DH FW INstaller - Image 1Sleepy's released a minor upgrade to Tommydanger's oft-used DevHook Firmware Installer. As he mentions, he's edited the program to increase its compatibility and to support newer firmwares.

Here's the changelog for this new, semi-unofficial update to DevHook Firmware Installer v0.6d:
  • Removed error causing crashes
  • Added full support for firmwares 3.03 - 3.11
  • Tidied up and re-arranged code
  • Bugs found and wiped out
  • Smoothed out the code a bit
  • Made a new ICON0 for the program
  • Added support for firmware 3.02 and everything below
As always, make sure you check the latest readme. There don't seem to be any known issues so far with the application, but you should always check the readme to be sure. With that said, be careful, and enjoy the application.

wow....dh, who uses that thing still??? hahah anyone else on DH? cuase custom firmware is soooo much better

by Dont judge ppl - 2007-02-16 19:35
» dont judge ppl man...

Just because we have GREAT custom firmwares by Dark Alex doesn't mean you shouldn't appreciate what Booster had done for us. Remember the times when devhook was what all the hype was about? When people would say Booster is GOD? EXACTLY, devhook is still a GREAT creation and will be appreciated greatly.

by Dontay0100 - 2007-02-16 19:39
» yeah

I use devhook cause i dont wanna flash my psp, thats why many people still use Devhook, so that we wont have a chance at bricking our psp's.

by hotspeed - 2007-02-16 19:44
» haha my bad

haha sorry i didnt mean to say the question offensively, yes i do hail DAX and all but its just kind of odd that DevHook is still around, and i havent seen one since .50

by hotspeed - 2007-02-16 19:48
» edit*

yes, i did remember the hype of booster, those two made a great team, cept this one isn't by booster....not that i know of i think, i still appreciate them but its like Dh just kinda came outa nowhere ya know, its like someone that pops out after a long time of not seeing them.

by me - 2007-02-16 20:01
» dh

i don't really get it. are people that afraid of bricking their psps? dh was a great resource before cfw's but now cfw's make everything so much easier. no worrying about if that game will work with my version of dh...

i just posted about this in another forum. i don't understand why people don't upgrade to the latest cfw. it's so simple and if you use an installer, and don't turn off the psp, and follow directions, the chances of bricking are almost null.

my 2 cents..

Word!

by Snarg - 2007-02-16 20:19
» .

Chances aren't "almost null" they are "exactly null".

I've never heard of anyone FULLY bricking their PSP while upgrading to the custom firmware.

The first thing installed is the recovery menu, so even if something else fails, you only have a semi-brick, which can be recovered easily.

I laugh at people that are too afraid to upgrade to a custom firmware.

You have more of a chance of bricking while upgrading to an official firmware.

by hotspeed - 2007-02-16 20:22
» thanks for the 2 cents

haha thx, but its just they might things its complicated, but its not. for those of you who think it is, it isnt

1.download 3.03 and 1.50 fw

2. rename name as 303.pbp and 150.pbp

3.paste them into oe flashmaker (correct me if im wrong)

4. connect usb and put OEFLASH MAKER and OEFM% in GAME folder for those who are 1.50 and GAME 150 for those in other CFW.

5. Run the OE FM

6. connect usb and copy DXAR from the OEFM to OE Installer folder

7.paste OEFI and OEFI% to GAME (1.50) and Game150 (for CFW)

8. Run OEFI

BTW OEFI is oe Flash installer and OEFM is OE Flash MAker

the steps are really easy and impossbile to brick unless you turn off your psp or seomthing. idk but its really easy for those who DIDNT read the readme liek you're supposed to. I have nothing against DH to let you guys know. its just CFW elimates the hassle of DH now. UMD-less ISO's and did i mention you get more space on your Memcard cause you're not using devhook.

by MiGs - 2007-02-16 20:36
» DH is back with a vengence

Well, devhook is a good enviroment for testing out custom stuff, gameboots, and all these new wave hacks and everything, messing with the flash0 in an emulated firmware is alot safer then messing with it on the flash chip inside your psp.

by MickMog - 2007-02-16 20:43
» LMAO

...............or harder for those who DO read the readme & come up with a load of abbreviations for instructions like that^

devhook was/is an awesome app for whatever reason, but it needs to keep updated cos we may need emulation again sometime, if custom firmware cant be made to match then an emulator like devhook will be used. besides being cool to run flash tests on

by hahahaha - 2007-02-16 21:01
» hahahaha

u people are stupid to use that old a$$ devhook! when using custom firmware u dont even need a flash program drag and drop all plugins to the flash 0.... and if for some reason something bad should happen (brick) u can recover from it in like 2min... devhook is a thing of the past....out with the old in with the new!!!!

by FunkMasterFlex - 2007-02-16 21:10
» O.o

shiet, i still use boosters work. both devhook and oe-a. the only reason why i still use devhook is because its more compatible with games as oe-a isnt. devhook play every game i own 100% but oe-a 90%. still i love them both and together its even better.

