Daedalus Pre R5: Compiled Daedalus Source Code |
Ó
CoderX was kind enough to tip us about StrmnNrmn's new compiled Daedalus source code done by PSdonkey. He has compiled all the updated source code by StrmnNrmn as he had been getting a lot of messages from people who wanted to try them out but couldn't because - you guessed right - they couldn't compile the source code on their own.PSdonkey has also included a new eboot icon, eboot sound and background which were all originally from his own program. He has enhanced the code by making minor changes to it so the code will be able to run roms faster. Keep in mind that this isn't the Donkey64/Ultimate64. This is StrmnNrmn's Daedalus source code which was compiled and enhanced a bit by PSdonkey. You can download the Daedalus Pre R5 emulator for either 1.00 or 1.50 by clicking on the link below.

1st out of `1000
great job i had no way of compiling it my self lol
finally some real quality homebrew news!!!
lookin good!
3 omfg ive been waiting for thisssss!!!
Finaly some updates worth looking at. Personally im sick of all the atari emulators spamming up pspu. Gonna try out this build on my psp to see how much faster it runs mario.
All hail n64 emulation on the psp!!
Thank You QJ.net for posting this exciting news. People should always rescept the authors and Jake, QJ.net staff.
THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!!!
Thanks for compiling this for us PSdonkey! I tried myself but I got several errors. i also see that mario64 now runs alot faster then it did in version R4. Thanks for you improvements to the source PSdonkey!
yess! ive been waiting for this!
whats the fps like while running around the castle in super mario 64? before it was like 5 but now what is it?
will it work on 2.6?
ok just tried at least 5 fps better on mario 64! nice
I just played StarFox64 and i completed the entire training course! Thanks PSdonkey for the compiling and the improvements to the code!
I had a 2.0 running this emu, and when i unzipped a zipped rom, it took like at most 20-30 sec
However, I downgraded to 1.5, and now when i unzip, it takes the longest time. I didn't even wait for it to finish unzipping. I counted and its like 32kb unzipped per 5 sec.
Is this supposed to happen?
Works on 2.6
amazing progress
Dont zip up the roms. Just place the rom as it is in the rom folder and it rums alot faster like that!
Awsome work. Theres deffinately a massive improvement in the framerate department.
I'm pretty sure that PSDonkey is the one making all the random positive comments, and I'm pretty sure that all he did was comile the source and nothing more
how you display FPS select doesn't do anything anymore
Rom - I dont zip up .v64 format roms, but if I have a .n64 format rom, it doesnt support it unzipped but it does see it when its zipped.
Btw great job, StrmnNrmn. Framerates are amazing.
And thanks to PSDonkey, for compiling it for us
Hey #20, give credit to people who deserves it. PSdonkey did all of us a big favor by compiling the source code for us. He also stated that he made some minor improvements to the source code as well to increase speed with the games. I do notice games play faster then they did before. Go read StrmnNrmn's blog and you will see what PSdonkey has posted over there.
#22, .n64 roms seem to work fine for me. Try renaming the .n64 roms to .v64 and dont zip them up. It should work better like that.
This thing is REALLY fast compared to the old version.
if this doesnt work there is aways the atari emulator;)
w00000000000000 000000t!
I want an FPS number... anyone got one? once it gets to something like 15 FPS, which could be semi-playable. Nice job, but I'm still waiting until Strm releases HIS update. That'll be nice.
NICE!!!
I have been playing this for a while now and got it of another site yesterday. I would have emailed Pspupdates about this but they never give credit where it is due so as usual they were late. Dcemu also got this news before them and the thread is already quite long (yesterdays thread). Now back on topic, this pre-release is quite a bit faster than the R4 and I suggest everyone try out AeroGauge because the speed is amasing. Give it a try and you just might be very surprised trust me.
Mario64 run very good! And the graphics are exactly perfect!
this one is a big step up in speed, playing SM 64 and it is stuning. a question does this run in 333? cause i started it in IR shell on 333 mode and it seems faster but im not sure if its just me
Its a good accomplishment, but I want more speed.
the reason this goes faster is strmnNrmn has been working his ass of for two months recompiling the code.
so thank you strmnnrmn
donkeys claims to speeding it up are most probly fake
Simply amazing how fast this thing goes now. Its almost to the point where I could play through mario64. Great job strmnNrmn and all others involved!
it works on 2.6 the speed is pretty good
test zelda or mario kart, oh and great job, you must have worked your butt off
do i D/L for 2.6?
1.0 or 1.5
slow Emulator
u dl 1.0
Super Smash Bro. doesnt work after start screen.
