Dark AleX's CFW PSP 3.80 M33 delayed due to tech problems *UPDATE 2* |

We've been getting reports that, despite the announcement yesterday from Mathieulh, Dark AleX and the rest of Team M33 will not be able to release CFW PSP 3.80 M33 on time. Everyone's been on their toes for the projected release today, but as it turns out, we might have to wait just a little bit longer.
In a recent post by Ketchup in PSP-Gen, we learn of the explanation given by Mathieulh:
According to our information, some technical problems remain and as us mathieulh points out it so well, the [motto] of the TEAM M33 is "quality above all".
In light, Dark_AleX still seems to have some small adjustments to make and it prefers to take its time before putting on line its Custom Firmware 3.80 M33.
Though it is, it is the wisest decision because nothing presses.
Knowing the talent of Dark_AleX, this delay could be of a few days, or only of a few hours. For the moment, no one does not know it.
More adjustments? As if sneaking in that last minute CFW Network Update feature wasn't cool enough, is DAX cooking up something else for us? Maybe "some small adjustments" here simply mean bug fixes - they did after all had a bit of trouble with the NID translations.
We've been checking out Dark AleX's official site though, and we've been noticing that it's been going on and off today. Their site's been under maintenance for about an hour now (screencapped above). At first we assumed that maybe it's in preparation for the eventual release - maybe this is part of the "technical problems" that Math stated.
For what it's worth, they could be priming their site to take the brunt of all those downloads and traffic once they release CFW 3.80.
Let's all hope now for a smooth release for DAX's CFW 3.80 M33. Just wait patiently guys. As Ketchup posts, who knows? It could be in just a few hours or minutes that the CFW hits us in all its glory.

*Update* Just a minor update for all of you guys keeping tabs on CFW PSP 3.80 M33. Dark AleX's website is now back in business looking a tad bit different than before. Unfortunately, as you can see, the CFW 3.80 is still no where in site, err, sight.
Stay patient... We're still not sure as to how stable the site is now, or if the site going back online might mean a very, very imminent release. Stay tuned!

As commented by johnnyp_777 and FreePlay, we get some updates from Team M33 over IRC. Turns out they called it a night, and we can MAYBE expect the release tomorrow:

Mathieulh is completely right. Quality is more important than speed, although i wouldn't care if I have to install some bugfixes later. I can wait longer as long it WILL released.

how do you intsall this and can u install it if u aready have 3.80 on your psp
memstick and battery and downgrade to 3.71 m33-4 be fore you'll be able to install the 3.80CFW. Or if it can be run via Pandora, you'll still need a battery and properly formatted memstick to install it.

Releases are done the Developer's time. NOT your own. It will be done when they deem it done. So shut it.
the easiest comparison is like a postal code (zip code). When you write a program for 1.xx firmware and you want your program to get raw access to the UMD drive using the instruction located at 0xXXXXXXXX, in firmware 3.7x the same instruction is actually located at 0xYYYYYYYY
not exactly but it's the lowest level of comparison I can think of.
...just kidding. Really take all the time you need guys. we're in no rush. I love M33 releases.... I'm glad you guys and Hellcat are doing these things....

I'd rather wait for a clean firmware than get a buggy one today.
Actually, a bit more accurate would be to say the function tag in the library has changed rather than the actual location. So when it tries to find where the code is in memory to link it to the running code, the function that was called 0x12345678 in the previous version is now called 0x7890ABCD (regardless of where it is at.)

ive recovered from a full brick and now have i guess a partial brick. i cannot do anything in the normal XMB it freezes up with only the clock showing up. how ever i can get into the M33 recovery mode. how can i fix this or get back to 1.5? the firmware i currently have on it is M33 3.71 from pandoras battery

You can use the battery again or put the 1.50 eboot in /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP then run it from recovery menu.
I think it was that way.

Look, we're ALL grateful, but after reading two news updates saying that it's "almost here" and then reading that it's not, you're going to have to be disappointed at least a little bit.
Had there been NO announcements about it being "almost here," it would have been only one long wait instead of two or three, and we'd be less disappointed.

