If you don't know what it does then you'll just brick your psp...so stay away!!! Also nobody is going to fetch/make .pmf files for you, you'll have to get them yourself like the rest of us... Happy hunting!!!

There's still no kernal access but you can still brick your psp! You can only muck around with flash0, the ipl (associated with downgraders etc) is of flimits as of yet.

rename of xmb icon label is not possible yet. not even for fw 2.71. so far rename of xmb only possible for fw 1.5. i can bet that a downgrader for 2.8 arriving faster than u can edit the xmb menu.

u can only flash 1 gameboot.pmf or 1 font or 1 bmp at a time. simply sais tat u can put 2 gameboot.pmf (for example) in the ms_root

This post is a perfect example of why this site alienates half the people who visit it... To a "n00b", the contents of the posting don't explain what "flashing" is or what it does. And when people try to ask about it in the forums, they get responses like "If you don't know what it does then you'll just brick your psp...", or no response at all. Do your readers a favor and at least *try* to write a short description for people who aren't "1337" in PSP hacking.

2.8 its too risky

I think 2.8 is far too risky for any general 2.8 PSP owners to try and attempt to downgrade. I reckon the brick rate of any attempted downgrades will be incredibly high...like 1 in 50 successful downgrades. Thats just my opinion...unfortunately I now have 3.00, its a con too...no password on entry, no Sony mail, no artpad. The only features really are Music Visuals, and no auto UMD restart. Dont believe anything else..its a conspiracy.