A dude over at psp3d.com had done this earlier today and released it. You guys need to give credit to the right people...
is it me or is the speed of the emu completely exxagerated,I mean for me it's about the same speed as the other Nintendo releases.(Unless your using the 1.00 release if that makes a difference)
smash bros dont work with this.
NICE JOB!!! but only one problem.. super mario 64 doesnt load for me =[ anyone know how to fix that?
thanks
heh almsot close.... I can't wait to play Zelda OOT on PSP with full speed and sound
pretty good progress from what I read, even if I only noticed a slight framerate speedup.
here is wat ive tested
mario 64: of course
mario kart: loaded but didnt work after selecting character
goldeneye:doesn 't load
Sorry, but is it just me or it doesnt have sound.
My mom always told me I was smart...
you can tell he's new to daedalus, just nicly say 50 sound is not supported yet. now say your sorry lol
I am sorry #50 for being so rude to you.
mine has sound turn your speakers up
I think if psdonkey is so cool as he sais...i think he should relase his own version that he showed on a video in youtube days ago...
that video showed a full emulated n64...
...sorry my english i'm learning jejeje...
SERIOUSLY i'm tired of the complaints of who did what. if somebody did something, and they dont contact the QJ.net staff.... screw them!
I am extremely suspicious of this. Most of the praise is coming from unregistered people making short, vague comments, and I'm generally cautious about sources compiled by a third party. God only knows what might have actually been done to it.
Can anyone with some credibility confirm that this actually has a notable framerate improvement, AND confirm that the download isn't loaded with a Trojan or something? Thanks.
i can tell you this is not a trojan probably want believe me (not registered) but the framerate still sucks to me there very little improvement
wow r u kidding me dis is so hot cant viewe fps tho but looks like its going great i bet the next release or 2 will definitely go full speed or atleast extremely playable
yes n64 emu on PSP all the WAY!!!!!!!!!
The speed went up to a very decent framerate, but for me, it seems to freeze more often and quickly. Either way, great work! Its great to see this emulator progress as much as it is.
hey donkey you dont have to post randomly man i dont care but can you tell me if you did something bad to the files im scared as hell if i use it lol
what roms work with sound i know mario 64 doesnt have sound
"compiled and enhanced the source code"? My arse, he probably just saw this as a chance to get his name back. PSDonkey is the faker who made a non-existant N64 emulator called Donkey64/Ultimate 64.
PSmonkey and StrmnNrmn are the real N64 devs :)
Its actully very goood
I thougt that psdonket all they was a faker but now I changed my mind. Very fast allmost playble. But i hope not that its a trojan and this is just revegne...
This is WELL out of order.
It's very bad form to compile and release someone else's source without their say-so. Now, if there are bugs, people are going to blame strmnNrmn, when he probably new about them already.
Idiots like donkey just damage the PSP homebrew scene, and the open-source family in general. If he's made any changes to the source, he should publish them and contribute them to the project.
If u take a look at the Dadelus blog u will notice that people were experiencing difficulty compiling the source. Also I remember Strnnm openly stating to people that were too eager to wait for his release to go ahead and compile it themselves if they can't wait. It is just a coincidence that the source happened to be compiled by an idiot faker who obviously wants to get praise. One can give creidt where it is due but the fact will always remain, ******** is nothing more than a fake and always will be.
this isnt at all better. in fact its worse because select doesnt do anything anymore.
shurely psp updates wouldnt have posted it if it was a virus
I can confirm that this runs much faster than R4.
Dear God no, not this PSDonkey character again, seriously after all his previous bull***** and lies he needs to drop off of the face of the internet.
thats a whole lot of faking looking replys.
I notice that the R5 pre-release crashes about every 10 mins or so, maybe this was the feature someone added to the source code.
Just in case anyone missed it, the name is AeroGauge and it runs much faster than Super Mario. If anyone else can recommend some games that play faster than the usual please let me know. As usual the game crashes after about 5-10 mins though.
How good are the graphics in AeroGeuge?
The graphics aren't anything special, it is just a 3D racing game with futuristic looking vehicles and some of the textures are a little messed up, however it is very near a playable speed. Starfox appears to be faster too.
Thanks for the advice. I will try star fox too.
How many FPS is runing Super Mario 64?
Thanks alot for this.
When i went over to dcemu i got a little scared but evryone here seems alot happier. For me if your emulator was fake it was only a thing of the past. I was a little let down though after seein the video but no emu.
Proabably 20 fps.
For some reason I have no sound. I have gotten Marios 64 to work but.....no sound. Whats up with that?
