FileAssistant v1.2 Released

71M has updated his great FileAssistant homebrew application to version 1.2. FileAssistant is an all purpose file browsing application, that allows you to rename, delete, and view details of files on your PSP, or files from a UMD. It also allows you to play MP3's, play SWF's (Flash files), view .txt's, run UMD's, homebrew applications, play AVI video files and much much more.

This version is an 'experimental' build that should work on 2.0+ using the eLoader. This is a great achievement since FileAssistant has a built-in SWF viewer! This means none of you 2.0+ users have to upgrade to 2.7 to view SWF's saved on your memory stick.

This version hasn't yet been tested on 2.0+, but should work! If this application fails to start, please either post a comment or leave feedback for 71M in his bugs forum. As far as I can tell, this version doesn't add any new features, so 1.5 users have no need to download this version.

Thanks for the heads up Calum!

Updates:
  • Has been confirmed to work with 0.97 eLoader on both 2.0 & 2.6
  • It appears that the ability to launch homebrew applications form this was taken out in order for it to work on 2.0+ - Sorry guys!

by Anonymous Coward - 2006-04-25 09:59
» You rule.

With the built in .swf player I don't have to worry about upgrading to FM 2.70.

Try navigating to the EBOOT.pbp of the game you wish to load, and press X.

» 2.0 w/Eloader w/EMenu

Credits screen does cause a lockup, but other than that seems to work fine. Nice prog.

by Anonymous Coward - 2006-04-25 10:11
» Works on 2.5 too

Couldn't get it to play an avi file but it looks very good anyway!

by 71M - 2006-04-25 10:32
» Flash! Ah ah!

I'm the first to admit that the Flash player isn't the best, loading times are long, compatibility is also somewhat questionable, but at least you get to play your homebrew still and enjoy some SWF files!

Check out http://www.easy-monkey.co.uk/SWF/ for a couple of example files that are tested and working, harecut.swf being the most compatible.

Enjoy the update...

Cheers,

71M

» A DAY LATE

MAN A DAY LATE FOR ALL THE NEW 2.7 USERS WHO COULD OF STAYED AT 2.6 AND STILL HAVE FLASH!

by yamabigdog - 2006-04-25 12:46
» MP3's in any folder!!!!!!!!!

THAT'S RIGHT!!! THE ONLY HOMEBREW CURRENTLY KNOWN THAT PLAYS MP3'S FROM ANY LOCATION ON MEMORY STICK!!! MOST OTHER PLAYERS REQUIRE IT TO BE IN "MUSIC" FOLDER, WHICH WAS POINTLESS JUST USE BUILT IN ONE. GREAT JOB, AWESOME PROG!!

by Anonymous Coward - 2006-04-25 12:49
» looks great but less funtion

the only disapointment is its read only in bios

by RaiderX - 2006-04-25 12:58
» eeh

love the program, but this update is only for 2.0+

by Anonymous Coward - 2006-04-25 13:52
» Actionhenk

i was using fileassistant 0.04 and i loved the way you can make directory and move files to another directory or copy files to another directory

i cant do that with this version so i stick with the 0.04

is there a chance the move and copy commands will come in this version?

i like move gta saved games to another map so the psp start up at eloader. and when i wanted to play gta i put the gta saved game back into the saved game directory

besides that i really love this applications and beside zx81,s ftp program is this (0.04) the only thing i use for file administration

keep up the good work

Im using it on my 1.5, and the flash doesnt work at all. It loads to about 80% and freezes. Sometimes it shuts off. Hopefully theyll find a way to improve the falsh player in future releases