SO LETS HOPE THAT THE NEW VERSION 0.53 WILL BE SUPORTS FROM FIRMWARE 1.50 TO 3.11!

just download devhook .46 that emulates 1.50 to 2.71 and then use devhook .51 or something like that to emulate 2.80 to 3.02

But if you are already on 3.02 why would you need to emulate those older firmwares

If you still have 1.50 PSP... You are really clueless. OE PSP are better and you don't have to keep going into that MENU crap to load to another firmware *dumb* Even if you do Brick ure PSP on OE Firmwares, you can recover it. However i hear on 1.50 PSP that DEVHOOK do this sometime, "when playing ure favorite game , you finish up, turn if off, turn if back on" WHAT? I can use the usb host in devhook 0.46, however. any help would be awesomely appreciated. 'nother thing, can I erase all of the older devhooks if I get the new one; I know it's prolly a silly question, but I don't like erasin' before knowin it's ok. » Here's my advice:

If you want most of your games to work in custom firmwares, make sure you have some kind of UMD in your psp drive. I use metal gear solid portable ops. i tried running daxter in noumd mode and it did not run at all. i then tried with mgs and it worked. so, if you have a UMD make sure you use it, and make sure noumd mode is off before you tell us it does not work.

» R-E-T-A-R-D-E-D!

what you hear is bull*****, either your a complete dumbarse or your making up crap. And my guess is both if not MUCH more.

devhook can NEVER brick. Unless your a complete n00b and flashed the whole thing to your psp, which is sounds like something Ero-Sennin would do.

Your the type of moron that would be clueless and all b!tching what to do if some game/brew on your psp.

If you want to talk *****, keep it to yourself...

All you've done is tak/b!tch and now bull***** to the comunity and have done absolutely ***** ALL in return.

It's DUMBARSE like you that gives the scene a BAD name/taste.

As for this new release, my regards. This will just add to my fine DH series.

A HUGE Thank you to Sleepy and whom ever were involved that made this possible!

Keep it up and IGNORE the clueless queers that says otherwise...

» St00pppppiiiidddd!!!

What you say also 'flashes" to the psp. all you did was use the word 'copy' instead of flash.

What do you think those "flash" programs do?

and as for what you said "out with the old, in with the new" I cant agree more, I'll be more than happy to see old b@stards like you 'OUT'. We sure need peeps like Sleepy, booster, DA, etc... but NOT d!khedz like you in this scene.

» spot on!

I bet ya that these n00bz weren't there in those days or just too dumb to use it.

As for those peeps comparing OE and DH installations.

Here it is from someone that KNOWS.

OE installation:

1.download 3.03 and 1.50 fw

2. rename name as 303.pbp and 150.pbp

3.paste them into oe flashmaker (correct me if im wrong)

4. connect usb and put OEFLASH MAKER and OEFM% in GAME folder for those who are 1.50 and GAME 150 for those in other CFW.

5. Run the OE FM

6. connect usb and copy DXAR from the OEFM to OE Installer folder

7.paste OEFI and OEFI% to GAME (1.50) and Game150 (for CFW)

8. Run OEFI

Thank you hotspeed...

Devhook Installation:

1. Copy ONE zipped package to ms root.

You figure out whats easier...

And as for the other n00bz out there.

I'm not saying Devhook is better than OE or vise versa or any*****e like that.

I'm actually a HUGE fan of OE/SE, but to dis something that help SHAPE what this comunity is now is d-u-m-b.

It's like saying "lets kill those soldiers that was in the war just because we're done wit it now. We dont need them, and sure dont want their violent type on our community!"

Do you KIDS know that todays psp comunity is paved by yesterdays people.

Just beacause 'YOU" might not need it, doesnt mean others or anyone wouldnt too.

give more respect to those that made NOW good and simple. Instead of dissing something you have NO IDEA to use.

» dh is hassle while oe is hassle-less

well hotspeed does seem to be grateful of dh, But hes just wondering why ppl cant just read readme's to install OE/SE, therse like a super low chance you cant brick psp with OE and SE and props to you hotspeed for that installation. Me, i got two psp's and using one dh and one oe. and its true OE and run all umds as long as you dont fun umdfree, its just OE is hassle free. if you look at it that way.

I should have continue to use devhook.

I wanted to get rid of it, now I have a brick !

So people insulting devhook should be carefull.

Then upgraded to D_A 3.03 A

I was confident about the upgrades.

In the output log I could see "checking" "verifying" and so on.
