Disinter v3.80: Pandora memstick creation tool - Image 1Developer DJB is sending out word that Disinter v3.80 is now available for use among the PSP's homebrew community. This PC-based .NET v2 app is used to copy applications and files to a PSP for making a Pandora MemStick for both the PSP Phat and Slim.

This particular release is DJB's version of an app originally released by developer Klutsh. Here are Disinter v3.80's current features:
  • Either a 1.50 or 3.80 Firmware "Pandora" MemStick can be created.
  • Option to install the 1.50 Kernel extentions for M33-3.80 on a "Phat" PSP.
  • Loading of eBoots directly or from rar files.
  • Full onscreen instructions.
  • All features can be used on Vista.
  • MD5 verification of eBoot's.
As for this release's latest changelog:
  • Updated to use Despertar del Cementerio v4. (Installs M33-3.80-5)
  • Updated to use Hellcats Pandora Installer for 3.xx, V3a
  • Updated to use M33-3.80 1.50 Addon
We warn would-be users that this application is intended for use with the PSP Phat's battery only. Using this on the Slim's battery will cause it to brick. You'll also need to be updated to  Microsoft .NET Framework V2, and must have custom firmware 3.xx running on your PSP. Full details regarding this application are available in the file bundle's readme.

Nice work DAX, I'm happy you got over the whole retirement thing ;)

Anyways, I have a question for you guys.

This app here sounds pretty cool, but I noticed it uses "Hellcats Pandora Installer for 3.xx, V3a".

Also, all of you who own a SLIM will have noticed "Using this on the Slim's battery will cause it to brick."

And that's where the question popped up.

See, I HAVE a SLIM... It has a Pandorized SLIM battery too.

And I made the Pandora battery with my SLIM PSP using "Hellcats Pandora Installer for 3.xx, V3a".

Obviously it didn't brick MY psp, otherwise I wouldn't be asking this question ofcourse.

My question is: How come this new app will brick the PSP if you try to pandorize your battery when I used Hellcats app succesfully to pandorize mine? I mean, the changelog actually says it uses Hellcats app too.

Soo ?

If you don't know what you're talking about, don't talk. You're spreading misinformation.

Would-be user... ?

I have had this PSP for almost 2 years now...

I have done all my CFW upgrades myself. I've been doing them since 3.03 OE, and may I note, I have NEVER bricked a PSP.

I don't get why people have to start throwing insults whenever they see the chance... :S

I might have been lucky... although I doubt that...

Cause I used the Hellcats Pandora Installer for 3.xx, V3a to pandorize my batt, unpandorize it, and pandorize it yet AGAIN !!!

Works everytime...

I'm not telling people to use this on their SLIM batts... I'm not even gonna use this app... !!!!

I'm JUST asking WHY Hellcats Pandora Installer for 3.xx, V3a didn't brick my SLIM psp, when this one does..

If you want me to put my serial numbers in here or whatever to prove I have a SLIM... than I'll post it.

Who the hell would I do any good by making this up. So,... anyone...

And that IS the link... weird...

I've copied a piece of text from the maxconsole forum...

"Truth is it's REAL. Using Hellcat Pandora maker kernel 3.xx for slim, I have made a video (uncut + unedited - truly original) to show everyone + anyone that still doubtful about it...the proof of making pandora battery from slim battery using slim psp.

The instruction is same as making fat pandora battery. Hellcat pandora maker for kernel 3.xx is compatible with slim battery."

I updates to 3.90 m33 last night. Then used this to make a pandora MS that works on a slim(because for some reason the older one didnt make the pandora menu come up. Went back to 3.80 m33 because 3.90 has no custom themes. Only skype that cost money.

This application is not released by DAX Therefore it's not officially supported by him.

The reason why you're PSP battery didn't brick, is because you have the earlier version. Mine did the same, worked great, then my friend bought a slim and tried pandora'ing his...alas to no avail.

I've noticed that about the newer PSP slim batterys. It's werid. I have a PSP Slim 2001 and my friend has the same.

Finally, the process is streamlined to the point that an argument could me made that it would be ethical to kill those who could not figure out how to do it.

To be frank OFFICIAL firmware cannot run unsigned code. Like Disinter. Or Daedalus. Now if you have a friend who has a homebrew capable psp then you can use his and make a pandora mem stick and batt to downgrade your psp. and if you dont have a friend then you can try ebay. preferably with desperatar del cementario v4

I dont really need a program like this but kudos to the guy who made it. all i use is the syscon emulator. works for 390 m33 too

Why do people always say this? It confused me to no end when I was going from OFW to CFW. You do not HAVE TO HAVE a psp on CFW to get what you need to go to CFW. All you have to have is TOTALNewbi easyinstaller to make the Magic memory stick and then you can just purchase the Datel Tool Battery or the Datel Tool that converts batteries to Pandora, or if you don't have access to that, you can hardmod your battery.... So, in fact, you CAN convert your PSP to CFW with only the use of a PC.