First you tricked us with a fake video and now you help us?!?!?! ok we forgive you :) , now I can play STrmn Nrmn's progress.
When the e-loader starts reading the emulator it turns off?
nice release...i tried to load turok 1 2 and 3 but no luck.. did anyone try to load them yet and does it work if you did? and do you have to change it to .v64 instead of n64 if it doesnt work?
It says in the artical that he added sound support, and also someone said they have sound... but I don't, and it seems most people don't....
Which is true?
Either Way, this runs WAAAAY better then the old one, with some sound I would start playin through Mario 64 right now...
I have a 2.6 when I try to start mario kart 64 it works but when it askes me to choose a player or a track is freezes. does ayone have this proablem.
i have a 2.6 psp, and i used the 1.5 eboot first, speed didnt change at all. I tried the 1.0 eboot and there was a BIG improvement there, for somereason the 1.0 eboot works faster for me.
the 1.50 EBOOT works with 2.6, too???
I thought only 1.00...
geat work guys, the games are more playable then ever :)
goddamn i hate all the ppl dissing either StrmnNrmn, psmonkey, or psdonkey! JUST GIVE IT A FRIGGIN REST!!! POSTING SHYT ON THE COMMENTS BOARD WHILE U DONT EVEN KNO WTF UR TALKIN ABOUT... JUST STOP AND STFU... GO TO SLEEP!!!
"He has enhanced the code by making minor changes to it so the code will be able to run roms faster."
Wow, doesn't that just sound like it's written by someone with a clue? "The code" sounds like some magical, mysterious entity to the writer of this article. Bravo qj, bravo.
See what happens when you don't copy and past from other sites?
I have 2.0 and I cant seem to get it to work, It freezes on the screen with text on the top left of the screen.
There are not enough buttons on the psp to emulate the Nintendo 64. how could we use those yellow c-direction keys? Would someone explain this to me? THanks!
One key - Home, perhaps? - could be set up as a shift key that, when held, changes the function of the d-pad to serve as the C-buttons.
Look at how the keymapping for Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror works. It has a LOT of gameplay functions, yet they're set up in the button mapping in such a way that they're easy to learn and use. It can be done, with a little imagination.
This should have been released when it was 100%.. I have loader097 firm2.6 and i have no sound, almost all the games i tried dont work, and like everyone else mario kart freezes when i choose a character
maybe that may be it thanks rehevkor
I think STrm and donkey should team up, fack the monkey. he sucks.
http://www.psp-hacks.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=30827&p=1
Is there sound yet? For Pete's sake SOMEONE tell me theres sound. You know by adding sound the Emulator COULD run a bit faster?
There is no sound ingame.
2.0 with eloader.097
Mariokart64
"no sound"
1st try freezes after i choose a character
2nd try freezes before i choose a character
blehhh
Due to the limitations of having a 32MB memory card, The emulator only works if you have plenty of memory left, I was only able to get it to work with Super Mario 64 since it was an 8MB rom, I tried Starfox 64 and Mario Kart 64 alone and it wouldnt start with them, Meaning you have to have a certain amount of space left on the memory card in order for the emulator to properly load.
Everybody the sound does not work. There is no sound in the emu. It says the eboot icon has sound so if you brows to the game in the game menue it playes music.
To the person who wrote the following I am assuming it is just s joke.
''This should have been released when it was 100%.. I have loader097 firm2.6 and i have no sound, almost all the games i tried dont work, and like everyone else mario kart freezes when i choose a character''
This is just a pre-release, it is not officially released by Strnnm but someone who wanted to see it's progress so far decided to compile the source code. If you read the blog you will see this release is not intended for use yet.
eey can u post n64 roms than work with this emulator????? i only have mario 64 :S
...This is not an official R5 so Ill just wait for the official 1 tbh...
...hope ppl that use this version like it though
on R3 or R4, i dont remember, in zelda i could reach the point of controlling link, even though fps was very low.
In this version it freezes really early, during the story text (right after you start a new game, just a black screen with text).
For real try this out it's ALOT faster and if you have alot of space left on your memory stick then get it. Because you can defly. get a picture of how N64 will be. It's different than before. I have a 1.5 psp so idk.
In mario 64, in the room where you jump into the painting in for the first level, when you run around on the platform it runs at pretty much full speed.
where do i put them ,whut do i name folder
mario 64 freezes after you beat the king bo-bomb
i dont know pretty much anything abaut programming... but on my old pentium 233 computer i had a emulator called corn. It worked on full speed. cant you make a port of that emulator instead?
