FileAssistant 3.xx Kernel: now running on PSP Slim - Image 1A lot of you have probably been waiting some time for this release: courtesy of JaX3RiR, the FileAssistant homebrew program now works for the PSP Slim.

For those unfamiliar with FileAssistant, it's basically an all-purpose file manager: it does the basics, such as renaming and viewing file details. It also allows you to play MP3's, play AVI files, and a lot more.

FileAssistant 3.XX Kernel still has a few bugs. In the forums, JaX3RiR mentioned that the PSP freezes when trying to view the program's credits. Also, there is currently a problem with exiting the program. Here is part of the readme (with a slight correction from JaX3RiR):

There are some functions that do not work, like when you press the "Home"-button nothing happens. Right now the only way to get out of this application is to restart your PSP or to launch this homebrew from IR Shell, and use Home + Square to quit the application (not tested).

Again, please be aware that the program still has a few bugs, so be careful when using it. Users are advised to go through the readme before installing the application. The readme also contains instructions for installation.

Please note that the readme says you need to press L+Home to exit the program from IR Shell. JaX3RiR in the comments section has corrected this saying that the button combo is actually Home + Square.

Oops.

The button combo you need to use to exit it when launching the app from IR Shell is actually Home+Square. This was my fault, I should've checked what I wrote in the readme... :P

thanks

this was the reason i didnt want to get a slim, no fileassistant. thank you for this wonderful release. btw, how do you play avi files?

X button?

On the original version, you just select the AVI file and it plays automatically (same with MP3s and images). I assume the same goes for the modified version for the slim.
