GameShareLoader for FW2.80 v0.01 is out

0okm has come out with an interesting little app for members of the homebrew community">homebrew community who want to play game demos without a whole lot of the problems associated with UMDs. The new app, known as GemeShareLoader for FW2.80 v0.01, lets you play those gameshare games on 2.80 that you ripped from your legally-owned UMDs without using the UMD itself. (Emphasis on the phrase, "legally-owned UMDs"... -ed.)

As he mentions in his readme, the "for FW 2.80" on his app name is a misnomer. This actually works on 2.5-2.71 as well, but since many of the demos out now use 2.80, you can see why he decided to put it as part of his title. Our testing also shows that it works well on 2.71 SE-B'' so you don't have to worry making much of a mess of your PSP.

Now, this isn't an app with any bricking qualities, so lets talk about something else that's important: lawyers. If you'd like to avoid getting bricked (being placed in jail with very buff guys), then it would be a really good idea if you use only the gameboots from the UMDs you already have. Of course, even that's a slippery slope, but to each his own. Just remember to check the readme for additional information, and enjoy using this nifty new application.

Why don't the bloggers here actually write accurately about the subject matter for once and stop trying to make their writing creative at the expense of confusing the readers about what the damn thing actually is.

Why mention "bricking" whatsoever if it has no involvement with the flash. The article is misleading and mainly filled with annoying jargon that is irrelevant altogether. Stick to the point and stop filling the post with spam just to make it look lengthy. You obviously just confuse most of the readers based on the resulting comments.

Some games allow you to "gameshare" to other PSP's, sending a demo to another PSP instead of putting the UMD in that PSP. This is done by sending all the data in a single file, and what this new tool apparently does is allow you to take that file off the UMD yourself, repackage it and set it up so it will run from the Game menu instead.

i assume u all know of "Game Sharing" where u can "share" a game or part of a game for a bit of multiplayer gaming??? if uve tried it u would know they dont get saved to ur psp; they are there until u turn it off.

however, this app (havnt tried it yet) will theoritcally copy the part of the umd with the gameshare on it to your memory stick, then you can play it anytime you want =D

dw dude we were all nubs at sometime....

it saves the gamesahre part to your memroy stick and allows yo uto launch it from the m/s. it will have the same functionality as the gamesahre had on the UMD.

It's a gameSHARE, its whole purpose is to be distributed. Anyway, laws are very strange, often illogical things, so you probably shouldn't give out the files.

BTW: Wipeout Pure and LocoRoco have gameshares too. I'm not sure about burnout because I heard (although I don't own the game) that burnout's gameshare isn't copied all at once; Once the gameshare is loaded, it connects to the PSP that sent you the gameshare and downloads more content when you actually start playing the game. Or so I heard.

From what I can gather there are UMDs with demos on them and this allows you to rip them off and play them without the Disc.

But I do agree there was way too much useless incoherent dribble in the article. The whole last paragraph could have been left out as it made no sense.

it looks like QJ.net took the url i had on here off... i guess they dont want it. for anyone that dosn't know how to get the gameshare files from a UMD, you can do it with file assistant, thats what i used to get the lemmings one from my UMD. hope this helps people.

ok. first, the version of file assistant that i am using, is v0.06 TIFF. once you have it running, insert the UMD that you want to take files from, EG. lemmings. use the left shoulder button to highlight "Disk" at the bottom of the screen, then use the right shoulder button to select it. use the direction pad to go down until UMD is selected, then press O. this should bring up the contents of the UMD. use O to open folders. (a folder, will have DIR instead of a filesize). for lemmings, the gameshare files are in "PSP_Game" then "USRDIR" then "GameShare". differnt games may have the files in differnt places. go down to the file you want, then use the left shoulder button to select "Copy" at the bottom. press the right shoulder button, and it should copy the file to the memory stick, it may take a minute or so, just wait untill the memory stick light stops flashing. now, the file should be on the memory stick, you can now plug it into a computer, rename it to EBOOT.PBP, and put it into the folder for the loader. I hope this helps people. ^_^ oh, and by the way, not all games have gameshares.

sometimes, thie tiff exploit is a bit unstable, maby you should try it a few times, or try re-downloading it if there was an error while downloading.

you just download a hex editor, i use hexplorer and open up the two files, go find and type in what the folder name was the go replace and put what the folder is now, i just got wipeout pure from firedup to work and changed the folder name

have you got the right file, mine was called share.bin before i renamed it to eboot.pbp. mine doesnt say anything like that, it just starts the demo. Does it say that after blue writing comes up saying something about gameshareeloade r cos i think you just might have the wrong file

Brendo, what folder do I put the demo in and how do I make a % out of the eboot cause pspbrew just puts the regular eboot in my psp drive doesnt make a % fiolder out of it for osme reason.

1 Extracted Gameshare loader zip

2 Copy Uxxx00000 in Pictures (here in europe we have picture folder not photos)

3 Put Eboot.PBP in Uxxx00000

4 Reboot psp

5 Went to picture folder with psp and X or START on Uxxx00000 icon.

Nothing happens and psp freeze