Sure, give me 1 star or less, asshats. Idc, because I've been using OE/M33 ever since 3.03, and I loved it. Still lovin' it, and I'm just speaking the truth, but I get annoyed when innocent people say something like "oh, sucks we have to wait", and get flamed for it. You all know it sucks to wait even longer than originally stated, so dont flame someone else just because they state the truth.
when this is released, how exactly does this use the network update feature? I've never used it to update my PSP before, so I've never actually seen this done before. And I haven't read exactly how this is done.
Can anyone fill me in?

they are all mirror sites a site created containing all the same info he prob has his own server to be able to do this. but yeah its a mirror site. +)
...I've never used it either, but I've read (on one of these seemingly endless m33 articles) that, for OFW anyway, you just go to the network update, it downloads the update to the ms0:/psp/game folder, then you update like normal.
You won't be able to update to 3.80 M33 via Network update this time, but for the next updates you'll be able to update CFW the same way you update OFW by being connected to a server that DaX ties to the update_plugin.prx. However, I've heard it may just be the small fix updates. like going from 3.80 M33 to 3.80 M33-2, not a whole decimal jump. And I'm sure we'll be able to update M33 like we've done in the past via PC download because not everyone has access to WI-FI.
But that's just what I've heard speculated around here and there. We'll just have to wait and hear from DaX himself when he releases the update with a readme explanning everything. Hope that wasn't too long and I lost you somewhere. Sorry if I did.

You woudl change something in the recovery menu than run the network update. I do however hope like you said, of being able to manually update. Something about connected to a server sounds like there is some room for error. I'm not the great at using .prx's. I finally got a screenshot plugin to work after 2 weeks of trying. Now I am stuck on being able to use remote play with my 3.7X M33. My PSP worked and I can use it, but my nephews hasn't been able to do the pasr dump correctly. Thats why I am looking forward to 3.80 M33....being able to use remote play without a problem. Plus being able to use internet radio :->

DaX is the best, no other PSP firmware maker is better, HellDashX sucks with 3.72 hx-1, copying Dax's recovery menu's!

just hook up your psp with your usb cord then something might pop up saying "removable disk e or g or f....ever1's is diffrent...anyways...go to that then at the bootom of the little window, got to "open folder". then from there, go to psp then got game, then make a folder called "UPDATE"(all in caps)...then...wen the 3.80 m33 comes, download it and save it to your update folder........now!...unhook your usb cord, then go to game mem stick....not saved data...it should say.."update to verion 3.80 m33" and just press "x" and go from there........your very welcome
I for one don't have a problem waiting for this. The longer he takes, the further $ony will be behind trying to lock us out again.... think of it that way.

it is kinda good that the update was not released today because if it is rushed it could end up being useless and it would most probably have a hell lotta bugs and problems.
.....and no problem. I'll probably just do it the old fashioned way myself, seeing how it's not that difficult, but I might try the Network way. Oh yea, and like akira said, the OFW update eboot file should be in PSP/GAME/UPDATE, not just game. But the Network Update might add that folder if it's not already there. Not sure what the M33 folder within GAME will be called, maybe UPDATE, 380M33, or something else, but you get the picture.
There are some updates I posted on the previous comments page towards the bottom. DaX's day pretty much ending with finding where the problem and was gonna test it again, but needed to call it a night, and who could blame him? The man is workin' hard.
Side note, can you actually chat through the IRC link on dark-alex.org? Or just view his -Global- messages? Would be night to chat it up with some of those guys, but not sure how to go about it. Guess I'll just have to watch for now. Except now I'm going to bed.

I think there are more complex programs or ways off doing it, but this is all I did:
-Go to dark-alex.org/irc
-It should open a java script that you click run on (assuming you have java)
-Then it logs you in with a random number nickname which you can change in the bottom right corner.
-Basically like chat rooms. Click channels up top to see them, then double click a channel.
-When a -GLOBAL- messege comes up (the important ones) it should appear in whatever room you are in and/or on the info page that you first see when logged in.
Hope that somewhat clarifies it. I just starting using it yesterday myself. With all the hype going on, it just seems better to keep that open while on the internet and check in for globals or to what others are saying/hearing.

the only globals I saw today were about a quick bot attack on one of the IRCs, but that's it. And alek, which I think is DaX, was just saying take most stuff is just rumors, and that it still doesn't have a set release date, so if you hear of one, it's probably not true. Then he said he was going to sleep. Nothing as far as progress or what's going on specifically though. Absolutely nothing to front page and 'cause more drama.

I dont bother on waiting on the 3.80 CFW. It doesnt bothers me at all. In fact, its better to let him take his time because if he just let go of hte 3.80 CFW yesterday or the day before yesterday, it wouldn't be good at all. But i would say to him, to take his time on building the new CFW.

Well if you ask me as long as it comes out within January i am ok with it as i would rather them get some rest and make it to the best ,rather than rushing and leaveing it buggy and getting tired out and dazed while working and testing with it.

For 3.71 M33, we had to install the 1.5 kernal after the firmware. Did we ever have to do that in previous firmwares because it seemed like it was all one step. And I'm wondering if that's going to be the case with 3.80 M33.
