Downgrade from 3.71M33 to 1.50 without using Pandora

Sony PSP - Image 1Tommy1994! has posted about a 3.71M33 to 1.50 downgrade procedure on the QJ.NET PSP Development Forums. The cool thing about this downgrade procedure is that it works even without using the Pandora Battery.

This downgrade procedure by Samhain reportedly works for PlayStation Portable units that have TA-079 and TA-082 motherboards. You'll need an original firmware 1.50 file to make it run. This particular file isn't included in the download below so you'll have to go find one for yourself.

Please keep in mind that this has only been tested on TA-079 and TA-082 PSPs so far. For instructions on how to use it, please click on the Visit link below as the download doesn't have a readme file.

wow

thats nice~ but why dont make one for PSP slim ? >.<
by prime - 2007-09-27 11:47:48
simple

Because the Slim's hardware was purposely altered so that it is incompatible with 1.5. The Slim can NEVER be downgraded to 1.5.
by mohaas05 - 2007-09-27 11:48:39
...

because no one has cracked the slim's mobo (TA-085) to allow it to run 1.5.

ok...

OK...

.

I'd actually buy a slim if it could run 1.5fw or kernel mode homebrew. Until then, IT'S CRAP!

I agree with mister common sense

Yes, I was hoping (and assuming) that with custom firmware, we would be able to run 1.50 kernel. We may need to rely on some kind of Devhook kind of way to do this. I'm not saying emulating 1.5, i'm saying emulating a modified custom firmware that is basically 3.71 m33 for fat psp with 1.50 kernel, but modified in a way that it uses slim prx's. It would be complex, but that may be the only way we can do it for now. And 3.71 m33 for fat sucks without 1.5 kernel. I am lucky though, Dual booting 3.03 OE-C and 3.71 OE with UP. It seems that dual booting from flash is the only real use of UP anymore, and Devolution is completely useless unless you want to downgrade without a pandora...

about 1.5

I'm very positive that this does not work with the slim so please please please DO NOT use this on your slim... I get tired of hearing these noobs whine about their bricked psps. Personally the slim running only 3.xx CFW with no 1.50 kernel, i don't care too much, because as long as you have some kind of CFW running, the option for homebrew is still there. Also meaning down the road, the option for 1.5 homebrew will arise. Dont hesitate to get a slim, get one ASAP! while pandora still exists as a viable homebrew enabler. I don't want to hear from anybody "I should have gotten one when 3.60 M33 and pandora still worked!!" just because you couldn't put up with no 1.5 homebrew for a few months.
by EXTER - 2007-09-27 12:48:12
useless

With CFW now loading form a custom IPL, I say that 1.50 is not needed anymore. All that's needed is to port the homebrew to the 3.71 kernel.

OMG THANK YOU

thank thank thank you.....i was playing dumb and upgraded to 3.71m33 without realizind it didnt use 1.5 kernal. couldnt play any of my homebrew...THIS WORKS GREAT!! i have a PSP fatty looking at it right now and it just got done and is in 1.5. THANK YOU AGAIN!!

.

I heard not all the PSP system resources are available in user mode (like the media engine.) That's why the more taxing emulators like Daedalus will never work with the PSP slim, or fat PSPs using 3.71. That's why I haven't upgraded past 3.52 CFW too (plus popsloader works great for PS1 games.)

this is pretty old.

i have been back on 3.52 m33-4 for about 3 days now. its a great. reminded me of when i downgraded from 3.03 using gta. i would recommend not bothering with 3.71 m33 for a while. -Cant edit xmb -None of my psx work -like 2 homebrew -not really needed

Recovery?

Has there been any release of a 3.71 M33 Recovery yet? I've been bricked for a week and I want to fix it asap! So someone help! NOTE: I can run recovery menu but it freezes at the sony logo when psp starts up.

Hmm...

Does it keep reseting at the Sony logo? Because mine does that. I just had to remove the memory stick and put it back in after the CFW boots up and it works again.

by MitchenX - 2007-09-27 20:33:54
YES!!!

thank you sooooo much!!! I was really considering making a pandora battery to get back. I thought I could live without my homebrew, mainly gpsp with ff6!!! But alas, I was wrong... Until 3.71 m33 is COMPLETELY finished, I'm gonna stay at 3.52. thanks again!!!
by MitchenX - 2007-09-27 20:38:28
yes

that happened to me too. 3.52 froze at startup, cuz my mem stick was still in 3.71 format. i cant believe i ran updates without formatting!! that was not a good idea, but thankfully it still worked. i dont recommend anyone does it though.
by tobyo1 - 2007-09-27 21:40:21
3.52

THX for the downgrader. It worked for me and I'm now at 3.52m33-4, I will upgrade again when 3.71m33 is completely finished or they release 3.71VE (with 1.5 kernal)
