB in OE, and everyone who can run homebrew can downgrade. Presumably the only people who aren't on OE, are those that dont know about homebrew and elitists with the official firmwares.

Still, good to see people are still making stuff.

# it didnt semi-brick your pspGuest 2007-02-17 16:27
if thats a custom wave it just means the size is too big i did it a lot on accident when i forgot to hex edit the tga but it probably is because you flashed a 3.03 rco for a 3.10 FW

I must agree that this is kinda useless. The custom firmware users have easy access to the usb flash0 and flash1. Its quick, easy, and very useful to have access to the usb for these files if you are at home. But what if ur on the road or at school and want to show off? This program is kinda ok but trust me when i say that Flash Agent is much better for flashing files on the go. Very useful.

# u think?MickMog 2007-02-18 06:01
it takes a lot longer + more button pushin to flash it via recovery than using ftp to drop files on an go into generic flasher to flash + reboot.

if your tied to pc by usb cable then thats ok but if your a serious messer like meself + dont want to be connected by cables ftp + generic flasher are easy to use
